via Allah over at Twitter, and a commenter or two also I believe. Not sure, I don't know how to use the internets very well.
ALSO Unrelated but annoying, some French minister twit accuses US of occupying Haiti while we gear up to provide meaningful humanitarian aid, and Venezuelan twit echoes same.
ALSO ALSO Slublog puts me some f'n' knowledge with this (Times link),
In an interview on Monday, Representative Bart Stupak, Democrat of Michigan, who opposes the Senate bill in part because of provisions related to insurance coverage of abortions, said: “House members will not vote for the Senate bill. There’s no interest in that.”When the idea was suggested at a meeting of the House Democratic Caucus last week, Mr. Stupak said, “It went over like a lead balloon.”
“Why would any House member vote for the Senate bill, which is loaded with special-interest provisions for certain states?” Mr. Stupak asked. “That’s not health care.”
In addition to his concerns about the abortion provisions, Mr. Stupak said the Senate bill does not do enough to improve the quality of health care, and it preserves the federal antitrust exemption for health insurance, which would be repealed under the House bill.
Not that I put any great faith in Bart Stupak. I don't think there's much they wouldn't do to get this crappy thing done, regardless of the outcome in Massachusett[e]s tomorrow.

Doubt they will do this. First, there is no union deal in the Senate bill as it stands and Pelosi also seemed to put the kibosh on this talk.
Being the cynic that I am, a Brown win tommorrow will not only be good for the country in putting a stop to ObamaCare and Cap-n-Tax but it will be good for the Democrats because they get their villian back - someone to blame.
The last year for them was a nightmare because they had the mojorities and were running out of places to point their fingers. (The Bush was getting old.)
Posted by: madtechie at January 18, 2010 03:47 PM (5vrLJ)
The House doesnÂ’t have the votes to pass the Senate bill as is, otherwise they would have done so already.
Add into the fact that if Brown wins in a Massachusetts seat, Pelosi would be lucky if 40+ Dems donÂ’t run away from her, and 5+ Dems from Harry Reid.

Per my earlier comment at #65, I meant to say "If Olbermann's head [explodes like the bad guy at the end of] Big Trouble in Little China."
And I just saw the promos for the Olbermann show where apparently he is going to spend a whole segment talking about how Sean Hannity explaining that the Brown victory in Mass. is a "polical earthquake" is "Hannity's Shame" (Olbermann's words) because of what is going on in Haiti.
So I am not going to expose myself to that idiocy, though it is good to know that this is what the left is now reduced to.

A few months ago there may have been a chance that the entire congress would have followed Obama off a cliff like the rats they are. However, NJ, Va and now the upside down, sinking, underwater seat of Teddy "I embody the spirit of the democrat party" Kennedy is about to be taken by an extremely HOT, well spoken, clean, conservative. This guy can even speak without a teleprompter and a handler feeding him every line.

#4 is especially insane:
--
4. This is the "Kennedy" seat. For six decades, this particular Massachusetts Senate seat has been represented by Jack Kennedy, Ted Kennedy or a family designee (on a temporary basis). The symbolism of Republicans seizing the "Kennedy seat" is huge.
--
Yeah, well, that's kind of why I think it would be a good idea to get them out of there. Joe, Sr. got his money's worth when he bought that seat, so now it's time for someone who isn't a Kennedy or one of their puppets.

Don't think it hasn't crossed our minds. I think, while it's tempting to turn into Fortress America, there has always been a moral component to our civic nature. Despite what the international Left would have you believe, Americans can be generous and do want to help the poorest of the poor not just with money but with time and professional know-how.
Another way to look at is, in some cases, the US is the only one that can help. For example, not many countries have aircraft carriers that can be deployed to an area at a moments notice to provide potable water, security for incoming supplies, and electricity.
That said, I do wonder what it would be like if the call for US help went unanswered for once. It's more than likely that our detractors would not find any remorse for their behavior, and become even more vicious.

