— Ace People wonder why, if this were true, it's being kept so quiet.
I'd have to think it's to 1) find out what he knows so we can roll up other guys before they're alerted that they may be burned, and 2) because a great mass of Pakistanis supports this guy and we may be trying to avoid provoking a crisis.
The report says he's in the hands of the Taliban-supporting ISI, according to this report, and, if it's true, then there's a high risk the ISI will just set him free. Or elements of it will, or etc.

in the hands of the Taliban-supporting ISI
THANK YOU. The ISI run the government-behind-the-government of Pakistan. So long as they're allowed to protect the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the other Islamicist terror groups in Pakistan, the war will keep grinding on. It's in the ISI's interest to keep all those groups alive so that once the Americans leave the region, the ISI can reconstitute them all and use them as tools for regional domination.

Gravity itself is because of Obama. If it were up to you rethuglikkkans, gravity would be given to Halliburton and we'd all float off into space and die.

Can't Obama ease up on the gravity a bit? It would be a lot easier than me losing 50 pounds.

I think this guy is way to high-profile for the ISI just to kick loose without creating an even larger problems. I think even Obama would have a hard time sweeping that one under the rug, even were he to agree with the ISI, and he might.
They could kill him before they fully interrogate him. That would serve their purposes too.

Pretty much the equivalent of being a radical muslim terrorist being incarcerated in a Yemeni jail.

Nab Mullah O. Keep for a a while, long enough for everyone to know he's in custody. Give his boys time to hide and go underground. You know, stay safe at all.
Collect US reward $$$
Turn in M.O. to U.S. By now all plans have been canceled, and everyone has moved. His knowledge is useless.
ISI shares reward $$$ with Tollybahn as a gesture of good will.

"He escaped, sorry."
Sure, they could do that, but even with Obama at the helm, that comes dangerously close to, or is, 'overplaying their hand' that could have some inconvenient repercussions.
Then again, if they perceive Obama as so weak and timid he would never do anything about it, they might give it a try.

Then we need to pay someone in the ISI off to tell us by which exit he'll be leaving. The Pakistanis can hardly make a big stink over us whacking him if they were letting him walk.

Obama won't let Omar go because it's bad for him, politically. Does anyone remember why Clinton got us involved in the Balkans? Allbright had been threatening so much everyone decided to just ignore her, and it was making Clinton look bad.

It's not a matter of letting him go- they are protecting him. He is their guy, their asset.
Posted by: nevergiveup at May 13, 2010 05:59 PM (0GFWk)
Not anymore. These days he's a liability, so I figure the most likely outcome here is a shallow grave in Waziristan. Omar knows enough to embarrass the government in Pakistan.

Can we be too healthy and live too long?
"I'm not just talking about the burden of bloated pensions or paying for Medicare, though these are real problems. I'm thinking about the cultural shifts an aging society is likely to endure. Off the top of my head, I'd say a senior-heavy population pyramid might see more cranky "tea partyers" and a less optimistic and forward-thinking culture. If the baby boomers live longer, we're bracing for a couple more decades of those nostalgic television shows that tell us how great the 1960s were.
If that isn't scary enough, take a look at Japan, which has the world's fastest-aging population. Its experience points to much more profound consequences: If too many of us live too long, however physically healthy we may be, it could lead to an epidemic of loneliness and ennui."

maybe to the central Gov in Islamabad ( such as it is ) but not to the ISI. Hey the Taliban are winning in Afganistan and holding their own in the Distant areas in Pakastan.
Posted by: nevergiveup at May 13, 2010 06:05 PM (0GFWk)
Too right. The ISI views the "official" government in Islamabad as usurpers, led as it is by a man who was driven out of Pakistani politics for corruption that earned him the nickname "Mr. 10 Percent." Of course, they sort of view any civilian government as illegitimate, because they believe they themselves are the only people wise and patriotic and committed enough to lead Pakistan to its rightful place at the world's top table.

"We"? Are you suggesting the Pakistani ISI is on the same side as the USA? Not so. The ISI are the people who turned the Taliban into a fighting force to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan -- and then turned the Taliban against the pro-Western mujihadeen. The ISI used the Taliban as a proxy for controlling the government in Afghanistan and to a large extent still do; they also equip and train other Islamicist terror groups to go after foreign targets, as in the Mumbai massacre in November 2008. The ISI are one of the great enemies of the West, on a par with the Iranian mullahocracy.

Why worrry? Why get so upset? If the libtards are so into Obama, the mostly strong leftist run cities are going to have to deal with the result. The vast right wing conspiracy folks need to just stay out of Time Square and NYC. After all, it will just be George Buooosshess fault!

Winning? No. No, they are not winning in Afghanistan. In fact, the trend lines are going heavily against them. They switched from small-unit warfare to IEDs for the same reason the Iraqis did - they were getting their asses kicked. And it's a desperation move just like it was in Iraq.
The Taliban aren't even the biggest problem in Afghanistan. The big problem is we can't get a central government in there the people consider legitimate.

Good - you're on the right track.
Next step: the Taliban are continuing to cause enough disruption that the US and UK are losing the will to stay in Afghanistan until a stable and legitimate government is formed.
Next step: Obama comes up with some kind of face-saving deal to get the US out of Afghanistan. "Peace with Honor," I expect he will say.
Next step: the ISI pours money and resources into reconstituting the Taliban in Afghanistan and they overrun whatever rump government we leave behind. And then the ISI will make Afghanistan back into a de facto satrapy of Pakistan, and can then turn its full attention to terrorism against India and the conquest of Kashmir.
But... stop the ISI from meddling, and maybe the Taliban can really be suppressed enough to stop disrupting the civil reconstruction of Afghanistan's government and infrastructure. And maybe there won't be as many Alliance deaths creating political pressure to withdraw. And maybe we'll have time to help the Afghans create more than a rump government. And maybe after we go, the Taliban won't have such an easy time reconstituting to take out the Afghan government.

The Taliban just have to run out the clock in Afghanistan, and their ISI overlords are probably going to stage a coup in Pakistan and take over within three years.
So why the fuck are they going to carry out an attack against a city that generally supports the same US isolationism that works in their favor? Why are they going to want to get their names in the paper as a threat to us on our own soil? Not "me", personally, since I'm hiding out in the rural South, but "us" as in "we Americans".
Tom Kratman once said there was something in Muslim culture that led them to "Make Really Wrong Decision Right About Now". North African pirates give an excuse to Thomas Jefferson's naval construction program. Saddam Hussein giving us a really good excuse for a big live-fire ShootEx in 1991 to close out the Cold War armed forces. I wonder if this might be the start of another cycle of "we fucked up" for them.

Not to mention sweet foreign aid dollars. I don't understand why we give the Pakistani government money, then the ISI works against us.

It is unknown who financed Obama's costly 1981 trip.
Two of the most important Passport contacts are the Occidental friends:
Wahid Hamid, (wealthy Pakistian)Â…
Obama travelled with him to Pakistan,
1981
Hamid lives and works in New York, NY ( PepsiCo, Inc. – SVP)
Mohammed Hasan Chandoo,(wealthy Pakistian)
Obama stayed with his family in Karach, 1981.
Hasan Chandoo has maintained contact with Obama: attended wedding in /92 and is listed as a top contributor. He is a now a self-employed financial consultant living in Armonk, New York, 10504.
