— DrewM It's now January 20th on the east coast. One year ago today Barack Obama took the oath of office and became the 44th President of the United States. 364 days later his presidency as we knew it and he planned it, ended.
Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts (Mass-A-Fucking-Chusetts!) will mark the high water mark of Obama's leftist presidency. Don't get me wrong, he'll still screw things up wherever he can through executive action but the big society remaking legislative agenda of health care reform, cap and trade and immigration amnesty? Dead. The question is will he continue to try and ram those programs through what will be an increasingly hostile Congress (and fail) or move to the center and pass whatever pragmagtic/mainstream liberal policies he can.
My guess is the former.
Obama is a dyed in the wool liberal who knows nothing else. Rudy was on with Sean Hannity today and made a great point...Clinton was able to move right because he had practical experience in running a state and dealing with conservatives in Arkansas. Obama has none of that in his background. He only knows the hard left playbook.
Meanwhile, Scott Brown was able to tap into the anger here in Massachusetts (Mass-A-Fucking-Chusetts!) in a pragmatic way that appealed not only to independents but conservatives as well. If you listened to that speech tonight there was plenty of nods to the middle, to the vast number of independent voters but there was also a lot for hard core conservatives plenty to agree with (tax money for defense from terrorists, not for defense of terrorists, etc). It's a powerful combination and one that, with the right candidates, can be duplicated in states like NY and other traditional Democratic bastions in the coming cycle.
The cheer of "41!, 41!" went up tonight. It was uplifting because of what it means to health care and a host of other issues but it also shows just how far the GOP has sunk.
Tonight in a very unlikely place, a previously unknown Republican state senator began the Republican return from an unimaginably short trip to the wilderness and ended the Obama presidency as we knew it.

Excellent post, Drew. Clinton had some IRL experience. Barry is all theory and wishful thinking and ego. He doesn't have a prayer anymore. He's a one-termer, plain and simple. And so egocentric that he'll be the very last one to figure that out.

Carter quickly rose up to a 75% approval and by the end of the year was polling in the 40s, he never rebounded, other then a small bump fpr the Camp David accords he was a fairly unpopular President throughout his Presidency
Dubya in his 2nd term was quiet popular until Katrina hit, the next 3 years he did nothing except the successful surge and pissing off the base
Poppy Bush was actually a popular President up until 1992, which happen to be the re-election year
Ford was popular initially but after the Nixon pardon never recovered
Nixon was popular going into his 2nd term but watergate hit quick and he was unpopular mostly through his 2nd term
LBJ took time to get hurt
Kennedy was immensely popular but was nosediving before he was assassinated
just some history to ponder, but in short: yes it is possible to have a whole term as an unpopular President, hell John Quincy Adams was unpopular from the get-go and had a full blown 4 yea term spent gearing up to battle Jackson in a rematch...only to get his ass kicked

Reminds me, Rove (you magnificent bzstard!) was on Greta tonight (heh) and made the point that Obama could survive this by moving to the center and governing from there the way Clinton did. "But he wont."
Rove's explanation of why is perfectly illustrative of why PKO is correct.

But Obama and his team don't understand this. They're all A (Alinsky) offensive with no alternate mode. In a world of bimodal to multimodal systems, they're clueless.
So for those clueful enough to capitalize on this, take it to Obama and his organization now. He has no other offense. Exploit this ineptitude and cram it down their throat. Ride the one-trick pony and show him the cost of betting solely on a single strategy.

There are plenty of RINOs in the Senate who will be happy to flip for a cookie on any number of issues. Even now.
I do agree that Obama will double down rather than move to the center. Unlike Clinton, who was really after public adulation, Obama's after fascism.

Possible - but the handicap he faces is having a Congress that's led by hard-Left Progressives.
Obama has just been given a gift: it took Clinton until the midterm elections to get the wake-up call about how unpopular his Leftist agenda was. Obama's getting his wake-up call ten months sooner - but unlike Clinton, Obama is likely to hit the snooze button and return to his nice dream of shoving his agenda down America's throat and making her like it.
Are Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod or Valerie Jarrett going to tell Obama to triangulate to the center, like Dick Morris told Clinton? I tend to doubt it: they seem to be more committed to their Progressive goals than to their boss's re-election. I could be wrong.

