— Open Blogger Jewbelation.

The set includes eight 12-ounce bottles of beer -- one of each of the past six years' Jewbelation releases (6), this year's release (1) and a new blend of all of them that was aged in Sazerac rye whiskey barrels (1) -- plus an empty bottle to hold the shamash, or middle candle. The He'Brew Jewbelation series, brewed in New York for San Francisco's Shmaltz Brewing Co., began with Jewbelation 8, which contained eight malts, eight hops and 8 percent alcohol by volume. Each year's new release ups the malts, hops and alcohol by one, meaning this year's Jewbelation 14 (also sold separately from the gift set in 22-ounce bottles) has 14 malts -- including flaked quinoa -- 14 hops and 14 percent ABV.

Too bad they don't have a 9th beer, symbolizing the shamash, the 9th candle (located in the middle of the Menorah) used to light the other candles.

IIRC, it is always celebrated from the day after Christmas to January 1st. Actually, I think the popularity of Kwaanza is fading out.

For Kwaanza, the family puts up a Reparations tree, which is decorated with White Guilt. The kids get pamphlets about how to file discrimination lawsuits and they make sock-puppets of Cornell West, the magical Kwanza fairy.

I haven't seen Jesus's birth certificate -- does that make me a "birfer"? -- but I think Dec. 25 was chosen as a convenient date to fir in with pagans' Solstice rites , not as an actuall claim that that was the correct birthday.

Men Taly Ill the new leader of North Korea nukes Seoul in the middle of the night.
Obama orders a preemptive nuclear strike on Perl Harbor to deny the North Koreans a chance to attack there next. Obama then send a sternly worded letter of protest to the United Nations, and feeling like nobody is paying attention to him, resigns the presidency to take up professional golf.
Upon hearing that Joe Biden says: "Oh no you don't, two can play that game", and also resigns before he can be sworn in.as the next president.
President Pelosi spends next week trying to find somebody still alive in Al Qaida who will accept a US surrender. Failing to find anyone above the rank of suicide bomber trainee - she spends the next week trying to surrender to the USSR before Vice President Kerry points out that the USSR no longer exists. Fortunately Documentary Film maker Michael Moore fresh off his masterpiece on the new Pelosi Administration: "Triumph of the Won't" suggests accurately that Iran will accept a U.S. surrender.
Happy New Year.

First time I even heard of Kwanzaa was in the mid 90's. I was watching something on Nickelodeon after Christmas and an announced wished everybody a "Happy Kwanzaa". "Kwanzaa? What the hell is that?" I thought to myself.
It wasn't until a few years later, after hearing about Kwanzaa a few more times in HS in the name of diversity, that I found out about Maulana Karenga and his made-up "holiday", courtesy of a Tony Snow article in Human Events.

I don't think the Early Church celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25th. This date officially became Christmas after the Roman Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity. The Feast of Saturnalia, the pagan feast celebrating the winter solstice, had been a regular part of Roman life for several centuries. As to not upset the populace, Constantine essentially fused the celebrations of Jesus' birth and the winter solstice into one huge feast/celebration, which we call now Christmas.
Personally, I think Jesus was born in September. Still, Christmas on Dec. 25th has been celebrated for over 1400 years. Fuck this fake, Marxist upstart "holiday".

What makes it so silly is the fact that Christmas, the real purpose of the holiday, is inclusive. It's a day for everyone; it's a day for peace; and a day for generosity.
But the Left cannot have that. They need to invent a holiday for the oppressed -- to create division, racial tensions, and to undermine the judeo-christian western society.

Unfortunately, I can't find the reference now, but I read - from an authoritative R.C. Church source - that the date was chosen based on the Jewish tradition of "integral age," ie: that prophets lived exact multiples of years (rather than partial years). According to this tradition, great prophets were conceived on the same date as their death. Jesus' death was thought to occur on March 25th, so counting nine months forward would make his birth December 25th.
Interestingly, to me anyway, this also suggests that Jewish tradition should not allow for abortion since they recognize personhood from conception.
I've read other supporting arguments based on John the Baptist -- Mary learned of her conception when Elizabeth was in her sixth month of pregnancy with JtB.

I could swear it was the 98 Broncos. I almost want to say it was when they played the Giants in week 15. They were 14-0 if I recall and the Giants beat them at the last minute breaking up their perfect season.

Jeesh. I hate House marathons...

There was an episode of House on yesterday on USA where it really seemed like the only reason he was interested in curing the guy was because if he cured him it would prove to the guy that god did not exist. People like that really are sad pathetic unhappy human beings. Obviously the show is based on "let's see if we can get people to watch a show about a guy they would punch if they ever met."

Problem is its the airports in Minnesota that are closed down.
I don't have enough information to blather on, but will. I'm guessing Denver Internationl got the plows out and cleared the runway. Only difference, a big one, the Denver storm had passed and the MSP storm has not. Will be interesting to see what happens.

So Jaun and Pedro were sneaking across the Arizona border to look for a yob in the USA when they got lost in the desert. After several days Pedro started smelling bacon and thought they were saved. Juan smelled nothing. Pedro became obsessed with smelling bacon and be gan to bug Juan, "Do you smell bacon? I smell bacon. Where is the bacon smell coming from?". This went on for hours finally a delerious Pedro shouts, "I know where the smell is coming from. Ess a bacontree. Ess a bacon tree!" and he runs off over a hill. His friend Juan tries to keep up with his friend but he's just to weak. Just then Pedro comes back shouting, "Juan, go back. GO BACK!". "Ess no bacontree" he gasped. "Ess a hambush!"
Sorry you took the effort to read that aren't you.

