— Geoff The pressure never lets up on the Palin family. Today they're after Bristol:
A state investigator is apparently checking whether it was legal for "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Bristol Palin to be in a downtown Anchorage establishment while dancing partner Mark Ballas performed.Uh-oh. But wait, there is one more exception:The question is Palin's age, 19. She could only legally be in Rumrunners Old Towne Bar and Grill last Friday if accompanied by a parent, spouse or legal guardian over 21.
State law also would allow her to be there if it's been designated as a bona fide restaurant, and she was there only to eat.A "bona fide restaurant" eh? Well, perhaps the AP could have done what I did: look up this gin joint online and see if it really is a food establishment. In the 30 seconds it takes to find and visit their website, you quickly find their dinner menu, which sounds simply outstanding.
I took the liberty of scanning the Steak portion of the menu (click to enjoy at legible size):
Da-rool, da-rool (4:42). Between that and the Klondike Bacon Cheese Burger, I'm not only convinced that Rum Runners is a "bona fide restaurant," I'm thinking about a dedicated expedition to Anchorage to dive face first into their offerings.
The obvious virtues of the menu aside, I believe that it's clear that Bristol had the right to be in the establishment - the only question is whether she was slugging down shooters and pints while she was there. I'm doubting it, and in the absence of some other indication of a crime, going back to try to find a crime smacks of yet another anti-Palin witch hunt.
And the AP's apparent reluctance to actually spend the minute required to investigate the establishment tells me that they're fine with that.

In any case, it's good for AP's readership stats. The anti-Palin howler monkeys come out and bleat "oh noes!" in unison, and decry the kind of Moral Decay represented by the daughter of a pol they despise.

this is in part why sarah will never be the president.
They will destroy her. We live in a time where you don't need to do anything wrong to be destroyed. The media will make things up or gin up nothing into something. We always talk about the decline of the media and popular culture tv shows, but the track record says otherwise. Obama beat hillary in the primaires thanks largely to the media. Obama destroyed mccain thanks largely to the media. Eric Foley is a household name where Massa isn't because the media.
We need to acknowledge the media still has an extremely large amount of power in America and that will affect you're middle of the road voter.

Western Union got its reputation (well deserved, at the time) of speed and efficiency back in the days when you really had to "wire" that is- send a telegram- for the money transfer. Basically it was the old-time version of on-line payment services like PayPal. With the ease of connectivity we have now, dedicated wire transfer services are redundant, at best.

Just riffing here, but doesn't it stand to reason that if Bristol was there on a promotional gig, her circle of friends would be present. A circle that presumably would contain other minors. Are all said minors being tracked down in similar manner?

Media trust now at record deficit according to Gallup today (FWIW). A new record of disapproval and distrust.
Yeah, the MFM still carries the liberal narrative and is often fact-challenged, but it is changing. New Media is circumventing the filters and the pace is quickening. No way does the TEA Party insurrection happen without that. The Socialists in our midst are getting exposed despite their efforts to hide and obfuscate.

Who initiated the investigation? Are such investigations common? Is everyone possibly under 21 at the bar/restaurant under investigation or only Bristol?
When they imploded Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, several of the restaurants at the top of Mt. Washington served breakfast along with a view of the event. It was spectacular and everybody had a good time.
Shortly thereafter, the liquor control board visited these establishments, fined and threatened them.
Did they serve alcohol at the breakfasts? No. Their crime? Opening before 11am. You see, most places with a liquor license have an additional stipulation that they cannot open too early -- regardless of whether alcohol is served.
I'm sure in the Alaska version of this agency, there are plenty of these types of busybodies.

154 BTW, use phosphate-free detergent in an EPA approved washing machine, you dirty capitalist.
Arrgh, we are looking to replace a broken washing machine, and the new models ARE EPA approved. Translated, that means that the washing machine has a sensor & the machine decides how much water will be used to wash the clothes. There's no way to set the machine to fill up with water, the machine decides how much water you get for washing. And the rinse cycle only sprays water on the clothes, the machine does not fill up with water and actually agitate the clothes to dislodge the soap.
The comments on the various washing machine rating sites are alarming to me, the consensus is that clothes are not getting clean, and the soap doesn't come out. Why the heck can't I put as much water as I want into my washing machine if I'm paying for the water?!!

It's the Cass Sunstein method of "nudging" you into compliance beneath the Federal behemoth. In your case, the "choice architecture" was forced upon you via regulations forced upon the manufacturer. You wouldn't select the unit you had to buy under your own, individual preferences, but the government intervened to force you into compliance at the altar of "Green" technology.
Not enough people are aware of this organized and determined method of consumer manipulation. Sure, we notice it in the marketplace eventually once the laws and regulations have already been enacted, but the insidious nature of it all and the psychological machinations of statists behind the curtain before enactment remain pretty obscured from notice. That has to change.

Detractors attack Bristol's choice of restaurants in Alaska AS IF there would be THAT many good steak and surf places to visit. She was escorted by her adult dance partner from the show. Besides, which restaurant in town did the AP claim would have been the better, appropriate choice for the 19-year-old to have patronized?

She did one PSA about teenage pregnancy that I can recall. And there was a single appearance on "Secret Life," an ABC cable-outlet program about teenage pregnancy / motherhood. That's about the extent of her "activism" that made it to a national level. I don't really know what you would call her "cause," though, because I don't think it is explicitly pro-contraceptive or pro-abstinence or pro-life. For the rest of her life (and probably her sisters' and brother's lives as well) they'll be (at best) treated like fish in a bowl or (at worst) hounded and harassed. It's truly sad that such a thing has happened to them (thanks, Democrats and media!) but its the truth none-the-less.
Remember that the Bush twins, they were allowed just to go away (though, when they made news, it was reported), and Chelsea was pretty well completely left alone (again, except when something she did was newsworthy: or getting engaged/married). The Palins? No such luck, there, I'm afraid. From LJ airing (probably false) dirty laundry at every chance he gets to Dave "I'll tell a rape joke about a minor" Letterman, the Palins are stuck being in the public eye probably forever.
Except for Todd, who could kick any reporter's A** if they got too close, and probably only isn't now because a Felony Assault charge is not a good long-term way to take care of his children.

