Joe Barton.. blah blah...ugh. Joe Barton.. more.. ugh.
Will this resonate?
Yeah, a little. Sorry, I think Joe was right in spirit but wrong in tactics.
But the good news is they're on the defensive regarding the upcoming mid-terms, and we need to keep them reeling. The other good news is if this is all they got to hammer about, they ain't got a helluva lot.

As a voter who still receives DNC crap, apparently they still think I am a democrat.
DC bob saying this is only to rally the troops. I have now received 2 DNC requests from donations, one from Puke-o-si saying, if they don't continue to hold the House, the repubs will "start Ken Starr like hearing", Gibbsy saying this is ONLY to rally the troops.
Silly Rabbit, that's what I want, and heck I am a recovering demon'srat
and then I got a second one from the DCCC, someone named Chris Van holland? and this one says something to the effect of "the community organizer needs more time to undo the crap Bush did"
I've already send in my first reply back, I'm going to have fun with the second one. Hmmm, so much to say. Plus they gave me yet another pre-paid envelip

Uhh, look, the stimulus worked. We'd be in far worse economic shape if it weren't for Joe Biden's website number. Umm, we can't go back to the failed policies of the Bush years that led up to this catastrophe. Sure, umm, unemployment is higher than we anticipated but that's because you just don't understand, umm, what we're doing. Nancy Pelosi said it best when she said that we need unemployment benefits to stimulate the economy. So umm, you see, we wanted higher numbers, to give more benefits, to jummpstart the, er, economy. How do you people not understand this??

The lefties are running big on this asinine idea that the Arizona law is somehow "immigration law" even though it grants no citizenship or residency status to anyone (unlike states that issue drivers licenses to illegals) and it deports no one, so it does nothing to affect immigragtion in the US. What it does is establish those who are in their state illegally. Even aside from the insane leftist "immigration" argument, they should have a gander at, Art IV, Sec 2:
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
The Constitution recognizes, explicitly, the idea of citizens of States, so it obviously recognizes each State's RESPONSIBILITY to police its own citizenry and keep out those who cannot legally be citizens of the State.
I just had to get this out because no one ever talks about it.

Take off backs clean out fingers and mess. Boil them after that. Takes less time and less cleaning to eat.

Jon at Exurban League (group of AZ bloggers) posted yesterday about one of her opponents dropping out in order to support the Governor but there is some guy named Buz Mills still challenging her for the nomination. Hope the link helps:

Actually, more like a crooked, homely and dishonest figurehead in the Obumble Regime. It will be interesting if she bails out in 2011 to run against BHO in the 2012 Demon primary. There will be blood on the floor, so to speak. Watching these two factions of the Demon party knife each other in the back should be good entertainment.

The NBPP will be the straw that puts odumbass down, kind of ironic huh.
I wish. Unfortunately, the MFM isn't interested in reporting on the NBPP, and the weak kneed Republicans are refusing to comment on it as well. (They don't want to be labeled "racist".) What's the point of having a Black man being head of the RNC when he will never be Black enough to criticize? (Kind of like Ken Gladney not being Black enought for the NAACP to defend against the SEIU thugs that brutalized him). We are living in bizarro universe where up is down, and right is wrong.

We're talking about Gibbs and the Washington White House press corps here, not a Mensa meeting. These guys are all a bunch of self-absorbed schmucks. It's painful to watch any of these pressers (less so now that Horrible Helen is gone), the stupid is so strong with this group.
And it really hasn't changed over the years. Anyone with brains that asks intelligent questions will be shunned or blackballed.
The White House Press corps are a bunch of sissy sycophants. They are worse asskissers than the sportwriters in a one horse college football town. When the days comes when the Obama Regime and Glibbs the Tool have passed, some criticism may emerge. I remember what a vulgar a-wipe Mike McCurry was for the Clinton Clowns, and he still gets a pass. He actually made fun of Hillary! when she was in teh White House.

Rhode Island's governor, Don Carcieri, is a Republican, and more in the Chris Christie mold than the usual Northeastern RINO one. Carcieri established the current law-enforcement policy on immigration by executive order (he'd never get the RI legislature to adopt it by statute), and it goes way beyond what Arizona does.
So why sue Arizona rather than Rhode Island? Because AZ is a red state and RI is a blue state. Arizona has to be painted as beyond the pale, as opposed to the reality that it's pretty mild.

