Herr Rasmussen McNazipants: Lowest Approval Yet for Obama
— Dave in Texas

42% at least somewhat approve.

Meanwhile the MFM reaction to Obama's major Oval Office speech last night ranges from "unimpressed" to "irritated", including this piece in the LAT. Gabe says it's a must-read and he's right, but check out the bonus "Charlie Crist scouring Florida beaches for signs of oil" photo.

Explosives found in vehicle at Army base in Ga.

FORT GORDON, Ga. — Authorities say a man was arrested after explosives were found in a vehicle on an Army base in Georgia and the FBI is investigating.

A spokesman for Fort Gordon near Augusta said Wednesday military authorities are not treating the case as a terrorist threat.

Spokesman Buz Yarnell gave few other details. A news conference was scheduled at Fort Gordon later Wednesday.

Yarnell said a search of the civilian's vehicle Tuesday uncovered a knapsack containing military hand grenades. He said the man arrested is a suspect in a theft of military equipment from Fort Gordon in April.

FBI spokesman Steve Emmett in Atlanta said federal charges are forthcoming but he does not expect them to involve explosives or terrorism.

34 The sad thing is that even though Obama's lefty supporters and media butt-boys are finally turning on him, they still haven't actually learned from their mistake. They're dumping in him for not being socialist enough -- for not nationalizing BP and jailing its management, for not shutting down ALL oil production, for not holding show trials of Dick Cheney and his former colleagues at Halliburton.

So while it's good to see them drunk-texting their friends about what a bastard that guy turned out to be for getting them pregnant AND giving them genital warts, their shriveled evil little hearts are still pining for Che.

Yep, things have been going SO WELL for Democrats lately we can surely believe THAT poll.  We will ignore the polls from Rasmussen, Gallup and NPR claiming the EXACT OPPOSITE is true.

P.S., I believe that the days of the MSM using bogus samples to get the polling numbers they want is waning.  They normally use these bogus polls to lead the news cycle - but since the public increasing DOESN'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THE MSM SAYS, it may actually have the opposite of the intended effect as people want to believe the OPPOSITE of what the MSM says is true.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Not a chance.  The Precedent doesn't care about being humiliated.  If he did, he would have resigned right after he was inaugurated.  His Precedency has been nothing but one humiliating screw up after another.  Remember how he was slapped silly on the international stage with his pathetic Copenhagen Olympic trip (which helped the US get tossed out in the first round)?  He didn't care.

The Precedent likes being humiliated because his personal humiliation scars the office, itself, and his main goal is to destroy our institutions.  He's a suicide bomber on his run, and humiliating himself while he trashes the office is part and parcel of his main goal.

Sadly, The Precedent will not leave, or disappear, due to any normal concept of humiliation or integrity.  That's not the way he's built and that is not in sync with his intention to tear our systems and institutions to shreds.

65 Nor is it simply the demonising of Big Oil – which makes the US president sound as if he were recruiting his speech writers direct from the student union – that has evoked the UK mediaÂ’s collective sneer. What has been much commented upon – especially by those fastidiously liberal BBC correspondents – is ObamaÂ’s pointedly bellicose language: the US is apparently engaged in a “battle” to be waged in very personal, anthropomorphic terms “against an oil spill that is assaulting” its coast. Considering how relentlessly the Bush “war on terror” was ridiculed, how long will it take before the Obama “war on an oil slick” is labelled as absurd? Given the tone of this morningÂ’s coverage, perhaps not very long at all. -- Janet Daley, UK Telegraph

Allow me to second what was posted above. Eugene Robinson is a racist and a far left shill. If he took a shot at Obama, then he is either part of a herd that is sensing Obama's waning influence, or he is showing a sense of observation that he's never previously displayed. He was one of the jerks playing the race card after Hurrican Katrina pummelled the SE.

Posted by: Blue Hen at June 16, 2010 07:56 AM (R2fpr)

69 The other weird thing about most of the criticism of Obama's speech is that it's critical of it as a speech. Nobody's saying Obama's incompetent or ignorant or full of stupid ideas. They're saying his speech didn't "strike the right tone," or reassure the voters as it should have.

This is the kind of thing reporters should mutter to each other, or gossip about during off-the-record prostate massages from Congressional staffers. It's insider talk. Sure, it makes you sound clever, like an insider -- but it has nothing to do with the problem at hand.

