Irate JetBlue Flight Attendant Meltdown Animation!
— DrewM

We got a teaser of it yesterday but today we get the full show.

The NY Post as you might imagine is having way too much fun with this story.

Steven Slater's ex-wife, Cynthia Susanne Neithamer, told The Post that her former spouse "has been a fantastic and devoted flight attendant.

"I'm just really surprised [at what he did] because he really loves his job," Neithamer, 38, said outside her Branson, Mo., home.

Neithamer's grandfather, Harry, 82, said the incident was clearly the passenger's fault.

"That passenger must a bitch, just a pure bitch, because nobody else could get him wound up like that," the granddad told The Post.

"He's just a straight person," he said of Slater. "When I first heard about it, I thought they had the wrong name, until I saw the picture of Stevie."

As for the CGI animation stuff, when the hell are US news organization going to get on this? I really want to see Red Eye commission one of them to demonstrate what it will be like when Greg Gutfeld's gay bar opens next to the Ground Zero mosque.

More: Not related but awesome...Michelle Obama's Spanish sojourn animated.

Amazingly, the Democrats are still pinning their hopes on her as a campaign star this fall. Yeah, good luck with that.

1 Its all grey to me.

2 Y'know, I'm not big on boxing this guy in by charging him with a crime. Seems to be gray area to me......

3 "He's just a straight person," he said of Slater.

Ex-wife?

Something doesn't add up.

And Ace is clearly posting under Drew's login.  So gray......

4 God bless Taiwan.  Wonder what it would be like as a tourist destination?

5 Which one of us hasn't wanted to grab a few beers, deploy the emergency slide, and get the fuck off the plane?

6 WTH is the trailer at the end about???? They must think the appeal of this story is the ghey part!

7 I like how the real-life E-Jet suddenly becomes a 747 in the animation.

8 2 Y'know, I'm not big on boxing this guy in by charging him with a crime. Seems to be gray area to me......

Me neither, but evidentally if somebody does anything to interfere with the normal functioning of an airplane, it's a crime.

5 Which one of us hasn't wanted to grab a few beers, deploy the emergency slide, and get the fuck off the plane?

Heh, I wish I could grab some Rolling Rocks, get into an emergency space shuttle, and get off this fuckin' planet.

9 The networks could save a lot of money by getting rid of the stupid talking heads and going to this form of reporting.

They can also not worry about what actually happened either. The average Bammy voter would probably think these animations are just as accurate as video footage.

Unfortunately with the way the networks edit the video footage they would probably be right.

Does his boyfriend know that?

12 "As for the CGI animation stuff, when the hell are US news organization going to get on this? I really want to see Red Eye commission one of them to demonstrate what it will be like when Greg Gutfeld's gay bar opens next to the Ground Zero mosque."

They should outsource the network evening news to them.

Are the rumors true that the guy had a lot of heavy heavy family stuff going on his life, stuff that matters and that's why he lost it?

18 Jane@4. Taiwan honestly stinks as a destination, sadly. And I quite literally mean stink--there is no fouler smell than street vendors selling fried tofu.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Posted by: jakeman at August 11, 2010 08:01 AM (8QmEC)

19 I don't think they can get him on "interfering with the operations of an airliner" because he was an on-duty employee.

Posted by: Jean at August 11, 2010 08:02 AM (WkuV6)

20 Michelle's complexion is not dark enough in the animation.

Racists!

Slater used to be straight and sane back in 1996.  His brain overheated when he got beat 36 times in a row at Starcraft by Taiwan schoolchildren.

/completing the loop so you don't have to!

22 Michelle's animation is wayyyy too attractive.  I do love the blowing kisses to the crowd, though.

23 I don't think they can get him on "interfering with the operations of an airliner" because he was an on-duty employee.

The initial charge rarely means anything any more. It is something to give them a starting point for plea-bargaining.

He will most likely plead guilty to some misdemeanor offense and accept probation.

Actually brother, that was an AoS HTML fail joke......

As much as we razz the Ewok and the cob-loggers about loose shit, I almost wish they'd leave it up longer when it happens. Then I wouldn't look like a retard in comparison.

Posted by: IllTemperedCur at August 11, 2010 08:11 AM (P9+0W)

25 He will most likely plead guilty to some misdemeanor offense and accept probation.

The Johnny Cochrane Law Firm has an office in NYC.

They're going to get a brain scan showing that the bonk he sustained from the falling luggage caused the outburst.

"Since his head was hit, you must acquit."

Oh, and I humbly submit Michelle's campaign bumper-sticker for Fall:

[Michelle: Finally Proud of You!]

