Back in the day, when I actually had a job, I ran a place where the public came in all the time. We had a television and I put it on FOX all the time. Several people complained, always followed by moonbatty comments. I laughed at them and never changed the channel. In fact, if I saw them coming back on another day I purposefully made sure the television was set to FOX.

Plus, 3AM east coast is midnight on the west coast. There is only 1 timezone for foxnews stuff. So if they bumped it to midnight on the east coast, it would be on at 9PM on the west coast. And that wouldn't really work.

Posted by: Oderus Urungus at February 08, 2010 01:39 PM (1+Izr)
Yeah, I actually think that is the reason that Foxnews is not put on. There are certain people that flip out when they see it. Whereas conservatives are used to seeing leftist stuff everywhere, so we take stuff like CNN in stride.

Posted by: fartbubble at February 08, 2010 01:42 PM (cBeTr)
I suspect the reason CNN is every public T.V. I have ever seen is for two reasons.
Reason #1-The guy in charge of the remote control is most likely a dumbass, remember 52% of our population voted for President Wunderbar!
Reason #2-Executives know that putting CNN on is a safe bet, because they can be confident that nobody will ever be offended, because everything on CNN is watered down, and they know that most Conservatives won't complain, but still get a version of the news, even though they know they have to research it on their own because it came from CNN.

Actually, it isn't so much anymore. I took my dad to have eye surgery last week and in every lobby and waiting room I was in, Fox news was on. Of course, this is Texas. Maybe these doctors just know their clientele.

Jimi, I don't even think that they worry about conservative people. Most liberals assume everyone believes the way they do. The thought that anyone could disagree with the way the news is delivered on CNN never enters their small pea brained heads. They also consider CNN the only "real cable news network". They think it carries some sort of absolute moral authority/gravitas card.

Conservatives are not likely to fucking lose their shit if they see CNN. They might sigh and be annoyed a bit, but they usually have the courtesy to not give a shit.
But put FNC on, and there is a real chance of someone being a total psycho about it. They probably never watch news at all and are just convinced Fox is evil.
I imagine the number of people who hate Fox is much, much higher than the number who love it, but the haters don't watch news at all. Even Jon Stewart is asking too much. They watch Adult Swim and MTV and American Idol.

I think that Iran is going to announce the return of the Rat and the Turtles on the 11th.
They are going to splash down somewhere in the Gulf of Oman, and the Rat and Turtles will be captured by the Israeli Navy.
The ensuing war will be brief and a poignent lesson to the rest of the Muslim States in the region.
Sending Rats and Turtles into space is not kosher.

Heh! I wonder how all that hoax and change is working out for them. I was talking to one of our reps during surgery and asking him how much the tax will be on medical devices (as in the senate health reform bill). I can't remember now, but I think he said either 7 or 9 per cent. He was like "But we (the company) will be the ones paying for it." The surgeon stopped working, looked him in the eye and said "Get real, you're going to pass that cost onto the patients." The rep kind of mumbled, "yeah, you're probably right." MA has a lot of medical device companies that employ a lot of people. It was postulated that could have helped Scott Brown.

Yeah, we're capitated too. That's what I don't think people realize. And medicare reimbursements just went down for cardiologists (I'm sure some other specialties too, they go down every year it seems). I had to listen to some idiot I run with jabbering on about how we have a primary care doc shortage and surgeons are getting all the money, yada yada yada. I was like, "surgeons are in training longer delaying when they can actually start making money and their overhead costs, malpractice, etc. are a lot higher than GP's. I saw a very good news piece a while back that laid it out plainly. The premise was that if you wanted 1950's health care, that would be very doable, and for tremendous savings. Unfortunately, your life expectancy for a cancer diagnosis or your prognosis for severe osteoarthritis was not so hot.

Oh, I forgot to mention this guy is a total leftard. He was an Obama delegate, has drunk the Koolaid and still thinks Obama is doing a great job. He retired early, and he and his wife have a catastrophic policy with an high deductible, so they are really anxious to have the Public Option as they are too young for Medicare. WSJ did an op-ed a while back about doctors and how the number of people going on to be specialists is dwindling in certain areas (cardiothoracic was one of them), and how that is going to be a more acute problem a little later on down the road than a lack of GP's.

We tried private practice and that involved never seeing our children. My husband goes in at 7 am and returns home at 7pm. He travels and works on weekends. He has taken a grand total of 2 sick days in 20 years and that was for surgery. His blackberry goes off every 5 minutes at night. All those private practice guys that felt so superior are now coming to him to see if there are any openings. It's secure, it has retirement, and you get to come home at night. In the end we are better off . Is it sexy? not really Is it freeloading on the taxpayer? no, he works hard for his salary in a job that has to be done. I know there is waste out there but I think there is way more in the public school system.

No union. The Navy is essential. Not only can you not download porn, you can't access most of the commercial web including your home email or download picture attachments. You may be confusing government with the hill and their cohorts. Not the same thing. As for hourly employees who are in unions, I have no idea.

Nascar isn't me preferred motorsport, and neither is IRL, but Danica isn't that bad. she's just not as good as the hype might suggest. 2 top 5s at Indy (a pretty challenging track) means she's better than anyone here and probably has quite a bit of talent.
Not champion caliber, but good enough to be in a decent race.
I didn't think she was in the Daytona 500. I thought she was in the Busch race (I know it's not called that anymore). I bet she does relatively well.

ACE,
Tonight Hannity played the video of Obama delivering that bizzaro-rama eulogy for his 'nameless' campaign worker who - according to the Messiah - her most important life accomplishment was getting buried in an Obama T-shirt.
What's interesting is that Hannity's tagline sarcastic criticism was uncannily similar to your own from last week. Here's how Hannity ended the segment: "...does this campaign worker have a name. And if so, Mr. President, you might want to learn it the next time around, so it's not so obvious you're using her as a prop for your political agenda."
You wrote: "Memo to Obama: If you're going to traffic in this sort of crap, at least memorize her name, so her existence as a mere prop in your movie isn't quite as obvious."
Is this really coincidence? Or are you moonlighting on Hannity's writting staff? Or is someone on his writting staff a flattering fan of this blog?

"You wrote: "Memo to Obama: If you're going to traffic in this sort of crap, at least memorize her name, so her existence as a mere prop in your movie isn't quite as obvious."
Is this really coincidence"I can answer this for you.
It is obviously coincidence, Dave. This is what I said when I heard about this story without seeing it on FNC or this blog.
This is what EVERYONE said. "If you're going to use this bitch as a prop, memorize her fucking name first." It's just an obvious retort.
If you think it's proof of a conspiracy that a lot of people used this low hanging fruit retort, you are an idiot.

Dear Wigglesworth,
For your own sake, go look up the word “conspiracy”. Good boy. Okay, now use your newfound understanding of this big word you used in your nasty little post to notice that this same concept can be found nowhere in my post, number 584. Very good. You see, Wigglesworthless, in a conspiracy there must be at least two persons actually conspiring to covertly accomplish a goal. And no such suggestion is made anywhere in my post. But I realize you wanted to feel important using that small mind of yours. Better luck next time.
Okay, now I am going to ask you to do something really hard. Since you claim that “This is what EVERYONE said.”, you need to back up this claim by citing just one other major media outlet that used language and conclusion similar to Ace’s and Hannity’s. Let’s improve your chances and allow that you can cite MSNBC too - no doubt your favorite.
Now note that if you are incapable of providing any such quote, that you are precisely what your posting name implies: a petty fraud. DonÂ’t worry, you can find these words in the dictionary too.