When President Roosevelt declared war on Japan, nobody wondered "how will this affect his poll numbers?" or "is he playing to his base, or moving to the center?" No, they wondered how we were going to fight and defeat Japan, and whether we should tackle Germany first, and other matters of real-world importance.

The political class, and their "journalist" lickspittles, are so invested in "winning the game" of electoral politics that they've forgotten it actually has real effects on real people's lives and livelihoods. I think this explains their confusion -- and anger -- over the less-than-enthusiastic response to Obamacare. To them, it's a clear political victory, and they literally can't understand why the people are concerned about what it's going to do to their lives. That simply isn't what they think about, so it sounds like an irrelevant distraction or even a sinister ploy by the opposition.

Except that only the federal government can nuke the well.  No one else has that capability.  But no one in the federal government has even broached the idea.

Other than that I am in full agreement with your post.  The feds' main responsibility was containment and cleanup - something well within their power and control, but, not only did they not do jackshit for that, they used their power and control to impeded the containment and defense actions that the states and localities wanted to do.  Add this to the long articles of impeachment that have been gathering ever since the Indonesian Imbecile slimed into the White House.

80 Does this guy not know crisis management 101?  First, SOLVE THE PROBLEM.  Then try to prevent it from happening in the future, then try to find fault.  He's going at this backwards.

But then again, he's never had a job in his life.  He's not going to plug the damn hole any time soon, but has never even mentioned waiving the Jones Act to get the oil skimmers here to cleanup and help stave off a few billion dollars worth of economic and ecological damage.  But then again, he's not interested in any of that.  Instead, we get a hack politician who is using the crisis to try to ram through his agenda, which of course won't plug the damn hole, or clean up one tar ball of thing girls' ass.

If you don't like Beck, ignore this post.  It's all over the map, but that's to highlight the chaos (that was for you, Kratos).

He called into his show today (out because daughter was hospitalized last night).  Here's his take.  It might look like they've turned on bam, but they haven't turned on communism.  They're furious the commie revolution isn't happening fast enough.  No prez in history with a 42% approval rating has ever revived that rating without a war -- bam's war is the oil slick.

Consider:  If we are herded into a place with no oil before we get over our dependence on oil, we are done. Democracy could disappear in Greece, Spain and Portugal.  The A'stan war is a growing crisis and more people are wondering if we should get out.  Our debt is held by China and at an all-time high.  So, in other words, everything is going to hell.  Alinsky says look for crisis (take you pick, Saul).  Van Jones and his radical Weathermen buddies (and buddette) want a violent, bloody revolution on the street to not only end capitalism, but everything that is a normal part of everyday life in the US.

Remember the latest ad for the Alabama guy with the Founding Father who, at the end of the commercial, says, "Gather your armies"?  Beck trashed that ad yesterday for being provocative and warned that this is what the revolutionaries are waiting for.

Just be patient, stay calm, and slowly but surely (it seems excrutiatingly so), the rest of the 42% will see the futility of Obama/socialism and we'll restore the country back to the Founders' vision without a French Revolution.

So for what it's worth...Sorry for the lengthy post, but I think Beck has it figured out.

Also per Rasmussen, for the first time in his Presidency, Obama's "strongly disapprove" portion outweighs his "total approve".

While its still possible for him to recover somewhat, this looks like really bad news for Obama.  Not only is he actually unpopular in an absolute sense, but the ongoing erosion of his popularity has to be coming from the middle now.

151 Could Obama Be AmericaÂ’s First Defacto President?

Innocent Americans increasingly are sent to prison based on false evidence manufactured by police forensic crime labs. Now President Obama wants the power to incarcerate U.S. Citizens not on evidence, but for what they might do.