I don't believe that The Precedent is really a leftist. He doesn't really care about politics or legislation. All he wants to do is exact revenge on America and harm this nation as much as he possibly can. I have been convinced of this intention of his since back in the campaign, and I haven't been surprised by anything he's done ... just sayin'.
I think he gravitates left because that is the side of the spectrum that promotes unlimited, centralized and concentrated government power (which goes along with what he said about the Constitution being a charter of negative liberties and needing to run around it in branches other the judiciary), but I really don't think he cares one way or the other about any actual policy. "How much damage will it do to the nation?" is all I can see him really caring about. I believe that's part of why he let Reid and Pelosi run wild, because he just didn't give a shit what was in the bill, as long as it was un-American and noxious.
That's how I've seen this.

The entire plan was predicated on the swift action of the Stimulus Bill in stemming job losses. That bill was supposed to solve the first problem and prove the superpowers of the new Administration.
They were so positive it would work, they had no backup plan for what to do when it didn't. They just pretended that it DID work, and went on to "solving" the next "problem," health care. And the more the real-world evidence piled up that the Stimulus failed, the more they piled up fabricated counter-evidence that it "saved or created" a bazillion jobs, until their claims became literally -- as in SNL -- laughable.
It kind of reminds me of the joke that ends with the punch line, "That's easy: assume a can opener."

In the latest Sienna poll of a few days ago, George Pataki (who hasn't announced, but might) fared very well against ALL the possible democrats that might run for Gilibrand's seat. Worst case matchup I noticed was a tie.
Pataki hardly has the star power of a Scott Brown, but if an uninspiring squishy gump like him can manage a tie against the best Democrat contender, that means that seat is definitely in play and the natives are restless and looking for something different and willing to entertain possibilities without a "D" after their name.
Lazio was a stone loser in most cases, and I'd chalk that up to the bad taste left in people's mouths due to the botched Hillary debate years ago. He's pretty much radioactive anywhere other than locally. He could win as a rep, but never as a senator.

In darkened streets the sirens sound
The few abroad look skyward
In darkened houses close to ground
Deep shelter is the byword
The sirens wail, the bomber stream
Fills darkened sky with thunder
Below the children clutch and scream
As mothers only wonder
Can they survive another night
Then come incendiaries
The firefighters try to fight
Amid their family worries
The flames take hold and spread so fast
The wind whips round the corners
And then itÂ’s over, burnt at last
With few surviving mourners
In Cambridge town the bomber stream
Does not bring death, but trouble
For ObieÂ’s ugly marxist dream
ThatÂ’s now reduced to rubble

The problem these idiot Democrats are facing, and right now it's sinking to haunt them, is that the entire raft of their agenda depended on a supermajority. All of it. Now they've lost that supermajority and with it a ton of face and credibility. They have to either back off and lower their sights, or double down and really put the screws on. They still have both houses, one with 59 senators and a bunch of RINOs who can't be expected to keep it together forever, and they have a sychophantic media. So they can still swing a wrecking ball, and we'd be wise to look out.
But this election really embarrasses them and it exposes real vulnerablility. They look either incompetent, or reckless, or both, for engineering this fiasco. It's great going on a victory lap over at Kos right now, to see all these retards firing themselves to double down on cramming their agenda down America's throat. They're feeling pressed by time and itching to up the ante. Decent people will not accept this kind of gambling with their futures. This ain't a political casino, and we are not lab rats for hopeychangey-eyed progressive schemes. This is our country they are gambling with, and they will be stopped.

My favorite part in all this is that douchebags like Charles Johnson and Andrew Sullivan who pivoted over to the Left because that's what they thought the "cool kids" were doing these days are now already completely out of touch with America.
Watch them try to walk their way back over to our side. To which I say: fuck you both. You two losers are not welcome here ever again.

My god, Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow must be on the DNC payroll. In fact I was shocked that the commentary could be so obviously pro-Democrat for a so-called "news" channel. The folks who claim that MSNBC are a propaganda organ for the Democrats are completely accurate. Astonishingly, it seems to be the only true transparency in the Obama regime.

That's actually been his M.O. since Inauguration Day. He gives a topic (e.g., "stimulus") and some vague guidelines ("no tax cuts; target spending on union jobs"), and then delegates the rest to Pelosi and Reid. You'd think he'd have Emanuel or Axelrod or Jarrett draft guidelines for legislation, but he doesn't even bother with that - he just claims credit for whatever Reid and Pelosi manage to get passed.
It's hard to imagine what he's going to speechify about next, though. He can no longer try to pass off his stimulus as a success by inventing jobs "saved or created," because unemployment has been too high for too long and some people are running out of benefits. He can't call for health care reform because it's clear the Democrats can't pass anything - and even if he'd be willing to work with Republicans on incremental reforms, Pelosi and Reid wouldn't (and I doubt Emanuel, Axelrod or Jarrett would, either).
Is he really going to push for Cap and Trade, which has even less chance of passing than health care reform? Is he really going to push for an immigration amnesty? What else is left?