Look, I want you all to have a realistic view going into tomorrow. You need to look at these numbers and see how tough this race is for Scott Brown.
In the primary, 827,501 total votes were cast. 80% went for the four (D)'s, 20% went to Brown and his Republican opponent. Eight out ten people who voted in the primary voted for a Democrat. Holy shit. This is Massachusettes, though.
Democrats: 664,795 votes
Republicans: 162,706 votes
Coakley votes: 310,827 (47% of the total Democrat vote)
Brown votes: 145,465 (89% of the Republican vote)

I'd immediately hand over all ATC to them, and order US troops to drop whatever they were doing and start moving to points where they can saddle up and leave.
As a practical matter, I think this would only have to happen for maybe an hour or two. Just long enough for the French to realize the Americans had altered their posture and were in fact preparing to leave.
At the same time, I'd issue a statement that the US has no intention of being an occupying force, and is unwilling to risk even a whiff of that suggestion being made, so we've decided to defer to the French who feel they are more competent to run the show.
If the French want to own this clusterfuck, let them.

From the very recent analyses IÂ’ve read and the very recent videos IÂ’ve seen, BO, Pelosi and Reid are in a very bad position.
Assuming Brown wins (I think itÂ’s probable), the options seem to be for the House to pass the Senate version verbatim, or write their response and try for reconciliation through the Senate.
Both are political suicide for many Democrats; Ben Nelson can no longer go out for pizza, and heÂ’s up in 2012. Consider what most of the House Democrats are thinking: where will they get their next job? Given the unpopularity of ObamaCare and all the broken ObamaPromises, hiring an ex-House or Senate Democrat could cost many firms a considerable amount of clients.
The alternative is to let ObamaCare melt, the pour the remnants in the sink and turn on the faucet. This means Obama has wasted 25% of his term pushing egregiously unpopular crap. SNL was on target; heÂ’s achieved nothing.
One way or another, the Leftists get outed and exposed while in process of doing something both shocking and funny at the same time (way beyond handcuffs). TheyÂ’ll be out of office for 20 years.
ItÂ’s doubtful if Obama can change political directions. HeÂ’s grievously inexperienced (unexperienced?), doubtfully able to make decisions (Afghanistan), not well able to handle confrontation (he kept stumbling badly and his step off camera when being heckled might be unprecedented for an American President, even moderately experienced comedians donÂ’t do it; in any event itÂ’s a bad sign) and obviously lost without his teleprompter.
The entities that control his teleprompter are obviously political hacks. They might change political direction, but The Left, ACORN and the unions wonÂ’t be happy. They might just double down. Axelrod and Emmanuel know that they will have to face the Chicago machine one way or another.
Either way, America wins. But Scott Brown has to win.

Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama go to heaven...
God addresses Al first.. ''Al, what do you believe in?''
Al replies: "Well, I believe that I won that election,
but that it was your will that I did not serve..
And I've come to understand that now.''
God thinks for a second and says:
"Very good. Come and sit at my left.''
God then addresses Bill. "Bill, what do you believe in?''
Bill replies: "I believe in forgiveness.
I've sinned, but I've never held a
grudge against my fellow man,
and I hope no grudges are held against me.''
God thinks for a second and says:
"You are forgiven, my son. Come and sit at my right.''
Then God addresses Barrack. "Barrack, what do you believe in?''
He replies: "I believe you're in my chair."

Brodhead would welcome him with open arms now except maybe he's now culturally diverse enough. Apologies in advance for the lengthiness but perhaps another Shay's rebellion is in order:
New England's agrarian way of life, which furnished a subsistence and social structure for the rural majority, was independent-minded, community-oriented and traditional in its economy and cultural values.
New England's merchants and shippers, in contrast, had wide-ranging, dynamic mercantile interests and more cosmopolitan social relations.
Economic Crisis: High taxes, mounting debtIn the first years of peacetime, the future of both the agrarian and commercial society appeared threatened by a strangling chain of debt which aggravated the depressed economy of the postwar years. Many of the farmers were veterans who had trudged home from the Revolution "with not a single month's pay" in their pockets, but only government certificates they had long since sold away to speculators.Adding to the farmers' postwar frustrations, heavy land taxes undermined the fragile financial structure of the hill towns. Farmers grew indignant as they watched the furniture, grain and livestock of their relatives and neighbors sold off for much less than their value. As they saw a brother, father or cousin haled to debtors' court, charged high legal fees, and threatened with prison, the free farmers of western and central Massachusetts feared they would be reduced to the status of tenant farmers.
At first the farmers attempted to work within the framework of government, seeking only to modify it and (from their viewpoint) improve it. But by the autumn of 1786 state lawmakers had issued only small or token reforms, and these came too late to pacify the farmers, who needed immediate relief. With debtors' court still a reality, it now seemed to the farmers that redress lay only in open rebellion