It is for this reason that I think that somewhere in there it says you should have somebody take your money and possessions to give it to others rather than you engaging in charity out of your own free will, and that government should be the one to do it. (It is also for this reason that major Democratic politicians are often so stingy in their own charitable giving.)
I will breathe hatred for every aspect of religion except when I make the case it should determine your politics--though only in the few instances where it bears some faint connection to my agenda.
This makes me better than the teabaggers, Sarah Palin, and anyone who is a genuinely good person for some reason, but not one I have been able to articulate yet.

Yeah, that article reads like it was written by a stoned 13 year old. The Indonesian Imbecile really pushed himself to spit out that turd. In his (relative) defense, however, Sotomayor, when she was at Princeton, didn't think that adjectives existed in Spanish, which puts her below the Indonesian - hard to believe, but true.

It gets to democrats and 'independents' that no conservative ads will reach. You aren't going to get your ideal narrative to them, but reaching them via MSNBC and CNN with a story that blames Obama and highlights his lies in a way that will resonate wtih them, is huge. She went through some pretty tortuous and spectacular (for her) gymnastics trying to make sure that everyone got the point that only the Fed Gov has any jurisdiction over "foreign persons".
She seemed to be really pushing that point.
So, if someone flies in from Denmark and decides to loot, pillage, rape and plunder in Tucson, the TPD and Pima County Sheriff's Dpt. should be all "hands off", until the Feds get there to deal with this foreign person?

Yes. It was an amazing amount of stupidity - though not unusual for the left (or Powers). Her "foreign persons" statement was so spectacularly stupid that I mentioned it on a thread yesterday right as I saw it. This is beyond even normal leftarditude.
I like to note, for all the retarded leftist who continue on with this insane idea that States have no role in checking the legality of their population, that the Constituion mentions in Art IV, Sec 2:
"The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States."
with the notion of State citizenship clearly stating that those States have the responsibility and power to ensure that their states have only those who are legally allowed to be there, and the State has the right to maintain the integrity of the legality of all present in its mission to its own State citizenry and guests.
The way the idiot leftards are arguing this case, no state would be able to do anything that has some measure of federal jurisdiction to it (like everything, since federal civil rights law covers just about everything one could possibly think of) and no state could do anything about a "foreign person" including asking that person if he is foreign ... which means that States, in the twisted world of Kristin Powers and her co-religionist America-haters, wouldn't be able to do anything to anybody.
In the end, the US must make a choice. It will be The Precedent or the US. Both will not make it through the Indonesian's term, intact.

So, as a lefty, I'm just going to bypass the whole "is it murder" question and just bash rightwingers...
Murder...not murder..."are rightwingers hypocrites?" is the more important question.
This bring up a timeless quote.
The reason any conservative's failing is always major news is that it allows liberals to engage in their very favorite taunt: Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them. Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce. It's an intriguing strategy. By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, liars, weasels and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites.
Again, so by not taking care of one-year olds, should killing one-year olds now be legal?

31 A little OT, regarding Axelrod's Fox interview.........
"The Constitution recognizes, explicitly, the idea of citizens of States, so it obviously recognizes each State's RESPONSIBILITY to police its own citizenry and keep out those who cannot legally be citizens of the State.
I just had to get this out because no one ever talks about it."
***********************************************
That's because it is utter crackpotism.
In Massachusetts, the AG recently stated explicitly, infamously, and correctly that "it's not illegal (under state law) to be illegal" (in the federal sense) in Massachusetts. If it's not illegal, etc. then what is the legal bar for an illegal to become a legal citizen of Mass., in your reading of the situation, as well as the Mass. AG's????? When I declared residency in Mass all I had to do was show some electrical bills and bank accounts, not a passport.
May I point out to you further, sir, that there is no such thing as a "citizen of Massachusetts", in the sense that Massachusetts and other states are not sovereign nations? They do not issue passports, and are proscribed by the Constitution from engaging in a whole panoply of functions left to the federal government, including making treaties, engaging in War against foreign nations, imposing tariffs and the like.
How about some citations from court cases to bolster your unsupported case?

Sorry you're again taking positions on things you don't know about, but being defensive isn't going to help you and, when it's an important subject, it just leads to you being wrong on important issues, which it looks like you're cool with.
Like I said, you'll be the one explaining it to your kids (wish them luck) not me.
Uhh, what about In Vitro Fertilization?
Good question, and that's one of a few reasons abortion early in a pregnancy are a more tricky subject and a better argument could be made to keep it open. In the case of any egg+sperm that's frozen, that's not going to become a person unless it's inserted in somebody, but, still a good argument could be made.
As to you, you'd send somebody to jail for killing a kid a couple weeks out of the womb while you'd get pissed at conservative for wanting to stop stabbing a pair of scissors into a skull and sucking a kids brains out with a straw a couple weeks prior, what is essentially developed and is already a kid. So blow me.