Dudes/chicks, I wish I could be in MA tonight. How much fun would that be! I got up this morning, about 4am and turned on Bill Bennet, static am signal until the sun comes up. Then, I continued reading the blogs looking for news on the race. Finally the time came when I headed off to school, listening to Rush. I got to the Park n Ride, and walked to the train station, reading blogs all the way to school. I had to turn off cell because the instructor busted my balls about it, he's awesome though so it's cool. No updates for 5 long hrs. I leave school about 15 mins b4 the polls close in MA, hit the train station about 10 mins till and board. I was reading Legal Insurrection the whole way home as he was live blogging it. It was drizzling all day so I had to walk in the rain to my car, of course i had to park IN THE VERY BACK OF THE LOT CAUSE THOSE WERE THE ONLY SPOTS LEFT but no big deal. I like a little rain. I finally got to the car and turned on Hugh Hewitt and drove to my buddies house in the rain. I finally arrived and ran straight to the computer. Then I saw that the miracle had happened. My mom called and by the end of the conversation, she was in tears of joy. She is a true saint and patriot and will KICK ASS. What a huge day. I was just a kid when Carter was in office but I remember the hostages in Iran. Then I remember Reagan, awesome. Didn't care much for Bush SR, didn't care much for Slick Willy, but I like W other than his spending. But my Lord, I really am at a loss with Buraq. What a complete dipshit and all his syncophants. BALL DIPPING GOODNESS Y'ALL!!!
I just wanted to share. Whew, i feel better.

But our attitude has been a leading indicator of public sentiment, for quite a long time, even if the reasoning was different. As Bush drifted left, we lost enthusiasm for him and his public numbers dropped like a rock, though others had different problems with him. We were out of 2006, though we voted - there was no enthusiasm for anyone. The only place this trend was countered, I think, was Nov 2008, and that was because the public had gone nuts from the credit crisis - still affected to a large extent. And the Tea Party is mainstream America.
I think the difference is that we are for limited government, while the left is for unlimited federal control. So, since mainstream American attitudes about government are also for limited government, two finite numbers must be closer to each other than to infinity. Q.E.D.

Seriously, they do. For one, they make the same mistake Obama made of believing his own hype. They think he got elected because smart people listened attentively to his "message" and chose hope and change. They laughably misinterpret the polls. Obama's approval down? Obviously, it's because he's not fulfilling his promises to turn us into France! Another delusion is that they think they're simply bad at messaging. There's an American public aching to go socialist out there, and the Dems are not managing to convey that they are ready to deliver us to O-topia.
Honestagod, they indulge in those absurdities to recursive impossibilities.

Yesterday was a great day!
For the obvious reason, and I was just also commissioned to build the fastest supercomputer and self-contained render station/mini-farm in the UK.
My client was also pounding ale too. He want to come to America soon.
I'm so damn drilled.
I hope the hardware specs I gave him were accurate, and that I hope he remembers them tomorrow.

They only ask that question when they want to smear the GOP.
Scott Brown, who is indeed the face of the Republican party, is a winner, is popular, smart, and articulate.

Don't get me wrong, he'll still screw things up wherever he can through executive action but the big society remaking legislative agenda of health care reform, cap and trade and immigration amnesty? Dead
Dick Morris was just on F&F and he said they will still pass the healthscam bill by having the House vote on the Senate Bill. I sttill do not understand how they can do that since it is a revenue bill.
I prfedict that it will wind up in court. As for crap and tax, it was dead before the election. That is why the EPA is getting involved. Congress will have to take action to stop the EPA and they are not likely to do that.

Because it still originated in the House. The Senate passed an amended version of HR3590.
The current bill approved by the Senate is S.1796. This is the Baucus Bill. Looking at its legislative history on Thomas tracking there is no mention of this ever having been introduced as a different bill in the House.
IOW, according to Thomas this bill originated with Baucus and was first introduced 10/19/09. Based on that, and the fact that it introduces financial items it can not be simply approved in the House as is.
I stand by what I said. This should, and will, wind up in court if they do that.

