I've had it with "someguy," myself. But I don't want to get all Charles Johnson here. I'll leave it up to you.

On one hand, he's a humorless, useless, brainless sanctimonious troll who has nothing to do all day but bitch and crow about how he and he alone is a True Conservative greatly concerned with Winning Back Our Freedom, primarily by being a 24/7 asshole in the comments.

On the other hand, Warden and other commenters had an awful lot of fun parodying his rhetorical style (read his initial comments at the beginning of the thread, then check down to post 75 where Warden and others mock him).

So -- should I ban him?

I voted for keeping him around awhile. The other night, I was laughing so hard at the the original thread that I woke my wife. This is why I love AOSHQ.

Here's why:

1) I am a conservative with very passionate feelings about defeating Democrat socialism.

2) I strongly believe that in order to do so, the Republican Party has to be pushed rightward ... so, naturally, I'll have a lot of things to say about RINOs. And the Republican Party is full of them.

3) I see a lot of mistakes being made by this blog, which could be a great conservative voice. You might not agree with me ... but are we not free to voice our opinions here?

Personally I don't really care much either way, I find him amusing in an infantile sort of way but for the most part I just ignore him, so if he isn't really bothering you he certainly isn't bothering me.

It is rather fun on occasion though to watch some of the others rip his stupidity to shreds. But hey, if you think it's some sort of detriment to the board as a whole then your well within your rights to enforce a ban.

I think anyone who reads the comments on the board realizes that such bans are not something you enforce for simple disagreements of opinion. While I'm sure this is what someguy will scream at the top of his lungs over at the DailyKos and The HuffPuffy Post anyone who of stops by here once or twice will quickly discover the truth.

I mentioned in a post the other day that one of the reasons that I haven't donated to your blog is that you ban people who you disagree with or who you find disagreeable. Lots of commenters tried to claim I was out of bounds with that claim.
Um, Ace and I have disagreed vehemently on several occasions. Admittedly I didn't start calling him a dumb motherfucker and insinuate I should be running his site and calling the shots... oddly I wasn't under the ban hammer for simply disagreeing. I kept my insults aimed at him within a decent range of vitriol. I stated he was wrong; not that I was the one person to fix his damned site for him since he couldn't possibly do it himself.

He made a crack about Libertarians (that I called him on excessively, twice I think) I disagreed violently on a couple other posts; and I've been something of a schmuck on disagreeing about the bank bailouts. But I didn't show up here one day cranked to 11 on jackassery.

This doesn't seem to be getting answered. I *think* it's like when Obama went on a mission to destroy FNC, or earlier, Rush Limbaugh. The idea is you don't pick a fight with someone who's 'less' than you in some sense, because you diminish your stature (people think why are you wasting your time) and elevate the opponent (people get curious about what you're making such a big deal about it).

I merely am pointing out, for all to see, some major league hypocrisy on the part of the blog owners. When Democrats use the politics of personal destruction and try to protest outside the homes of AIG executives, there is condemnation all around.

When I criticized AoSHQ, a banning vote is held and my IP address and home city are released by a commenter who supposedly is a normal commenter, but who revealed himself to have access to the blog's server logs (usually an administrative function).

That's not a threat.

Just documenting what occurred and noting how hypocritical it is that when Democrats destroyed Joe The Plumber, there was condemnation all around. And yet when some two-bit commenter says the wrong thing here, the Swastikas come right out.