Just to be clear, Al Gore's kid was busted doing 100mph+ in a Prius, intoxicated, with big fat bags full of Valium, Xanax, and a sizable satchel of weed.
And it still wasn't fucking newsworthy beyond one sympathetic mention, then down the memory hole.
Just imagine with me, if you will, that it had been Bristol Palin with all those violations. Good fucking grief, the Story of the Century!

I think the point is that (1) the "bio" is LinkedIn, which most of us know is a severely flawed system for creating resumes/bios and (2) someone who has not been to the Claremont Colleges could easily think that the Claremont Institute was part of CGU.
Really, I don't see a scandal here and I am not a fan.
When I went to the CI's website several weeks ago, I went to try to figure out what she did while she was a fellow there (to see if there was any evidence of brains in this gal's head). I couldn't find anything, nor have I seen endorsements from the current group of CI scholars/fellows. To me that's more interesting/relevant than whether or not someone did a sloppy job on their LinkedIn.
Hell, I have a LinkedIn that I haven't checked in ages, lord only knows what crap is in it. And when Facebook did one of its upgrades," it took my postdoctoral stints and turned them into degrees, so then I had graduate degrees from Brandeis and Baylor College of Medicine, in addition to the University of Chicago. It was tedious to "fix" so I'm not at all shocked if COD or her staff didn't bother.

Honestly, though, it is probably the "civilian" version of the rifle: which is completely legal to own and (here in Texas) even completely legal to carry openly. If the anti-gun lobby is going to cry about it being "an assault weapon" I'd point out that my fists can be used quite effectively for "assault." It's a weapon, weapons are legal, get over it.
Speaking of, though, why cry about what kind of gun it was: the fact he was carrying a gun in a "gun free zone" shows he didn't care much what the law said, anyway...

Evidently it was a college student suicide, and there are a lot of those.
That he'd be so public was his own determination for his own reasons. No telling.
But the way the police are publicly exposing the suicide victim's family is brutal. As if dragging their lives and all their home contents out to the street for public viewing isn't brutal, it's while they are in shock and mourning. Everyone who knew him has spoken up to defend his character, that he was respectful and wouldn't hurt a fly. The sophomore's mother ran a day care center from home which will now suffer though her neighbors defend her as a great mother of a very close knit family.
Morons need not attack the term "suicide victim" as used, as if the person is to blame when they reach that point of literal self destruction. I've mentioned academic studies regarding the genetic link between those who are extremely proficient in math with schizophrenia which of itself occurs without warning sometimes as young men enter adulthood. It's all horribly sad, too easy to get lost in such a huge university where academically he was doing well, but he just couldn't connect. People have such compassion for cancer victims, and such disdain for those who suffer mental disorders, all the more reason why the disturbed avoid asking for help. Rejection.

I spend part of every month in Anchorage - at the Hilton Hotel just across the street from RumRunners. They have awesome food and it's a huge place that caters to tourist during the summer season.
What everyone has to remember is the current Mayor of Anchorage is a weaselly little democrat and a majority of the state bureaucrats are dem sympathizers. This is gotcha politics of the first order and won't do anything more than piss off the majority a little more than it already is - and will make Joe Miller a US Senator in spite of Leeza Muffcowskis snit fits.

277 Bristol is beginning to appear to be an idiot who likes to have her face in the media, and while this is all bullshit enough of it can bury you.
The sad fact is the media will not redirect to more newsworthy things -- they won't; they are a propaganda arm so might as well get used to it. So you can't just focus on newsworthy things thanks to them.
So, only two things to do: Alinsky them right back -- focus on their shortcomings and hypocrisies as well as those of their masters. Unfortunately, in so doing you'd better forget about a free, open, and unified society for good -- it will either be one side or the other that "wins"; or, take the high road and hope for the best -- which means you could be allowing the leftists a walkover win.
Doing a little of both, and much of it ineffective and tenative, is a guaranteed loss.

Thing of it is: I could care less if Bristol Palin was even in a bar doing kamikazes and car bombs -- if caught she should be arrested just like any other citizen (if she got special treatment because of who she is that MIGHT be a story); the same would go for Gore's son, Biden's daughter, Chelsea and the Bush twins...and even Obama's cocaine use in hs/college. It is a matter of so what, just as long as they don't get any less/more treatment if found in violation of the law than any other citizen.
I could care less about those things; I care about deficits, wars, terrorism, civil unrest, domestic and foreign policy...that sort of thing.

The Bob & Mark show set up this gig for Mark. Sarah and Bristol were on their show on September 21st. They mentioned the gig for Mark and they were giving away tickets and noticed how many women were trying for the tickets. Sarah then said that she thought Bristol couldn't go, because she's under 21. Bob and Mark both made it very clear to Sarah that Rumrunners was picked in order for Bristol to be able to go! Because, it's a restaurant.
Why hasn't anyone else mentioned this, I don't know. All that needs to be done is for that clip of that interview to be played.
Also, Mark Ballas does a journal type thing for USAToday.com. He mentioned that there were a lot of people at Rumrunners for his gig and he really appreciated it.
All that Bristol was doing was supporting a friend for his music career.
