— Ace He lied about his membership in the Kremlin-controlled Communist Party USA.
What is important to note here is that Zinn evidently joined the Kremlin-controlled CPUSA not during the “Popular Front” era of the 1930s — when many idealists were seduced — but after the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in which Stalin cruelly and cynically sacrificed Poland to the Nazis. Zinn was a card-carrying Commie who advocated Marxism-Leninism after the Red Army’s ”Iron Curtain” occupation of Eastern Europe, after the treachery of the Rosenbergs and Alger Hiss had been revealed, and even during the height of Stalin’s anti-Semitic “Doctors’ Plot” purge!
Revered on the Left, of course, and they deny all of this. They know it's true, but of course they publicly deny it.
Mustn't let people get the right idea.

The Left are moral imbeciles or they wouldn't be the Left. JournoList is a timely reminder of that fact.

There probably ain't nothing worth a crap in those FBI files. Remember, the FBI and CIA pretty much stopped watching the fifth columnists in the 1970s.

Being a commie, admitting it, and lying about it, and lyingly accusing anyone who points out that you're a commie, and that you admitted it, of being an insane Nazi, then chuckling about that with other commies, is what you have to do for the badge.

What possesses an otherwise educated and, one would assume, intelligent person to throw in with a religion like Marxism? Why not just build your own gulag and commit suicide ... save a lot of time and misery.
As an aside, I googled "Basic Marxism" just to refresh myself and the first site I ran into was typically Marxist. While assuring me basic Marxism would be explained, the rhetoric literally spewed and it so reminiscent of ALL Marxist literature -- turgid, voluminous, accusatory words. But it was amusing to see the same claim only in different words -- Marxism is just misunderstood by so many people.
See, if you and me understood Marxism in the "correct" way, all would be clear and we'd all be singing Kumbaya over our porridge under the stars.
I've been saying that about "The Great Pumpkin" for years but so many people have misunderstood. That jolly fat fuck still gets all the press.

34 While in China in 2000, amid capitalism that puts America to shame, I purchased a Little Red Book that vendors sold as a joke. Even our "guide" chuckled at the purchase. I'm sure there's a copy in the White House right now, and it isn't a joke to them.
----------------------------------------------
I was in the first wave of Western tourism to the PRC toward the end of of 1978. I bought a little red book then, and even then, the locals thought of it as a joke. Our former Red Guard guide (a wonderfully witty and up-beat guy, I should add) snickered as he leafed through it.
It was quite an experience --- people followed you in the streets by the hundreds, having never seen a Gwailo / "ghost person" before.
Drifting lazily down the Li river in Gui Lin, before millions of others did the same, was quite a treat.
As was seeing old Mig-17's on the tarmac at the airport.

Not really, no. The Right will never, ever, remotely attempt to fight domestic Communism, even at the point of their own extermination by the Left.

I like to push Bill Bennet's books on people as an antidote to Zinn's crap.
Paul Johnson's books are actually a better scholarly response to the Zinn school--extremely comprehensive and unapologetically conservative. Intellectuals is what Goldberg wishes he could have produced with Liberal Fascism.
Modern Times is the best broadside against the late, unlamented 20th century I've ever read--Johnson takes a dump on every socialist, Third World, communist reprobate that came to power. If you want to get an idea of what Obama's political philosophies are composed of, the chapters on post-colonial Africa and the "Bandung Generation" are perfect.
History of the American People is also very good, although he gives Nixon a bit too much of the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise, it's an absolute pleasure.

Zinn's book is the required text for General Ed American History in colleges all across the country.
Read it and weep.

I'm reading Modern Times right now. The chapter on the rise of Hitler was interesting. I always thought that the hyperinflation in Germany was caused by the reparations Germany had to pay after WWI. Not so according to the book. It was caused by Germany's spending truly huge amounts of money it didn't have to fight a war it was going to lose. Previously Germany used deficit spending to finance its wars which works only if you win and only if there are spoils to be had. A warning to us...

I'd be a fool to disagree with that! Just, it's too bad that nobody in the Right Wing saw fit to share this warning with Shrub in 2002-'03.