27 PFC Manning: boyfriend issues, steal and deliver over 100,000 classified documents about operations in Afghanistan and Iraq to Wikileaks. Slater: boyfriend issues, lose it on a plane after 28 years as a flight attendant. It all makes sense to me.

32 I doubt Slater's duties were to grab beers, inflate the emergency shoot and slide on down to infamy. So, yes, he was interfering with the airline.

36 Jane - Taiwan's a great place. You will not find better Chinese food on the face of the planet, stinky tofu notwithstanding. Lots of gorgeous scenery once you get out of the cities. I guess it all depends on what you think constitutes a good vacation. For me, it's the people - my Taiwanese relatives are awesome and I love spending time with them. Maybe jakeman couldn't score with any cute Taiwanese chicks?

Wouldn't that make you an Angry Taiwanese Beaver???

Posted by: mpfs at August 11, 2010 09:15 AM (iYbLN)

38 AB: A friend of mine went to Taiwan to visit inlaws and he had a great time, too.

Posted by: Moi at August 11, 2010 09:16 AM (Ez4Ql)

39 Animation can't be cheaper than news stock footage, can it? Maybe, the Taiwanese use it because it is such a crowd pleaser - at least when there is a humping poodle involved.

Posted by: Moi at August 11, 2010 09:21 AM (Ez4Ql)

40 mpfs: I'm a halfie, and "Angry Half-Taiwanese Half-White Devil Beaver" didn't quite fit in that blank.

I'm hoping I can scrape together enough cash to get back there before the impending Commie takeover. I don't have to worry about a place to stay but paying for plane tix is a bitch.

Posted by: Angry Beaver at August 11, 2010 09:21 AM (VeOKS)

41 So, in a time of high unemployment and people begging to work. the little dear couldn't take it anymore and had a meltdown, flounced off the plane after stealing some brews, possibly endangering other people by using the escape hatch, and fled to the release of having sex with his male partner.....have I got the story right?  And THIS is your hero?  This is the kind of person we want in our military?  As for giving into a temper tantrum and behaving childishly......our culture wants to cultivate THAT?

Posted by: J at August 11, 2010 09:22 AM (T3/qP)

42 Ya know, if a talented moron could do the animation and then a talented moronette could pretend she was speaking Chinese, they could have a thriving business.

Posted by: Moi at August 11, 2010 09:23 AM (Ez4Ql)

43 I wouldn't call him a "hero" but anyone who's ever worked a service job knows what this guy felt like. There's only so much you can take of being treated like shit. I have many friends who worked in restaurants and I'm constantly amazed at the shit they have to put up with. People suck.

J, you must be new here. This guy is living what we like to call the Ace of Spaces Lifestyle.

45 Aw, Angry Beaver, I didn't mean to offend. I had a fine time outside of Taipei, which was just too much ruckus for me. BTW, you're right, I didn't score any, so maybe I'm just bitter, but you'll need to take that up with Mrs. Jakeman.

But c'mon you gotta admit: Fried tofu smells godawful.

Posted by: jakeman at August 11, 2010 10:44 AM (8QmEC)

46

I can think of several examples of flight attendants being shitty and pissy with passengers for no reason.  Maybe someone from the previous flight pissed them off, but that doesn't mean pass it on to everyone else.  That's where the professionalism comes in--or not.

I fucking hate flight attendants.  There isn't a more rude group of self-important, bitchy assholes in the world.

Fuck this dipshit.  I bet he got sassed at because he was being a piece of shit, a total bitch.

Posted by: rdbrewer at August 11, 2010 10:49 AM (Adi4S)

47 No offense taken, jakeman. I'll openly admit there's plenty of unappealing things about Taiwan (air pollution, godawful humidity in the summers, and insane drivers). And I am more than a little biased for sure.  Were you there on business? You are right in one respect - they don't get much in the way of tourist travel. It's a bit out of the way unless you're visiting family.

And yes, stinky tofu does smell awful. It wasn't until my last trip back that I realized that smell wasn't the odor of raw sewage.

49 @Angry Beaver, if you're still monitoring the thread...

I was there for kind of a goofy reason--I was part of a dragon boat team that went over for their International Dragon Boat Festival. (Taipei and Phoenix are Sister Cities, so they invited us.) The event was fun and festive, with teams from all over Asia and some expat Canadians--though the river was kind of gross   We had an incredible meal at City Hall hosted by the mayor and some other VIPs, enjoying some fantastic food on the most enormous lazy susan I've ever seen.

Other than that, spent a lot of time drinking, wandering the city and dodging lunatic mopeds, but the most fun that I had was going to some nearly abandoned amusement park up in the hills that you have to take a tram to get to.  "Lonely Planet" called it the Disneyworld of Taiwan, but I don't think Walt & Co. would have given it the seal of approval!
