— Gabriel Malor Obama has 22% strong approval, 43% strong disapproval. This matches his prior lowest approval index of -21.
Foreshadowing:
Overall, 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That is the lowest level of total approval yet measured for this President. Fifty-five percent (55%) disapprove. The President earns approval from 76% of Democrats while 86% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 38% approve and 61% disapprove. The President earns approval from 37% of men and 49% of women.
Data for these updates is collected via nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, just two-thirds of the interviews for todayÂ’s update were collected following the PresidentÂ’s health-care summit. Tomorrow morning (Sunday) will be the first update based entirely upon interviews conducted after the summit.

If you subtracted the black vote (96%) then whats his approval/dissapproval?
The OHbamaCare is dead. Reguardles if Hairy Reed uses reconcillation (doubtful) and it passes the senate (hardly probable) then the house still has to pass it with a majority (impossible).
This egotistical clown does not see November nearing, unemployement increasing, the debt climbing, revenue falling and kommiecrats bailing...its only the Monument to OHbama thats important.
Posted by: Serfer62 at February 27, 2010 08:14 AM (HLCnI)
What are peoples thoughts on the chances of them getting the healthacare bill doen via RECONCILIATION? cuz it looks like they are gonna try it. They will just bribe certain people and get enough votes right?
I don't think they are very good. They have to get the house to pass the senate bill first and I don't think all democrats are suicidal and the the house dems don't trust the senate dems. The GOP in the senate can drag out reconcilliation votes for weeks and pretty much shut down the senate when people are worried about jobs. With Obama sinking in the hitler polls I can see too many dems falling on their sword for him.

As far as reconciliation, it's a major problem. In the long-run, it's a disaster for the Democrats. They have a lot of residual feelings among people that they are the party of the working man (yeah, yeah, I know) but they're gaining a reputation as a party of thugs. Trying to pass something through reconciliation doesn't help.
I think they have 50 votes in the Senate, but barely. Reconciliation is a whole different thing and they'll lose a few just due to the fact that they're abusing Senate rules. One problem with reconciliation is that there are some parliamentary procedures that can be enacted to slow it down.
The other problem is the House. Maybe Nancy had a view votes in reserve last time, but she'll need quite a handful to make up for defections and I don't know that anybody who was given a reprieve last time will want to stick their neck out this time.

Yes, you people are finally beginning to get it. We don't want this thing to be killed. We want the Democrats to spend their time trying to pass this crap.
The clock is ticking and the closer we get to November, the harder it will be for the Democrats to put on their 'deficit hawk' hats and pretty to be fiscally concerned about spending.

My mommy and her live-in boyfriend can't afford decent health care. Last week when mommy inhaled a bunning roach during their weekly Thursday night bong party she had to sit in a hospital emergency room in agony for almost two hours before she could get care. This is America and people should not have to suffer like this. We have an historic opportunity to end the failed Bush policies of the past once and for all and I hope the American people are smart enough to appreciate everyhting the Obama Administration is trying to do for us.
Now if you'll excuse me, my diaper is loaded with shit and I have to go.

They know they are screwed for November. They also know what ever they pass will become permanent massive government entitlement programs. Their legacy will be set, as a victory in their minds. You will see many more bills passed with the nuclear option invoke. The worst is yet to come. The GOP may win in November, but America will be saddled with these programs for decades and decades.

I think the reason is that Clinton was so much smarter politically. Clinton responded to the polls
Clinton was forced to respond to the polls on the ideas that the GOP had when they took over Congress in 1994.
Before that he fought against welfare reform...even thogh polls showed the American peopkle wanted in
He fought against the balanced budget even though polls showed the American people wanted it
He fought against tax cuts ..he actually raied them several times prior to '94
He had approvals in the low 40s until the GOP took over..that's the reason he was a two-termer...he took credit for shit he was against before

I have to admit, I lost some sleep last night thinking about the fact that we now have a suicidal neo-marxist party in power that now thinks they have nothing to lose. It worries me that Pelosi will just bribe members with other things in the next round of bills etc to get them to go along with this reconciliation deal. Reid will do the same in the Seante, so getting the votes when they have such a majority doesnt seem that hard to me?
I was glad to see so many comments saying it was dead, or a long shot at best though.

If you recall, he fought against it as he was signing it, saying that it had to be signed but that he would get legislation through in his second term to undo most of it. Of course, that was a total joke, because Clinton never got any legislation through in his first term. But, he had to say that for the 1996 elections and his lib base.
The main difference, though, between Clinton and The Precedent, was that, no matter how much Clinton had designs to wreck the US, Clinton was still an American who had certain boundaries that he couldn't cross (not consciously, but subconscious limits that almost all Americans have, being born into American culture). The Precedent has no such limits, which is why he has had no problem breaking every legislative tradition and taboo that our nation has depended on for our stability. This is the difference between a natural born citizen and a citizen of the world and why the Founders tried to restrict the Chief Executive to only those who were born American and had never been anything but American. The Indonesian Imbecile has shown a contempt for our system and institutions that has never before been seen, because we have never had a true third worlder with little connection to America or American culture, occupying the White House.
And, sadly, these broken legislative taboos will not be repaired. Once taboos are gone, they are done.

Obama's best chance of getting re-elected is for the GOP to kill healthcare and take over the House and Senate in 2010.
At least then he can pretend to be the "protector" of the poor when the GOP starts proposing necessary, across-the-board spending cuts.

