— Ace Just can't wean herself off the public tit.
Kohlhaas said there have been talks with unidentified Murkowski backers about a Libertarian run."To their credit, they have reached out," he said.
He described the talks about philosophy, platform and issues as fruitful and constructive, but described her candidacy as a Libertarian as seemingly impossible.
I am less concerned about this than I had been. I am convinced now that Joe Miller is a rock star. Yes, she can threaten him.
But this guy? WestPointDesertStormBronzeStarYaleLawConservativeJudge?
He's the next Scott Brown, except a conservative, red-state Scott Brown.

I find it more than a little interesting that Reason hasn't said boo about this. They claim to be real libertarians, not just potheads, but they're almost entirely silent on this topic.
reason freaking kills me. They are liberal on social issues, pure retard on everything else.
I bought the magizine once thinking i would enjoy it.
it shouldn't claim to be libertarian, it should just describe itself as a bunch of dudes unwilling to make any concrete pronouncements or decisions, but more than willing to complain about what we don't like.
Also, it is filled with statists who are liberal on social issues, therefore i guess they are libertarians. I don't follow that reasoning either.

Rubber Duckie, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you;
(woh woh, bee doh!)
Rubber Duckie, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true!
(doo doo doo doooo, doo doo)
CHORUS:
Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby!)
Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you.
(repeat chorus)
Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of -
Rubber duckie, I'd like a whole pond of -
Rubber duckie I'm awfully fond of you!
(doo doo, be doo.)

So far, that 45%—the cloture votes to get lefty economic horrors enacted, especially—is stuff his state's voters don't favor, either.
Massachusetts is only a couple points more "blue" than Texas, on issues. He could have voted the right way on everything and cost himself nothing—with voters. But he's not there to represent them.
The problem with blue-state RINOs isn't that they cave to liberal voters. They don't have liberal voters. They have other masters.

McAdams? Not so much. His tardness is real.
http://tinyurl.com/2eosl2r
But in the interview with RealClearPolitics, he demonstrated an unwillingness to answer some of the most basic policy questions that have permeated the national debate in recent months.
Asked if he would have voted for national health care reform, McAdams paused for a full 10 seconds before replying, "Let's see. One moment please."
Another 15 seconds of silence came next, before McAdams finally asked to hear the reporter's next question.
Asked next for his views on Afghanistan and TARP, McAdams said, "Why don't you let me get back to you on that."
Calls to the McAdams campaign and the Alaska Democratic Party asking for clarification were unreturned as of late Thursday night.

Alaska chose wisely.
Now that Alaskans can see that a conservative outsider can win - even against all odds against a powerful incumbent - they'll choose wisely again if Murkowski changes her stripes. When you're conflicted as a voter because you want the "sure thing" to win against the bigger evil, and today that's the Progressive/Democrat Party, you hedge a bit and rationalize with the known commodity - the "safe" incumbent with an "R." Well that paradigm was just shot. The "no chance" guy won and he got to knock off a philosophically weak incumbent to boot.
Miller's popularity will grow. He's no longer a risk as defined by those who deem it their domain to distribute the reins.

As a lifelong conservative, I truly appreciate your thoughtful and insightful posts. I often find myself concerned with the noisy, overheated rhetoric from the neo-conservative right, and wonder why we can't push our solid conservative agenda without the theatrics or wild passion usually seen on the left. While I'm 85% on-board with the tea party's goals, I can't help but wonder if such a rudderless vessel is really the right ship for our journey. It's comforting to see that reasoned, level-headed conservatism still exists. Keep up the good work! What a wonderful tonic. I'd like to see you as a co-blogger.

I think if the lame duck stuff is too crazy, people are going to be steamed. A lot more people are watching than usual, and they already think congress doesn't give a damn what they want. If something big comes down in Nov-Jan, and people are made aware, I think we can get Dems to back down, or at least motivate R's to immediately defund on arrival.
Obviously some amount of delusional hope is contained in the above prediction.

