— DrewM Jim Geraghty takes a look at Castle's voting record and his stance on ObamaCare repeal.
In short, on some key votes Castle was ok and he's open to repeal of ObamaCare, though he thinks the most likely outcome will involve changing it rather than outright repeal. On the merits he right that it's not going to happen unless/until a Republican President is elected.
That said, there's still no spinning the Cap and Trade vote. On the upside, it's unlikely to come up should the Democrats eke out control of the Senate and definitely won't if Republicans have the majority. Castle may want to kill us on that issue but he simply won't have the chance to do it for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, Christine O'Donnell's camp is touting a poll that shows her within 2 points of Castle That poll however has a margin of error of +/- 5.7%, which in a word is, huge. It was also commissioned by the Tea Party Express, which is supporting O'Donnell.
Rasmussen's also has a Delaware poll out today (3% margin of error) looking at the general election. They shows Castle comfortably in front of the Democrat Coons (Castle +11), while Coons leads O'Donnell in a hypothetical match up (Coons +11).

I have no objections to going with the more conservative candidate in states which are purple or red, like Alaska, Utah, and Nevada, but I question the wisdom of doing it in a deep blue state like Delaware which has shown no interest in a conservative platform.

Now I question the integrity of this website.

Speaking of ObamaCare. I got this in an e-mail today. Sorry about the typeface. I was wondering how Ebola was going to redistribute the wealth of older folks. I knew he wouldn't let 'em get away with it.
REAL ESTATE SALES TAX Under the new health care bill - did you know that all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax? The bulk of these new taxes don't kick in until 2013 (presumably after obamaÂ’s re-election). You can thank Nancy, Harry and Barack and your local Democrat Congressman for this one. If you sell your $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to impact the retiring generation who often downsize their homes. Is this Hope & Change great or what? Does this stuff makes your November and 2012 votes more important?
So, this is "change you can believe in"?

Oh, you weren't aware this was in the obamacare bill? Guess what, you aren't alone. There are more than a few members of Congress that aren't aware of it either (result of clandestine midnight voting for huge bills they've never read). AND, there are a few other surprises lurking.

I'm always amazed when I watch leftoids try to make a similar accusation against Beck - that he raped and killed a woman.

Far be it from me to defend libs, but I think there's some inaccuracies in the teal type. Exclusions based on income, and also the tax based on profit not gross numbers. That's not to say it would surprise me if the teal type were entirely true. But I don't think it is.

Not necessarily. Suppose we get 46 seats with Castle, and he votes with the Dems 50% of the time.
On each one of those votes, the media will trumpet the bipartisan support for the bill and use Castle to hammer us on the vote., especially if he says something nasty, like Christy Todd Whitman or Jim Jeffords used to do.
Is that worth the 50% vote? Probably not.
OTOH, if he is the 51st vote in the Senate for the Republicans, that vote half the time is, to quote Biden, a BFD.
So, the question works out like this, IMO;
How close do we get to 51? If we get between 49 and 52 even serious RINOs become more valuable.
How much can we get him on board the program? He isn't going to vote with us all the time, but how many important votes will he screw us over? Even if we only get 50% of his votes, it matters which 50%.
Can he be polite in disagreeing? Look at Guilani. As he is a moderate, conservatives disagree with him a lot, but he doesn't seem to take the low road and slam conservatives in leftist terms when he differs with them.

Abused prison wives.
The failure to support conservative candidates in the primary because "they can't win" sounds more like LOSERS than those willing to make change.
Castle stinks. Accept it. We have done this dance with Chafee, Spector, and Jeffords.
If Castle wins the primary, then yes, support Castle in the general. But until the primary is over, support O'Donnell.
For those who say O'Donnell can't win, what are you doing for the conservative cause? Are you donating? Are you canvassing? Are you helping? Will you do so after the primary if O'Donnell wins? Or is whining all you good for.

Crap and tax is nothing more than a bill to advance the cause of communism in the U.S. and nationalize the electrical industry.