104 "So I ask again: What the fuck good is "moral authority" in any measurable, objective way?" - Nom de Blog
The best way I can explain moral authority is to use an example. Do you read comics? If so, I point to exhibit A or moral authority, Captain America.
Captain America would always do the right thing, and by doing so, he inspired his fellow heroes to follow his example. Even though a mere mortal with powers far surpassed by most other superheroes, he LED the Avengers, which included powerhouses such as Hulk and even gods in Hercules and Thor. They all believed in the goodness of Captain America.
The antithesis to Captain America would be Frank Castle, aka Punisher. He also went after bad guys, just as zealously as other heroes. But he had no moral compunctions, for him, the ends justified the means. And while he struck fear in the thugs of the world, he never shone light in the cities he staked out. Citizens feared him just as much as the criminals he fought.
So in conclusion, moral authority is what Captain America represents. It's something that President Obama is bringing back to our great nation.

So he endorses Obama in 2008, and Scott in 2010, hmmm sounds like he blows with the mometum, whichever way it is going at the time.

71 If Brown shows up Wednesday at the Senate door. Those scrunts will most likely slam the door in his face!
They better be careful - somebody from around Scott's neck of the woods once said, "If they mean to have a war, then let it start here."
Sure, they left out the word "fucking" in "a war", and in "it start", and "start here", but I am sure you morons can understand it.
Wonder how many people the Tea Party movement could put on the Capitol steps in 48 hours in the middle of the week? My guess would be (just an approximation, mind you) a whole shitload.
Season with F-bombs as required.

William Weld, former MA governor. He's about as moderate as Republicans come. If I remember correctly he would have served as an ambassador for Clinton, but his appointment was blocked. It really shouldn't be shocking. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure he still considered himself a Republican--I was glad to see him campaigning for Brown.

He was actually a great breath of fresh air back when he was elected Governor of MA. He's from an old school WASP family, had all the right connections and so forth. 20 years ago, when he was running/winning the Governorship, he was kinda like PJ O'Rourke in the Statehouse.
By most accounts, his working days included the steady presence of an amber liquid. He got into a feud with Jesse Helms and instead of becoming Ambassador to Mexico he ended up out on his ass. He wrote at least one crappy novel with "Mackerel" in the title. Unreadable.

It looks like, and my memory suggests, that there are at least 30 posters who have a better claim and are much better able to spank PS than me. I suppose I had my chance last night, but he had already left.
Might I suggest a bit of poster-coordination when it happens? Some bait and a good setup, a bit of string, then an expose? No one jumps the gun.

Sally Quinn? Married to Ben Bradlie of Wapo fame.
Most famious St. Mary's Grad?
(That's St Mary's Jr College, Raleigh, not one of the other 100)
That one? She's got to be 75 or 80

RT @JoeNBC: Obermann calls Brown a "homophobic racist reactionary" who "supports violence against women." How reckless and how sad.
Wait, so was this the comment people were talking about earlier when they claimed he said that Republicans wanted to rape Coakley? It's a horrible comment, but it's not quite the same thing.

I don't think we should run away from the teabagger label. We are the teabaggers, and they are the teabag-ees. We dip our balls in their mouths.
Posted by: ol_dirty_/b+/tard at January 18, 2010 10:08 PM (IoUF1)
Yes, but those who looked up the definition of teabagger, and I admit I had to when I first heard the term, will see the tea partiers as perverts. Whether or not I am is between my wife and I and nobody else.

what's weird about the term is i'd never heard it until the left was calling us that, (i had to ask my 20 year old daughter, she knew) ack!

Is it me or does the guy look like he's packed on about another 75 lbs. since Obama got elected?
It's not you. Bobbers should get measured for a 52 long and pay off his expense account. That fat fuck can't afford anymore taxpayer provided meals.

