Harry Reid Mystified That Hispanics Could Be Republicans
— DrewM

Just remember, it's Republicans who play on racial fears and pit ethnic groups against one another.

Not surprisingly, the local Las Vegas paper isn't outraged or anything. They seem to think the comment is just part of Reid's efforts to get Hispanic votes and is probably quite sensible in their minds.

Imagine the outrage is Mitch McConnell had said, "I don't know how anyone who is of European heritage could be a Democrat". Yeah, that would just be part of the campaign, nothing to see here, move along.

I really hope Sharron Angle kicks this smarmy bastard out of office.

Added: Via Michelle Malkin, Reid campaign doubles down on statement.

Delicious irony from the Review-Journal...Harry's son Rory is getting destroyed in his bid to become Governor by Republican Brian Sandoval. Sandoval is Hispanic and favors Arizona's immigration law.

Rory is that stupid.  I used to have to put up with these imbeciles when I lived in Las Vegas.

Rory would have that Jackie Gleason moment from Smokey and the bandit when Sheriff Burford T. Justice realizes the law enforcement officer he has been talking to is black.  His comment was "You sound taller on the radio."  Rory would say something exactly like that.

Hmmm....you know, maybe the whole race hustling thing could be used to good effect...

Why not have somebody call for a national organization for white people?  I mean, I know plenty of them who are poor as shit, can't find work, getting kicked out of their homes, get passed over thanks to quotas and EOE -- why don't they deserve their own advocacy group?  Sure people would scream about it, but if you put up a few of the people it's "supposed to help" -- then, don't they deserve some sort of "equality of outcome" same as everybody?  Is it right that they should be kept perpetually poor and disenfranchised?  Better yet, have some "people of color" suggest it -- because they believe in equality of outcome for their fellow Americans and are willing to cross racial stereotype lines in order to see social justice done?  Isn't anyone who comes out against such a proposition really just a hateful bigot and racist against the white poor?

You know, why not do a Gutfeld on the race pimps?

It's funny that this is the second time in a year that we have run into this same sort of issue with the idiot dems.  They crowed that Sotomayor was the first hispanic SCOTUS justice when that was obviously false.  Justice Benjamin Cardozo was the first such justice, long, long ago, but no one cared to count identities at the time, and being a Jew meant that he didn't qualify (by the Nazi-Democrat standards of identity - which serves as the bases for all dem decisions) as a true "hispanic".

Answered it yourself.  The same applies to African-Americans, who also are largely textbook SoCons.  After all, the black Obama vote was what put Prop 8 over the top in CA.

Also, as was mentioned above, the country of origin makes a big difference.  Cubans have seen first hand the end game of Demunism, and they largely want no part of it.  In other areas of Latin America the thrill isn't gone yet, although I suspect Chavez will be producing a steady stream of conservative expats if he keeps going.

You'd have to find someone with a serious death wish to do that.

At a minimum, Eric Shabazz Holder would find some way to prosecute the leader of any organization promoting white people. The MSM would say that everything in this country promotes white people.

Said leader would face being shot by some minority who "just couldn't take the racism" and "snapped" under the strain. The shooter would become a hero.

I'd say more, but telling the truth in this instance is scurvy racism, and I'd have to denounce myself. And face banishment from AoSHQ.

For the record: I consider Hispanics to be white -- how is a native/person of European heritage (with possibly an AA or Asian or two thrown in the mix at some point) any different depending upon what latitude they hail from?  How is there much difference between an Apache/Spaniard and a Cherokee/Scots?  One gets more of a tan and is brunette?  Big deal; I get more of a tan and have darker hair/eye color than my husband, we're both categorized as "Caucasian".

In fact, I find the whole "race" thing kinda ludicrous.

It is clear now that Democrats are adamantly against racial progress as it will hit them in their pocketbooks and in their vote banks.  After they smeared "the first black President", Bill Clinton, as a racist, it was obvious to even the most partisan liberal that they had lost any knowledge of the meaning of the word racist.  Sadly, now, because of this abuse, the utterance of this word from them is treated as a Tourette's flareup rather than a utterly serious matter.  The real victims of racism are the ones who will suffer the most.

Fuck Harry Reid.  Fuck David Axelrod.  Fuck Obama.  Fuck you clowns for treating this as a political game.