My turn to respectfully differ with you. The human animal is programmed to always try to stay alive; to keep fighting. It is why we fight to the last, even when any rational analysis says that we are doomed. All of the endangered Congressmen are trying to figure an angle; some dodge that will let them keep their seat while all around them are losing theirs. These guys are not Medal of Honor winners. They are craven and self-interested. They just haven't figured out yet how to say no to Pillows without being punished for it. They will vote no in the end, though, if they see that as their only way to retain their seats. The obvious disintegration in her control only makes it easier for them to walk.

C&P from "the Corner's" Andy McCarthy
Transformation
"On Sean's panel last night, when the conversation turned to how nervous Democrats supposedly are over what for now is teeing up like a very bad November, I felt like I was channeling Mark Steyn, Mark Levin and Rush. That is, I think our side is analyzing this all wrong: Today's Democrats are controlled by the radical Left, and it is more important to them to execute the permanent transformation of American society than it is to win the upcoming election cycles. They have already factored in losing in November — even losing big. For them, winning big now outweighs that. I think they're right.
I hear Republicans getting giddy over the fact that "reconciliation," if it comes to that, is a huge political loser. That's the wrong way to look at it. The Democratic leadership has already internalized the inevitablility of taking its political lumps. That makes reconciliation truly scary. Since the Dems know they will have to ram this monstrosity through, they figure it might as well be as monstrous as they can get wavering Democrats to go along with. Clipping the leadership's statist ambitions in order to peel off a few Republicans is not going to work. I'm glad Republicans have held firm, but let's not be under any illusions about what that means. In the Democrat leadership, we are not dealing with conventional politicians for whom the goal of being reelected is paramount and will rein in their radicalism. They want socialized medicine and all it entails about government control even more than they want to win elections. After all, if the party of government transforms the relationship between the citizen and the state, its power over our lives will be vast even in those cycles when it is not in the majority. This is about power, and there is more to power than winning elections, especially if you've calculated that your opposition does not have the gumption to dismantle your ballooning welfare state.
Consequently, the next six weeks, like the next ten months, are going to be worse than we think. We're wired to think that everyone plays by the ususal rules of politics — i.e., if the tide starts to change, the side against whom it has turned modifies its positions in order to stay viable in the next election. But what will happen here will be the opposite. You have a party with the numbers to do anything it puts its mind to, led by movement Leftitsts who see their window of opportunity is closing. We seem to expect them to moderate because that's what everybody in their position does. But they won't. They will put their heads down and go for as much transformation as they can get, figuring that once they get it, it will never be rolled back. The only question is whether there are enough Democrats who are conventional politicians and who care about being reelected, such that they will deny the leadership the numbers it needs. But I don't think we should take much heart in this possibility. Those Democrats may well come to think they are going to lose anyway — that's why so many of them are abandoning ship now. If that's the case, their incentive will be to vote with the leadership.
At the end of the summit debacle, President Obama put the best face on a bad day by indicating that he intended to push ahead with socialized medicine and face the electoral consequences ("that's what elections are for," he concluded). He's right about that. For Republicans, it won't be enough to fight this thing, then deride it if Democrats pull it off, and finally coast to a very likely electoral victory in November. The question is: What are you going to do to roll this back? What is your plan to undo this?"

Of course a couple years later he was bragging about leading the charge to reform welfare.
And he ran for re-election with the promise that he would 'fix' the welfare reform he had just signed...and conveniently forgot about that after re-election. He was a shameless liar, and a chameleon (which is just a fancy lizard, after all). No position he would take was more important than his immediate need to save himself, which meant he'd change to any direction on a dime, and that's what saved his skin and gave him a second term.
Hopefully, Obimbo isn't that flexible.

In addition, the sheer procedural obstacles are huge. And whatever they do through reconciliation can be undone by the very next Congress.

Another factor will be states who refuse to honor the Dems treachery. Cuccinelli in Va. has already said that he' looking forward to fighting government healthcare via the 10th amendment. I believe Texas will do it too. If we get enough states to say f-you to Uncle Sugar maybe they'll get the message that the same spirit that prevailed in 1776 is very much alive and well today in some areas of the country.

John McCain is either extinct in November or 6 years from now. A new day is dawning. Let's call it the PAUL RYAN era. Young, very young with a bright Conservative future. Sarah Palin is young too. The Republican party will either toe the Conservative line or be purged. And by Conservative I mean socially and fiscally. The LIBTARDS cannot paint Republicans as radicals after THURSDAY.

There's stretching a concept and then there's doing the impossible -- like, say, putting a bill on the prez's desk that hasn't been approved by both houses. Just couldn't be done. I don't know if that's the case with those "undoable" reforms via reconciliation. BUT --
I would say if they tried to pass those "undoable" "reforms" through reconciliation or ANY means for that matter, a determined Repub Congress (I know, I know) or a determined American electorate (yeah, I know that too) could still undo it. I mean, if the Dems are now going to accomplish their agenda by waving a magic wand, the Repubs can do the same.

There's little hope of the first happening in 2010, so we would have to pin our hopes on 2012. Most of O-care doesn't kick in until 2013, so 2012 would be do-or-die.
p.s. the "unrepealable" part concerned the death panel provisions. The Dems dicked with senate rules and inserted a procedural hurdle requiring a 67-vote to bring any bill proposing abolishment of the panels.

Laughably obvious, from the asian chick's meticulously offhand comments about "obstructionism" and "standing in the way of progress" to the not market tested at all hipster goateed guy in LA lamenting about obstructionist politicians "being for the status quo" blah blah blah.
How very odd, almost note for note what all the brain dead ozombies are spewing at every media outlet they can find.

Not on the colored curve they've been using to grade this dull-witted clown since he entered prep school.
