Hmmm.. They Cap It?
— Dave in Texas

Live feed.

I don't see any of that gushy stuff we've been watching for a while. Hopeful.

I was gonna add something about Spain's victory over the Netherlands, it was a penalty kick superthing.

Yeah. That thrilling.

It's a travesty that a sporting spectacle like that ends on penalty kicks.

They should have sudden death until forever.

37 DaveinTexas, you didn't watch the game, don't understand soccer, don't understand the concept of extra-time, just don't know what you're talking about. Spain beat the Netherlands in extra time. Extra time is 30 minutes long, and each time spends 15 minutes on a different half of the field. Spain won after the teams had changed sides. There was a pass and the ball was booted in quite neatly. Nothing the goalie could do to defend against it. The goal had nothing to do with a penalty kick. So all the ignorami (including Dave) who didn't watch but busily bumped their rubber gums, just chill.

They're going to put another stack of rams on top of the "spool" they just bolted to the flange. It's being lowered on drill pipe from the Discoverer Inspiration and is currently at ~1000 ft. It will take hours to get down there.

Not sure why it wasn't already staged since the DI has two derricks.

The ram stack will still leak out the top. They're going to put another top hat on top, but it will be a sealing top hat with access ports allowing production. Then there will be no more leaks.

They will also test closing the rams to see if they cen seal the well altogether, but that's dicey in case the pressure gets too high. The flex joint that is just below the flange they've been working on is only rated to ~3000 psi I believe.

That thing the arms are holding is a hydraulic wrench.  The camera goes to the guages because they monitor how much they pressure up on the nut.  They pressure up three times each.

You can see the hydraulic feed hose.   It's the red hose going to the wrench.  One tube goes in while the other takes the fluid that exits.

I'm a gearhead from way back.

Posted by: rdbrewer at July 11, 2010 10:27 PM (Md12S)

67 I was wondering what that business with the gauges was.

Posted by: CanaDave at July 11, 2010 10:32 PM (QY7/i)

68

Not sure if I buy what molan labe said about another stack of rams.  The BOP weighs 450 tons, and it sits on pipe that comes out of the hole.  I don't think they could stack another 450 tons on top of that.

I think with a clean mating surface, that thing on top with the big lip where the oil is not coming out, they can just put another top hat type thing on that wrenches down after hooking onto that giant lip.

If you look at the feed from Enterprise ROV 2 they were showing a thing that looked like a top hat, but I'm not sure.  The shot was from the bottom.  It looked like they were prepping it, cleaning the mating surface.  Not sure, since I figured they'd have to have a different, new top hat with the ability to crank down.

Enterprise ROV2 is the green looking one?...kinda hard to make out what's going on there.

Why would they want to put a BOP on it if the goal is to just kill the well?...unless they are planning to get more oil out of it?

Posted by: CanaDave at July 11, 2010 10:42 PM (QY7/i)

71

That green shit was coming out of a metal wand they had stuck up into a top-hat looking thing. The stuff was lighter than water and was pooling underneath in a large bowl-shaped cavity.

Then a Fritos bag drifted by.

Posted by: rdbrewer at July 11, 2010 10:47 PM (Md12S)

72

I was just looking near the top of the new thingy.  There are large arm type things mounted underneath the new opening.  Maybe they are going to use the old top hat, and the new arms are what they crank it down with.  I think that's it.  With a smooth mating surface and big arms to hold down the cap, that'd solve most of the leak problem.  Seems like.

Posted by: rdbrewer at July 11, 2010 10:52 PM (Md12S)

73

Fritos?...maybe the whole thing really is being staged and they're really only in 40 feet of water in a tank and James Cameron is directing it and one of the stage hands dropped his fritos during lunch break?

Kinda wondering what that green shit is...

Here's the old top hat.  You can see the triangular guide tabs sticking out of the oil plume.

Re that thing with the pole in it:  I was thinking the mating surface was inside the opening, not the flat bottom.  The top of the new section of pipe is a nozzle/nipple thingy with a big, fat lip.  That's where the oil is now coming out.  Under that are three large arms that reach wide and up--looks like they're for grabbing onto something.

The new stack has only three rams and weighs ~80 tons.