MILWAUKEE — President Barack Obama, scrambling to spur job creation, proposed a six-year plan on Monday to rebuild infrastructure with an initial $50 billion investment and prepared new business tax cuts.
"We are going to rebuild 150,000 miles of our roads -- that's enough to circle the world six times. ... We're going to lay and maintain 4,000 miles of our railways -- enough to stretch coast-to-coast," Obama told a labor rally in Milwaukee where several thousand supporters cheered his every line.
Just like all that infrastructure they rebuilt last year.
Obama will also announce on Wednesday a proposal for the U.S. Congress to increase and permanently extend a tax credit for business research and development. It would cost $100 billion over 10 years.
Cost? Who will it cost? Reuters with old tax cuts or credits cost money bullshit.

Of course now that a new Rasmussen poll is out showing O'Donnell getting shellacked by Coons, the O'Donnell camp will continue to claim that Rasmussen is spiking her poll numbers to help elect Castle. Yes, her campaign has actually been claiming that. Funny how they touted the Rasmussen poll from early July that showed her beating Coons by 2% but now that Rasmussen shows her getting crushed, she is claiming Rasmussen is the lying spawn of the devil.
It won't be long before O'Donnell starts talking about her own line of action figures, as she is the Republican version of Alvin Greene. The only thing she has going for her is her looks.

What does his one vote on a plurality of issues buy us?
Is it worth possibly losing another close election in the future because Castle trades votes with an at-risk Dem in 2012, allowing that Dem to gain ballots by voting "against" Obama?
Is it worth the ammunition it gives the Left and the Press (I know, I repeat myself) when claiming bipartisan support of such nation-killing things as Cap & Trade?
I just have a hard time getting around that. Yeah, cap & trade is pretty much DOA in this climate, but...
Is it ok to vote for a politician that votes with the Republicans 75% of the time, but admits he would occasionally rape a jogger in the park if only he lived near a park with joggers?
No? What if he votes w/ us 99 % of the time? Your answer better still be No.
The AGW hoax is not dead yet, and even when it is, there will be another hysterical enviro-cause to take its place. McCain & Graham and the current crop of RINOs are bad enough. Do we need to give them any more support from the right?
Seriously - why do we need this seat, given the gains we are going to be making in other battles with strong conservatives?
If we believe in the Conservative way, then the best way to turn this country away from its decades-long slide to Socialism is to let those states that prefer to be slaves to the Government truly enjoy the fruits of their Labor. California is a good example on the verge of complete financial collapse.
I've got a lot of love for the prospect of having clear distinctions between the left & right, so that when failure happens, there leaves little doubt whose policies were to blame.

" All this Mike Castle love around here is getting really disconcerting.
Treading a bit too close to Chucky Johnson territory here, methinks."
No, that quote isn't in the least bit retarded. Given the actions of the Tea Party in this race, and their seeming obliviousness to reason, I am quite frankly of the opinion that their actions in Delaware are meant to be shots across the bows of Lindsey Graham, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. It seems to be a "vote exactly how we want, regardless of who you represent or how liberal your state is or we will try and primary you" threat aimed at moderate Republicans who are not up for reelection until 2012 or 2014. They have to realize that O'Donnnell, particularly after the disastrous week she had last week and the scathing ad campaign being run by the Castle people, has no chance of winning in the general. They want to scare the other moderates in the Senate.
Castle is the only viable candidate in this race. What would the people here rather have: a moderate Republican candidate who votes Republican a majority of the time (56% in 2009), whose victory may propel the Republicans into the majortity, thus allowing us the ability to stop Obama's judicial nominees, or an airhead who is more Alvin Greene than Ronald Reagan?

For instance, suppose we lose this seat this election, but gain the majority in the Senate in 12 with one less Rino.
Good or bad?
Setting the Legislative agenda is kind of pointless when you have guys on your side that can't quite let go of the prospect that the only thing wrong with government spending in the past is that the wrong people had the pursestrings.
Witness: the last Republican majorities.
It's not just the culture of corruption that we need to excise.
It is also the culture of entitlement and spending.
Posted by: krakatoa at September 07, 2010 09:28 AM (a0Jhx)
Jesus fucking Christ, if you are actually arguing against a Senate majority in order to legitimize O'Donnell's primary run, you need to have your fucking head examined. Two words: judicial nominees. If you have to twist yourself into a fucking logical pretzel by asking "why do we need control of the Senate this cycle", you are a fucking dimwit. There is simply no way of predicting how the 2012 elections will turn out. We need to regain the majority to put a brake on the Obama agenda, right fucking now. Unless of course you subscribe to the Beckian "hey let's let the Democrats fuck up really bad so that we can win even more seats in a few years" theory. The only problem with that is that the Dem fuck-ups might end up doing irreversible harm to the United States with Obamacare being the perfect example.
Waves like the one that are forming now don't come for the Republican Party very often. O'Donnell is not going to win. Nobody of her politcal bent can win in Delaware. Deliberately tanking Castle by choosing an unserious candidate accomplishes no short-term or long-term strategic goal. It's DELAWARE FOR FUCK SAKE.