Also, he'd be unhire-able in any accredited hospital. Not just the lawsuits, but the employee and staff complaints alone would too much for even the most lenient admin. Harder to find than a Dr. is a good charge nurse... if she ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. He can write orders all day, but if there isn't anyone to carry them out...he's useless.
We have our jerk, but he works with our fresh out the cop car psych admins, so he gets a pass from us all (OK, sometimes he and I have our dust ups). Not many have the personality for that bit of fun.
The chief ADM Dr. I absolutely love--- as gruff and outspoken as House, but with gobs of respect for the staff and a great sense of humor. Plus he can sniff out a fake or someone hiding from the police in a heartbeat.

Green hadn't stepped into a hospital, although a warehouse full of health care services awaited her. She'd come for KwanzaaFest, an annual event that celebrates black culture and community."

There was some repulsive ghetto hashtag on Twitter when I woke up this morning, and it occured to me the best way to eliminate "racist" negative stereotypes would be a) for people to stop living down to them, and b) for the media and rich white liberals (BIRM) to stop praising people for living down to them.

I've said before: if the Army were smart, they'd immediately push for complete gender neutralization of all standards and living arrangements. Females would be required to meet the same PT standards as men, would share the same living quarters as men, to include showers and latrines, would be required to keep their hair to the same standards as men, etc. In return, all branches would be open to females.
Six months after the institution of such policies, you'd see most women out of the Army. I don't like that result, but it would illustrate the dishonesty of the "diversity" crowd.

Very OT, but Flopping Aces has an article about Colbert I. King's op-ed in the WaPo. They make the point that Obama should be supported on affirmative action grounds.
Sabotage the nation's first black president and the Democratic Party might as well bid farewell to its most loyal base of supporters: African Americans.
In 2008, the turnout of young black eligible voters was higher than that of young eligible voters of any other racial or ethnic group, according to the Pew Research Center. Consider them gone in future congressional and presidential elections if the left dooms Obama in 2012.
Now he's admitting that, no matter how incompetent Obama is, he must be propped up in perpetuity because of his symbolic value.
I knew it would come to this. I wasn't sure exactly when.

We were not able to act on it (b/c my f-i-l had already pulled the trigger before my husband and his sister could talk it over with him; f-i-l got Lou Gehrig's and died), but I'd see about having them meet with a lawyer well-versed in elder issues. There are so many rules about how they should handle their assets before they become ill or dependent - you need an expert to look into it. Otherwise, they wind up liquidating their assets (assuming they have a home) to pay for things, then wind up on public assistant programs.

Harrison looked REALLY long in the tooth in the last one.
Thing is, for characters and franchises I love? I want them to keep making them until they die or I die. Clint Eastwood's gunslinger, Stallone's Rambo, Indiana Jones, all those guys. Keep making them, I sez.

chemjeff, would your folks add you or another relative to the deed of the house? What if they don't need to go on assistance at some time in the future? What if, God forbid, they were in a fatal car accident? Why should the government get what they worked for and paid for? Maybe you could convince them to look at it that way.
I have some cousins whose parents are in really bad shape and shouldn't even be living by themselves. I couldn't believe they never got one of the kids' names signed onto the deed. It's not much of a house, in fact, I'd burn it down if I were them, but the land it's on is in a nice area -- and one of the sons lives next door.

Godammit!
I might have been the shittiest salesperson in the history of selling any damned thing to anybody but I really did want folks like your parents to buy my product!
"If it comes to that, I'll go out into the dessert and shoot myself!'
"Promises, promises old (man/lady)!"
If this were true, it would be impossible to take an easy hike on any local trail without tripping over dead bodies! Every damned trail-head would be clogged with aging parents trying to "spare" their children some hardship.
(Also, I do S&R, and I don't like being called out on my pager.
If I ever get called out and find that you shot half your face off, I'm gonna find some way to share that with your kids. Believe me.)
Okay, I never ever said those last two lines but I thunk 'em. All the time!
It's just so dammed impossible to imagine oneself,or a parent as potentially so helpless as to be dependent on aid for the most basic of functions.
But unless you get hit by a bus or something in the next few days, chances are, now that you've managed to breach the big 50, you and your wife are very likely to become 80 and 90 year olds....
(Also, never said that kind of stuff but maybe I should have..)

Most people would say.. First, Get Nekkid!
I can't argue against that but neither can I, in good conscience, argue for it either.
No one wants to see your junk!
Still, if you are really truly drunk as hell, go ahead get, Nekkid! 'cause you really truly could give a shit about what "everyone" thinks!
Go gets you a bicycle and find a shop-widow to crash it through!
Sure, on the first two shop windows the bike might bounce rather than shatter but you'll pick up the technique, no?
And who the hell is likely to try and challenge a nekkid bicycle thrower, striding down Main St.?
Nobody but nobody! That's who!
You should expect that the local constabulary is going to get involved, somehow.
Sure they have TAZERS and other such "less lethal" devices at their disposal but they also have bullets.
I'm not sure how exactly cops divvy up the "No, YOU take the drunk-ass Nekkid dude to the jail in YOUR car!"
I imagine it gets a bit complex, that right there.
So, expect to get shot dead and save everyone the bother.