Blue Dog Democrats are just cross-dressing Liberals. They are bought and sold buttboys to the libs and they'd sell their own mothers for a fucking Hershey Bar. Job one will be to wake up the Red voters and kick the lying phony scumbags out for good.
The Red state of North Dakota is going to lose two Dim Senators and their Dim Rep by 2012, guaranteed. The scales have fallen from their eyes.
I trust Barney Frank more than the Blue Dogs - at least he's honest about his slimey fuckheadedness.

That's when I looked it up. I saw the controversy about Anderson Cooper saying it and wanted to know what it meant. I saw him once on Leno and formed my opinion of him right then. I have never watched him on CNN.

Yes Kemp - must be the same Sally Quinn - she looked strangely deranged ... the hair - like some bad mannequin at a 5 & 10 store in flyover country or something.
#431 willow I had deja vu from the Monica Lewinsky days ... my 96 year old grandmother asked me what "oral sex" was ... very uncomfortable but I told her
her reaction .... Monica Lewinsky was a bad person, nothing about Bill.
Bless her soul but she would be voting for Marcia if she was still here.

Your point is well taken. Once LGF went weird, getting banned there was a relief. HA is different, but I donÂ’t post inappropriate language, or call for inappropriate actions. Drawing PS out on some point is one of the main activities on most blogs, and getting him to stand/walk under a bucket of Post 104 shouldnÂ’t be inappropriate.

Yea, but that was literally an eternity ago on the public pissed-off-O-meter. The opposition hasn't dissipated as they thought it would, and there's been a number of high profile notches carved on republican political pistol handles since then.

I love when our crooked political class makes fun of ordinary private taxpaying American citizens exercising their constitutional rights, calling them "teabaggers" and laughing at them.

Let me clue you in:
Young people
1) Don't vote and
2) Pay very little in taxes and invest even less in businesses,
they also
3) Grow up and stop talking like fucking 16 year-olds.
See how it works?

Chuck Barris (not Barry) hosted The Gong Show. They made a movie based on a game show. There are MPGs around. Not very funny. Apparently he was a CIA agent in deep cover while hosting a game show.
The Unknown Comic was Murray Langston. He performed, poorly, with a bag over his head. He was the '70s version of Donovan McNabb.
Jack Barry was host of Tic Tac Dough and part of the Quiz Show scandals.
George Barris designed custom hot rod automobiles. Apparently, no relation.
Chuck Berry performed rock 'n' roll, stealing his guitar style from a young unknown in Hill Valley, California in the '50s.
There was no Chuck Barry.
I like when AoSHQ sends me over to Wikipedia for some learning.

I fully support Sartha Coakley for the Senate. Scott Brown is a tea-bagging, Reich-wing anti-science Dominionist denier Nazi.
Also, he knows a guy named Robert, banged a chick once named Stacy, and he supports McCain.
Thats close enough for me.Bastard probably has a hood in his closet, tucked away between his SS uniforms.

A little late to the conversation, but I too have to admit to missing The Big Dummy...that Cap't. America, Sinestro stuff was beyond weird and had me laughing all day long (and even a bit of carry over for a week). The dum-dum song was choice too. That sort of weapons grade lunacy just isn't found everyday. Made up for his/her more annoying moments imho.
Well, here's hoping to a Brown blow out victory tomorrow -- I really want to see deathcare stopped (and possibly Olbermann and Matthews' heads synchronously exploding...that would be nice too).

Oops - I forgot - the US has no significant national interest in Haiti, so the "exit strategy" bit is waived. As long as we're redistributing our wealth to poor people, we can stay forever - and they'll give it sympathetic coverage 24/7!

You know, as far as the name-calling stuff, let's remember the the British had a derogatory term they used for the Americans - who then turned it around on the Brits by adopting it proudly. I can't explain exactly how that worked, but it sure seems like there was a certain "FU" (and the horse you rode in on) element to it. "Yankee Doodle" is still the CT state song!

The British teased and goaded the Dutch in New Amsterdam by calling them John "Cheese, John Cheese...." over and over again, which to the Dutch sounded like "Jon-key, Jon-key..." which eventually evolved into Yankee.