The question is will he continue to try and ram those programs through what will be an increasingly hostile Congress (and fail) or move to the center and pass whatever pragmagtic/mainstream liberal policies he can.
Juan Williams was adamant last night that it is Congress who will ram the healthcare bill through. He didn't like it or agree with it but he said they had invested too much into it at this point and won't give up. And that Pelosi and company will say to those running for re-election ..."screw you, we're making history here. Do you want to go down as having been against such a historical moment?" So if he's right, we'll get control of both houses but be stuck with a piece of shit healthcare law.

T. Boone Nosepickens on F&F being feted as a hero. This man is a damn crook who tried to get Texas and congress to pass laws that would force land owners to cough up land for his power lines and wind farms (basically a land grab). He already had huge federal subsidies to build these damn things which have now gone belly up because he couldn't get them to go along as he wanted. Now he wants more laws to force people into natral gas, which he just happens to own a lot of.
The history books like to portray the iron magnates and banking magnates of the early 1900s as "robber barrons". That was what the progressives wanted. Instead in that era the real robber barrons were the railroad magnates who got laws passed that gave them sweetheart deals on federal land.
T. Boone represents the robber barrons of today who go to Washington and get laws passed forcing consumers to buy their product or killing their competion. The commies complained about "crony capitalism" under Bush. In actuality this is Fascism and CONGRESS is responsible for it.
If we had a true court system this could not ioccur because the government would not have the power to do these things.

Actually you CAN use Wiki for that by looking at each individual congress. It is of interest to note to the libtards that the last time the Republicans had a 60 vote majority in the Senate was in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
This is the main reason thre Supreme Court is a liberal majority.

This is nothing more than typical liberal spin. They always do this after a disastrous defeat.
As Dick Moris said this morning; this a sea change in politics in America. But as Juan Williams said last night, Obama will push for his agenda full speed ahead with no thought to congress.
Remember, the "won" has only been in two elections; one of which was basically an appointment by the Daly machine. He is actually a clueless idiot who has been "given" everything he ever had.

Riehl makes the point that Sullivan probably fabricated the email; the first clue is the description of Republicans as nihilists.
Last I checked, that term applies to radical socialist/communist "revolutionaries", not conservative philosophy. But then, no one can accuse Andy of being very bright, especially when he's in the depression mode of his manic-depression.

I'm not sure he'll jump but he's already running to the middle as fast as he can. In fact I got an email from him last week saying that he is championing increased govt investment in nuclear power. I write him back every time with: "I am gravely disappointed in Sen Webb. He is Obama's lackey." When you call his offices to tell them to vote against Obamacare, they actually write down your name and listen unlike the ones that act bitchy. However, I do think he is just another democrat and is crazy as a bedbug. Local lore says that he was such a problem under Reagan that he only lasted a few months. He is also on wife number 3? which tells me he either has poor judgement or is a dick.

The demographics of western MA (and southern VT) changed a lot from 35 years ago. A lot of the otherwise urban moonbats rushed to the countryside because it was less hassle (and cheaper) outside the beltway. When tech business around the outer beltway started appearing, it made more sense to live outside and come in, than live inside and go out. Even from southern VT, its not much more than a 1hr drive into the beltway area.

Let’s see … Republican running as 41th vote against HCR in “bluest” state wins .. it’s a sign the “blue” team must pass HCR by all means necessary. This level of political tone deafness is unbelievable. Talk about dense. Massachusetts voters weren’t mad because there is no health care reform bill or Republican obstructionism.
Massachusetts already has a rough equivalent of ObamaCare with 98% coverage. They were mad because the party in power had lost itÂ’s mind and was on a spending spree that will damage our country for decades to come. Congress was writing checks that the taxpayers couldnÂ’t and now wouldnÂ’t pay. LetÂ’s hope Congress learns that every problem doesnÂ’t demand a solution from Washington, and just because you can doesnÂ’t mean you should.
Perhaps there are Democrats who want to complete their “lemmings” death march as they kamikaze their way into the history books. Let’s hope it’s less than 50% of the Congress.

The left is spinning that Mass already has universal health care and that the federal bill wouldn't help them but only cost them money. Therefore, the election in Mass against fed health care cannot be extrapolated to the rest of the nation because the rest of the nation wants health care. Greta responded that the polls don't bear that out. The response was full denial of the polls.