It will be no problem for the wellhead. The upper part of the well is constructed from three concentric rings of casing with cement in between.

You've got 36" OD casing going down 300 feet, then 28" down 1200 ft, then 22" down almost 3000 ft. All three strings cemented back to surface. That is not going anywhere.

If we say that each hermes scarf tells a story, then this volume is their anthology

If we say that each hermes bags scarf tells a story, then this volume is their anthology. Designed as an artist’s book, it illustrates the marvelous scarves instead of merely picturing them. It is the single language—scarf that tells a combination of themes, styles and inspiration like horses, sea, travel, music and culture. The book narrates the existence of the mythical silk twill scarf via images and text. It magnifies their unparallel charm while preserving their ethereal grace. This playful and poetic in turn, differs between full pages, cut-outs, uhxijhcvxid transparencies and various visual effects will guide you through a richly colored scarf world.

The words hermes taschen “ fashion victim” are the best to describe the art works from Anna Halldin – Maule. Maybe you thought it`s foolish for two women to seize one Hermes Birkin. However, this kind of matter happens in many malls all over the world every day. Anna picked up several most recognizable brand name bags to express the lunatic fallen images of women when they face famous brand.

Well, the pictures look true-life, but they are not photography works, but oil paintings only. The painting are a little exaggerate. However, we can not say that they are not real. As we all know, before August this year, there is a long waiting list for Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly. If you wanted to get one favorite Hermes Birkin or Hermes Kelly, you need to wait at least half a year. Once there are goods in stock, there will be a drastic fighting for them. Of course, the drastic fighting is silently ongoing. The one who is the super VIP members and has already got many Hermes handbags can be the most powerful figure to get favorite bags first.

We don`t know since when, Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly have become the symbols of social status and identities. No matter of the Hollywood stars, or famous stars of every country, or famous and rich figures in all over the world, each one regards Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly as the symbol of their social status and identities. They always depend on catching rare editions or classic Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly in high prices to show their economic strength and to win others. In this sense, the smoke of gunpowder for seizing Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly has already diffused for a long time.

Why are Hermes Birkin and Hermes Kelly so popular and sought-after by so many people? The famous poetry Sandra S Lampo once said: the world in the future will become a hand created world. In the unseen world, this sentence was written for Hermes, and also us, especially those successful people who love luxury products and also can afford them. For all of the Hermes handbags, Hermes purse, Hermes Belts, each one is hand-made. The top material and delicate workmanship win many customers` hearts. Its enduring classic and fashionable design riches the fashion circle. No wonder the products from Hermes group can be a standard to judge the social status and identity of people.

This year, new products of Hermes handbags for 2010 Autumn&Winter win great limelight of the public. It seems as if we are going into a varied, colorful and smart forest, Djinn Fairies around us, singing with their tinkling and fresh voices.

Let me introduce Hermes Birkin first. The so black series are the main products of this season. 35cm Hermes Birkin in full black design(black leather + full balck lock catch) in new innovation craft makes this star products acquire the effect as total solar eclipse, shinning with elegant, mystery and charming gloss, which easily makes us think of 2010 new film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The 6 styles of Hermes Birkin So Black series and the high quality material – Patent Crocodile and Matt Crocodile are the most considerate choice of their hosts. The unique package for this series is more eye-catching! It gives up the classic orange package, but uses full black package, together with the full black Hermes Birkin bags, highlighting its theme this time – Eclipse.

Someone thought mulberry is totally wrong to take such expensive handbag to go to work, because it may upset your leaders or boss. Some others thought it is OK to take Hermes Birkin to go to work, because this is belonging to their own choice and freedom. In my opinion, I think the intern taking an Hermes Birkin bag to go to work does not want to display her strength to her leaders or boss, but just wants to promote herself confidence. As we all know, as an almighty bag, Hermes Birkin can match all most all of the clothes. Wearing one suit and matching one Hermes Birkin, no matter from temperament or the overall mix, you will look great. As a white collar for several years, my greatest feeling is that confidence is so important to such graduates. When we are in school, we learnt something from books, less experience in practice. So when we step into society, it is hard to avoid meeting some problems. At this moment, do not fear, just be confident, nothing will not be solved.