Compare: Two days after the 1933 burning of GermanyÂ’s Parliament Building, blamed on communists, Hitler responded with a powerful speech before Parliament. Hitler asked Parliament to suspend sections of the Reich Constitution that protected CitizensÂ’ Rights and Civil Liberties. Hitler said the suspension was necessary so government could protect the homeland from being destroyed by communists. Hitler promised Parliament the Constitution would later be restored. After Parliament passed HitlerÂ’s Discriminatory Decrees and Hitler signed it February 28, 1933, Hitler immediately used the news laws to abolished Parliament. See HitlerÂ’s 1933 Discriminatory Laws below:

Obama gave a speech in May 2010, that proposed incarcerating in indefinite prolonged detention without evidence, any person government deemed a “combatant” or likely to engage in a violent act in the future; that would include U.S. Citizens “without evidence of wrongdoing.” With that amount power Obama like Hitler could arrest members of Congress, drag U.S. Citizens off the street and from their homes to be imprisoned indefinitely based only on Government’s claim they are a “combatant” or likely to engage in a violent act in the future.

If Congress approves ObamaÂ’s categories of people likely to engage in violent acts, overnight millions of lawful U.S. activists could be subject to arrest, Indefinite Prolonged Detention. When you examine ObamaÂ’s speech, it appears Obama wants retroactive power to incarcerate anyone government claims (prior) supported violent acts on the premise that person is likely to support violent acts in the future: U.S. activists would be extremely vulnerable because no activist can control what another activist or group might do illegally they network with domestically or overseas. Government would only have to allege a person; group or organization might commit a violent act in the future to order Preventative Detention of lawful participants with no evidence whatsoever. Americans would be afraid to speak out.  See: Obama Sound-Video http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/630.html

It is foreseeable any “individual” who writes on the Internet or verbally express an opinion against or entity of U.S. Government or its coalition partners could be deemed by authorities a “Combatant” or likely to engage in or cause violent acts: government too easily could claim an author’s writings inspired people in the past and will in the future to commit or support violent acts. It is problematic that indefinitely detained U.S. Citizens not involved in terrorism or hostile activities, not given Miranda Warnings or allowed legal counsel; interrogated, will be prosecuted for ordinary crimes because of their alleged admissions while held in indefinite Prolonged Detention. Obama wants the power to override the U.S. Constitution. Obama wants the power to detain indefinitely any American without probable cause or evidence, based on conjecture someone might do something violent in the future.

Obama similar to Hitler is centralizing power in the federal Government by getting passed legislation the U.S. government could potentially use to intimidate and threaten corporations among others. Hitler got passed similar laws shortly before the burning of the German Parliament building blamed on the communists. Immediately after the fire, Hitler used his new laws to coerce corporations and influential Citizens to support passage of fascist legislation that suspended provisions of the German Constitution that protected CitizensÂ’ freedoms and civil liberties. Obama is now approaching a position where he can use similar new laws, including the Patriot Act and 200 asset forfeiture laws to seize any corporation or individualÂ’s assets; and force U.S. corporations and other institutions like Hitler did to support legislation that threatens or curtails rights of Americans.

More recently Obama has moved forward to crush Free Speech, silence his critics by pushing passage of HR 5175: this abomination will choke the 1st Amendment, denying the right of free speech to ordinary Americans. Under Title II: groups like Gun Owners of America and other groups including bloggers that only mention “public officials” within 60 days of an election, could be required to file onerous disclosures–and potentially have to disclose their membership lists—despite the Supreme Court ruling in NAACP v. Alabama that held membership lists like those of GOA's) are off limits to government control. Is Obama’s support of HR 5175 similar to what Hitler did to shut up his critics? In the run up to Parliament passing his police state laws including the 1933 Discriminatory Decrees that abolished Citizen’s Free Speech, Hitler employed thugs to beat up reporters, arrest anyone who had courage to criticize the Fuhrer or his Nazi government or expose introduced legislation. Is Obama by supporting HR 5175 to shut up his critics, trying to take American to the same place?

Alarmingly the Obama Government recently employed a vendor to search Internet social networking sites to collect information about Americans that could potentially be used by this government to injure Americans, for example, if you apply for a federal job, your name might be crossed referenced by the Obama Government with comments you made at Websites against Obama; or if you make application at a bank for a loan the Government has control since the financial crisis, could your Internet comment(s) prevent you getting that loan? ObamaÂ’s monitoring of the Internet sites can too easily be used by Government to intimidate Citizens from speaking out. Obama Top CZAR Cass Sunstein prepared a 2008 paper that proposed spying on Americans, infiltrating groups and organizations to obstruct Free Speech, disrupt the exchange of ideas and disseminate false information to neutralize Americans that might question government. See: http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=121884
