Speaking of which--Blackburn earlier was talking about buying over state lines. Obama says he's "a proponent" and brings it right back to a mandate. To solve the problem of the unemployed not being able to afford it. GAHHH.

the healthcare summit; an anology.
The dem says "let's get pancakes" the repub and the independent say "nobody wants pancakes but you, we want eggs and bacon" the Dem says "fine, we'll get pancakes and you can throw some eggs and bacon on yours"
the Repub and indie say "WE DON'T WANT PANCAKES!" the Dem says "ok,ok we'll get pancakes and everyone can have whatever they want with them" the Repub and indie repeat "no one wants pancakes!" and then the Dems go the judge and say "see they won't let me have anything"

12:54PM Paul Ryan is reading the riot act. Too many facts coming too quickly. If anyone looks good today, even grading on a curve, itÂ’s Ryan and Cantor andÂ… thatÂ’s about it.
12:55PM “Hiding spending does not reduce spending.” That’s Ryan, and it’s your takeaway line today.
12:57PM Wow. Who’s got this on TiVo? I need a screen grab of something. Sometime around 12:56PM Mountain C-SPAN showed Obama just glowering at Ryan. I mean, a real if-looks-could-kill moment. Just brutal. No… wait… not “just” brutal. It was also quite revealing.

Be a shame if anything happened to them and the doctor was, let's say, otherwise engaged, too busy to attend to them. Wouldn't want that to happen, would we? Get the Obama is a liar commemorative plate!
Lest there was any doubt that Obama was lying about the CBO saying that premiums would go down, from the CBO Report on Premiums:
• Average premiums would be 27 percent to 30 percent higher because a greater amount of coverage would be obtained. In particular, the average insurance policy in this market would cover a substantially larger share of enrollees’ costs for health care (on average) and a slightly wider range of benefits. Those expansions would reflect both the minimum level of coverage (and related requirements) specified in the proposal and people’s decisions to purchase more extensive coverage in response to the structure of subsidies.
• Average premiums would be 7 percent to 10 percent lower because of a net reduction in costs that insurers incurred to deliver the same amount of insurance coverage to the same group of enrollees. Most of that net reduction would stem from the changes in the rules governing the nongroup market.
• Average premiums would be 7 percent to 10 percent lower because of a shift in the types of people obtaining coverage. Most of that change would stem from an influx of enrollees with below-average spending for health care, who would purchase coverage because of the new subsidies to be provided and the individual mandate to be imposed.
Average premiums per policy in the nongroup market in 2016 would be roughly $5,800 for single policies and $15,200 for family policies under the proposal, compared with roughly $5,500 for single policies and $13,100 for family policies under current law.
Those figures indicate what enrollees would pay, on average, not accounting for the new federal subsidies. The majority of nongroup enrollees (about 57 percent) would receive subsidies via the new insurance exchanges, and those subsidies, on average, would cover nearly two-thirds of the total premium, CBO and JCT The weighted average of the differences in those amounts equals the change of 10 percent to 13 percent in the average premium per person summarized above, but the percentage increase in the average premium per policy for family policies is larger and that for single policies is smaller because the average number of people covered per family policy is estimated to increase under the proposal. The effects on the premiums paid by some individuals and families could vary significantly from the average effects on premiums.

Doesn't matter, the damage is done. Obama and the Dems had a legitimate opportunity to reach common ground with the American people and instead they attacked strawmen and milked tear jerker "letters from home" for sympathy points. This is a serious issue and the Dems are not serious people. They are a disgrace, and people are gonna have an opportunity to see it.

Aunt Zetunni must be elated over this summit and especially the performance of Barack. America is indeed the land of opportunity, especially noting that the American people elected a socialist/Marxist to the presidency of the United States.
Giving Aunt Z the opportunity to continue living in public housing, receiving welfare checks and free medical care by mooching off the taxpaying public is the American way.
No job, no sweat you American assholes!

Dear DNC,
I suffer from elephantiasis of the nostrils. It is a tragic condition, and my peers as well as strangers make fun of me all the time. If I had health insurance, i would be able to get a nostril reduction and lead a normal life. Can you please continue your efforts to cover the uninsured?
Thank you,

Thank you for contacting my office regarding health care reform. I appreciate your taking the time to share your views. I believe the recent election in Massachusetts was, at least in part, a referendum on health care reform and the process by which it was considered. It is vital that we restore the confidence of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. Throughout the debate on health care, I have strongly urged Senate leadership and the Obama Administration to work as transparently as possible. In keeping with this approach, I conveyed my belief that we should suspend further votes in the Senate on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated, an event which has now occurred.
Our country still needs health care reform. The status quo of our present system, which is damaging our ability to compete and threatens to bankrupt our nation, is unacceptable. Across this country, people are one job loss or one illness away from losing their health insurance. We need stable and secure basic health care coverage. In addition, the billions of dollars spent on medical care for the uninsured is a burden borne not only by government at all levels, but by everyone through higher taxes and insurance rates.
As the Senate continues to debate health care reform, please be assured that your views will be very helpful to me and my staff. I hope that you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the years ahead.
Thank you again for your interest in this important matter.
Sincerely,
Jim Webb United States Senator Of course my "views" consisted of "No fucking reconciliation. Do you hear me?"

Yeah, it really does look like the Globetrotters versus the Washington Generals... except the Generals were part of the gag and worked to help the Globetrotters. The Donk team wasn't really supposed to help the GOP, but it did unintentionally.
I'd say the GOP did a pretty good job and quite to my surprise. If the public wanted facts, they got it from the Right. If they wanted emoting and hyperbole, they got it from the Left. Pretty much standard fare for the "great healthcare debate."

What it really looks like is that the Repubs have ideas & the Dems just look pissed off that the repubs aren't agreeing to just sign onto the bill the way it's written.