Talk about a clueless "lifelong conservative": David Brooks imagines the Barack Obama that might have been.
Obama, in this fanciful version, held up his hand. He told his aides to put away the history books and reject the New Deal comparisons. Unlike in 1932, Americans today have a raging distrust of Washington, he observed. Living through a crisis caused by excessive debt, they will viscerally recoil at the prospect of federal debt without end. “Somehow,” Obama concluded, “we have to address the crisis without further terrifying the American people.”
The stimulus package, he continued, should rely heavily on cutting payroll taxes. This, he argued, will send a quick jolt to the economy without concentrating power in Washington. It will deliver a sharp psychological boost to the middle class. It might even be bipartisan. Obama noted that John McCain had a $445 billion stimulus plan along these lines and his fellow Republican senator, Mel Martinez, a $713 billion plan.
Sure, but why would any stimulus plan be necessary, David? In any alternate universe in which Obama held those kinds of beliefs, there'd be an abundance of unicorns that shat Skittles and pissed ice cold beer, and we'd all live on the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

"They could want everything from a lunch at the Capitol to who knows what," Bitney said. (Oh really? Is he saying Lisa is going to buy her way onto the Libertarian ticket??) "I think these guys are a little bit star struck, and they're getting more attention than they've probably ever gotten in their whole lives, and it's got to be intriguing and exciting all at once."
Bitney said that he had "no idea" whether Murkowski was meeting with Haase, or other members of the Libertarian Party, on Tuesday.
"She hasn't told me she's meeting with them and I haven't talked to them," Bitney said. "All I go on is the rumors I hear."
Murkowski enjoys nearly universal name recognition in Alaska, a formidable campaign war chest, and could be a competitive candidate in a three-way race against Miller and Democratic nominee Scott McAdams.
Bitney said that Murkowski has received a tremendous amount of encouragement to take on Miller again.
"Somebody put up a Facebook site to tell her to run, and we're getting hundreds of emails telling her to run, phone calls," Bitney said. "There's a lot of people that want a rematch. A lot of people were surprised by the primary and there's still a lot of support out there." (Lisa needs to ask those people where they were on Aug. 24)

You know, you could hold your nose (or those noses around you you wish to convert) and vote for the other Republican - the one that did win - to accomplish the latter.
And not go around calling Angle "chicken-barter Teabag Bitch."
Just a thought.

Actually, Lowden was the chicken-barter lady. Only people that use the Teabag term are the teabaggees.

And they better do it fast. Any more toe-sucking over Jerry Rivers's 40 years as a public idiot -- during which time he has amassed more big-buck goodies than Bill Gates, which he's delighted to show off for the po' folks -- and I'm permanently switching from Fucks News and getting my news from the Cartoon Network.

Hey, aren't you the guy who was here several months ago blaming Marco Rubio for forcing Charlie Crist to jump the party long before the primary had even taken place?
And the guy who was here several months before that, doing a gloating victory lap over the Dems' impending cramdown of ObamaCare?
Yeah, that was you. Let us know what we're missing on TV November 2nd, jackass.

If you truly are in love with Monica you would be listening to her every single Saturday after Larry Kudlow.

Yeah, thanks for your concern and all, but Miller, Angel and Rubio are all gonna win.
The Conn. nomination hasn't even been decided yet.

The LP loses any credibility they may have earned in Alaska if they sell their nomination to Murkowski, and the transfer of money in exchange for a ballot-qualified party nomination to federal office is very likely illegal.
It is time for McConnell to step in and tell Murky the bad news: she lost, and she's done, and if she wishes to salvage any semblance of self-respect and dignity as she leaves, she needs to stop this nonsense now.

Fuck you. It's sore loser pieces of shit like Senator Veruca Salt (RINO-AK) and Buttfuck Chuck (OompaLoompa-FL) who are fuckin' up the works, not Rubio or Miller.

She gets bulldozed out of the way this time, even if she sat down quietly the odds are good she'd have to face Parnell for the Begich seat in 2012, and who might she have to face if she ran for Governor then?
What will the political landscape look like then? Will the purists or the porkers be ascendant in the GOP two years from now?

There's no reason EVER to support a warmist carbon-regulator in a state like Florida or Alaska.
The Dems had Lieberman wander off the reservation and get away with it, of course.