86 I have said on these threads many many times, your degree of "religiosity" and the affiliation of that religion has nothing to do with how "conservative" you are.

By the generally accepted definition, conservatives are either religious or in general accept traditional Jewish-Christian values.

Harry Reid is pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage, both things which bring him in conflict with Mormon teaching.  Mormons are at least as solid a conservative voting block as Hispanics are a liberal one.

However, like Gutfeld -- why not be quasi serious so as to call out the hypocrisy and outright lies of some of these groups (and their "liberal" white supporters).  I mean after all, wouldn't denying access to "social justice" mean that they hate these poor people?  Does that mean they really hate the poor after all?   I thought they were all about the care and the love???

How DARE you? Justice Cardozo is part of our history the moonbats haven't yet had time to rewrite.

Civilization began on Jan 20, 2009. Before that, all was dinosaurs, Ice Ages and disarray.

Sotomayor was the first real woman on SCOTUS. Kagan "looks like America" (if you think "America" is a fat, unqualified lesbian), and Osama Obama won't rest until the President of Mexico, Cousin Odinga and a Muslim terrorist take their places on the highest court.

94 I have a feeling Reid's Mormonism is just for show and a means to get votes, rather than any theological or moral conviction. If he were in the deep South, he would probably become a Baptist, if he were in Boston he would become Catholic, etc. Being Mormon is probably just a means to an end in Nevada and surrounding areas.

96 @ Captainfish

There is a difference between being condescending to a minority group and staring in awe as the former leaders of the kkk and segregation fool an entire population segment into believing republicans hate African-Americans.

To say nothing of the Dems implicitly genocidal attitudes towards Israel peace policy.

Oh, and before you whine about immigration keep in mind legal immigrants detest illegals.

Not to mention the rampant kidnapping and gang related incidents in border towns.

100 Imagine the outrage if Mitch McConnell had said, "I don't know how anyone who is of European heritage whites could be a vote Democrat."

Basically, the mythical Southern strategy, which is complete and utter bullshit and needs to be debunked once and for all. Working-class whites,  even those in areas with large black populations, stayed loyal to the Democrats after the 1964 CRA passage. This was true until the 90s, when the nation as a whole turned rightward in Congressional voting. But WV was the decisive vote for Clinton in 1993. They were never a slave state, but had a Democratic former klansman as a senator. Any constituency that relies on government largesse, and that always included poor whites, are reliable Democratic voters.

Jane, I have a question.  Will they still go ahead and eventually count the absentee and military votes?  And if they do, and she goes ahead of Deal, then what happens?

Posted by: Tami at August 11, 2010 08:03 AM (VuLos)

105 Tami, she said she's down by 2,400 votes, with not all military and absentee ballots in.  I truly don't know.  I'm disappointed she didn't wait.  My specific question to her when I met her was about making sure military ballots are counted, and she enthusiastically agreed.

I know lots of Mormons. Not one of them likes Reid. I know several who would like to punch his lights out. The rest think he is a disgrace to their religion and would probably not shake his hand if they met him in church.

If Dingy Harry is depending on the Mormon vote to get reelected, he'd best be fixing up his house in Searchlight because he's not going back to DC.

Harry Reid is a vile human being. Dingy Harry's lifetime ACU rating (as of the end of 2009) is 19. The average lifetime ACU rating of a congressional 'rat is 12. Ergo the U.S. Government is being run by vile human beings.

Good luck America, you're going to need it.

Notice Harry doesn't ponder how life long Democrats of decades could vote Republican? Your answer harry is because you suck donkey balls and you and every other democrat in office is a Hugo Chevez wanna be

Although I do enjoy watching your public humilation from Alzhiemers. Doesn't your son care enough to try and hide your dimentia from the public and cameras? Appanetly even he doesn't give 2 shits about you

The fairest and simplest way to examine situations like this is to change the identity of the speaker and message just a little.

(AP - Washington DC)

Today House Minority Leader Republican John Boehner said, "I don't know why any white people would vote for Democrats."

Funny exaggeration but with a kernel of truth. The house I end up building for myself will probably have the warmth and charm of a concrete hospital, knowing my frugality and (lack of) taste. Mostly, if I make something that looks nice, it's because I expect a woman to see it.