-------------------------------
Art IV, Sec 2:
The
Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and
Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
Go argue with James Madison, numbnuts. The Constitution clearly recognizes the concept of a citizen of a State, which means that the Constitution clearly recognizes the State's minimal responsibilities with regards to this citizenry, which obviously includes finding and excising (giving to the Feds to get rid of) those who cannot be legal citizens/residents of the State.

Uh, no. To kill is to take the life of any living thing, i.e., to render dead that which was living. It isn't relative: whether an act is or isn't killing is objective.
Whether a particular act of killing is MURDER is a legal, moral and philosophical question, and hence relative and subjective. Most killing is not murder: murder at common law was the 1) UNLAWFUL and 2) MALICIOUS killing of 3) ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.
Killing an animal or a plant? Not murder.
Killing another human being by accident? Not murder.
Killing in self-defense? Not murder
Killing YOURSELF? Not murder.
Etc. etc.

That is a cop-out, and also thoroughly inexplicable. What monopoly on morality do you think someone is magically infused with when they put on a robe? Have you ever had to deal with judges in the real world, as opposed to the philosopher-kings you seem to be imagining? What special grace are they invested with that you think places their decisions above those of the political branches, i.e., the executive and legislative?

Oh really, so when they said for decades that slavery was okay, killing slaves was okay, and then later, that Northerners should be forced to return escaped slaves--that was cool with you too.
When they said "separate but equal" was okay, even though the law explicitly said otherwise, that was also cool with you.
Sterilization of the mentally disabled was, again, cool with you.
Whether it should be okay to stab a baby in the skull with a pair of scissor and suck its brains out with a straw is just too touch of a moral judgment for you to make.
You have to defer to the courts.
The same courts that are about to have Elena Kagan, the person who pressured the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists not to include that it “could identify no circumstances under which this procedure . . . would be the only option to save the life or preserve the health of the woman” in its report--which was crucial to keeping partial-birth abortion (the procedure you didn't even realize existed until you came on this thread) legal.
Is it just American courts you defer your judgments to or foreign ones also?
I mean, all the European countries that have much stricter abortion rules...I assume you don't defer your judgments to those.
Dictatorships, even atheist ones, I assume you wouldn't defer to those courts, right?
You coward.
Like the people who were okay with slavery, okay with segregation, okay with numerous other injustices, you're not evil, you're just a coward.
Of course, most people would mouth that they didn't like slavery, but those damn abolitionists (the religious ones), that's who really annoyed them. Most people would admit that blacks had it bad under segregation, but those troublemakers that came down South and raised a fuss about busses, that's who really annoyed them.
You come on this thread and spend hours arguing to attack somebody, but when it comes to a judgment as basic as this, you can't do it.
Like I said of many militant atheists at the beginning:
You're a pathetic dirtbag of a human being.

Posted by: Raygun at July 11, 2010 08:16 PM (3/p/z)
Don't you agree that? Hasn't it worked out in the past?
Um, how? By the courts finally magically getting it right all on their own? I'd say that's a big no. I'm not going to open up the Civil War can of worms on this thread, but Dred Scott wasn't overruled by the courts: it was overruled by the 13th and 14th Amendments.
Plessy v. Ferguson was the law of the land for more than 60 years, and when Brown finally overruled it (sort of, contrary to popular understanding), it did so on the basis of questionable social science research as opposed to the obvious plain language of the law, language that Justice Harlan had invoked in his original scathing dissent in Plessy.
I could go on and on with further examples, but you seem to think there's something special about the courts that makes them able to get it right more often (or "in a better way"?) than the political branches. I'm still at a loss to understand why.

Posted by: Raygun at July 11, 2010 08:30 PM (3/p/z)

Humans, right?
Posted by: Walrus and Bono at July 11, 2010 08:34 PM (7aNei)
There's really no way it could be. There's no case I can imagine that could come before the Court asking it to rule on a live controversy involving what the law was before the 13th and 14th Amendments. Dred Scott is a dead letter and essentially legally irrelevant now, but no, the Court's never, as far as I know, had an opportunity to revisit it.
The Slaughterhouse Cases from the 1870's, OTOH, interpreting the P&I Clause of the 14th Amendment into meaninglessness...Justice Thomas's recent concurrence in McDonald (the Chicago gun case) is a masterpiece. The rest of the Court didn't go there, but at least the idea is around.