I agree with him on Teddy Roosevelt, except I don;t think he was on the level of Pol Pot (or any commuinist for that matter). TR was a progressive in the trueist sense of the word. Hell, he actually ran on that platform.
The liberal history books all worship him for his "trust busting" but that was the first of unwarranted federal intrusion into the private markets. The only thing Standard Oil was guilty of was reducing the price of kerosene by a huge amount.
Even then we did not have a Supreme Court that was worth a shit because they allowed congress to get away with it.
As for Woodrow Wilson, he was a dictator during WWI, more so than FDR during WWII. (and that is saying something)

Teddy was in my mind the 4th greatest President we had and Beck constantly bashes him over populist speeches and even said he's worse then Obama. How many problems have we had in the Navy? Don't know? Didn't think so.
That doesn' t mean I would ever support him but I do think he is a loose cannon and could irritate the far left too.

he stopped the monopolization of American business, worked top stop child labor and labor laws that keep Glenn's ass from working 70 hours a week for horrible pay, cleaned up horrible conditions of how food and water was made/distributed and gave us some wonderful natural parks.

If you go back and look at the time period mkost States had already enacted laws regulating child labor. Correcting those problems, where they were problems, did not require the intrusion of the federal government.

As has been noted by several of us, as the mouthpieces seem to want to make us believe, there is nothing whatsoever to be learned from Brown's victory. In the Dems case, they are saying that it is head down, full speed ahead. They are lying - obviously.
But the Repubs, they act as if there is nothing for them to learn from this. They see this as their victory. A validation that what they are doing is right. They are wrong, and probably stupid.
They certainly have an opportunity here, but their problems with the people are no less serious, imo, than those of the Dems.
This election was not won by Republicans. It was won by independents. If the Republicans don't want to deal with having to fight off third party candidates in the future and thereby risk losing whatever chance they think they have at regaining a majority, they need to learn some serious lessons from this election, as well.
The most important, imo, is to solidify in their minds that just like the senate seat in Mass. was not Kennedy's seat, the money that they are pissing away indiscriminately, is not theirs. The debts they are causing this country to accumulate will one day have to be paid back or this country will fail. The power they have wrested from the states should be returned. Buying votes, by either party, is corrupt.
And that list could go on for a long time. And that's just my ignorant opinion.

I am ecstatic about Brown, but I think increased vigilance is in order.
My guess is the Dems will smarten up only to the degree that they are more clandestine about their goals. The biggest change in the last year from the previous 80 is that progressives stopped hiding what their real goals were.
They'll go back underground. Things will sneak through again, hiding in plain sight. Compromises will be made to give the illusion of moderation, while in back rooms the assfucking of the American people will continue unabated.
We need to make this clear, and we need to keep fighting them. In my view, it just got a lot harder to show the American people what these pinkos are all about.

But Obama and his team don't understand this. They're all A (Alinsky) offensive with no alternate mode. In a world of bimodal to multimodal systems, they're clueless.
Obama & his handlers come from Illinois, a state where the democrats and republicans are like the Globetrotters and the Wash Generals, they are the same team with different jerseys. There are very few politicians in IL who have principles and stick to them. Everybody has a price and can be bought....former Gov Blago (D-IL) is indicted and heading for prison, his immediate predecessor Gov Ryan (R-IL) is in prison.
Of course the Chicago boys think they can push ahead with their socialist agenda, Scott Brown & his victory mean nothing to them. Baghdad Bob was a model of clear thinking compared to the corruptocrats from Illinois, Obama & Axelrod & Emmanuel really cannot see what just happened last night. Expect more dirty deeds done in the middle of the night, more bribes (ala Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, union exemptions from taxes, etc). They won't stop until people from the other 49 (or 57) states make them stop.

OK, I see the Baucus bill that they were all talking about the "compromise" on never got voted on. Instead we get this. I note the original purpose of the bill:
Resolved, That the bill from the House of Representatives (H.R. 3590) entitled ‘‘An Act to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes.’’, do pass with the following...
The took a relatively innocuous bill that all were for stripped all the language from it and replaced it with healtyhcare. To me that is pure fraud to get around the requirements.
I see that winding up in court as well.

Yeah. I think they did it this way, originally, to set up for the possibility of raping us through reconciliation - if all else failed. Frankly, calling such a massive alteration of the structure and expansion of the extent of the federal government into the private sector cannot, in any way, be termed a "revenue bill" (for reconciliation purposes). I know that common sense and reason have no place in our modern courts, but if this were brought before me I'd hold the sponsors liable for fraud, of some type - as you say.
Sadly, Vic, the only way to stop the left is to physically stop the left. Any quarter they are given, they take and use in another offensive on civilization - just like their pals, the arab/persian/muslim terrrorists.