The majority is more important than the individuals who make up that majority.
And let's face it: O'Donnell can't win because she is batshit nuts and can't even balance her own fucking checkbook. Put Castle in, subject him to the whip, and let's get on with it. This is DelaFuckingWare, people.

Along the same lines as Specter. He left for power. By swinging the Senate to the Dems, he expected to wield a big stick. Instead, the Dems jammed it up his ass. Different scenario.

"For instance, suppose we lose this seat this election, but gain the majority in the Senate in 12 with one less Rino."
Again, a stupid question. Arguing it is better to let a Democrat win in Delaware simply because the Republicans MIGHT win the majority in 2012 is just fucking stupid. Here is your argument put another way:
"Hey I want a Democrat who will rubber stamp the Obama agenda to win in Delaware. I want to lose this once in a generation opportunity for a Republican to win in an increasingly blue state. I want Coons to win if Castle is nominated.
That is the argument boiled down to its essence. It quite simply amazes me that so many people have so much invested in a candidate, O'Donnell, who is a complete and total fucking joke. Why would you want a Democrat to win? It is fucking mind-boggling. People are now actually arguing that they would rather have Coons win than Castle.

Have to disagree Herr. We had a majority in 2005 and I tracked the energy bill through the Senate that year because it had some important stuff in it for my industry.
I watched as the RINOs like McCain and his butt boy from my own State destroyed the bill by crossing over to side with the Dems. The same damn thing happened with the "Bush Taxcuts". The reason they were not made permanent to begin with were the fucking RINOs.
We blame Bush for a lot of RINO/liberal actions and it is true that he is guilty of some of them. But, the overall blame goes to the RINOs who stabbed him in the back time after time. They gave up the "majority" by siding with the Dems. BHush couldn't even get enough of the fucking RINOs on board to get a vote on repealing that damn alternative minimum tax. The one that the 1994 majority voted to repeal and Clinton vetoed.
We had a chance during the 6 years Bush had a so-called majority and blew it. The fact is when you abandon principle you tarnish your brand name and the voters remember it.

Fact is, I don't really have a horse in the race. Sounds like it's between a RINO & an idiot.
I can appreciate that you seem really worked up about supporting the dedicated RINO to hopefully take a majority in the Senate.
I hope you can appreciate that I'm not interested in insults in lieu of discourse.
I am simply pointing out that a Majority in the Senate didn't do us a world of good with the last batch of big-spending squishy Republicans. Witness: Gang of 14; Social Security fail; failure to make the tax cuts permanent; etc. etc. etc...
What makes you think creating a majority with more big-spending squishes would be different this time?
Thus my point about possibly losing a future election between a solid fiscal conservative and a Dem who is given critical assistance in a vote-swap or three with Castle.
Hypothetical? Like that's never happened before?
I'm just trying to give food for thought. Principles do matter, when the votes are being massaged on the floor.

Oh wait, that isn't what happens at all. We run squishes who are barely distinguishable from Democrats and then they still get trounced at the polls. The ones that win just blend in with the Dems and pull all the same crooked stuff.
Maybe we should switch things up and try putting some conservative candidates out there? Naah, what we're doing is working so well, we should just keep on doing it.
Scott Brown is a squish, but here's a shocker: he's the most conservative candidate we've had in MA in a long time.

Delaware is a weird little state. Up north in Wilmington it's uber-liberal, metropolitan, and upscale. In parts of southern Delaware you'd think you were in Mississippi, with the sharecroppers
It's even weirder, because a lot of the more Republican types who work in Wilmington live over in Pennsylvania.
There's also a sizeable urban underclass in Wilmington that isn't aware of any party other than Democrat.

I'm not going so far as to judge the pundits. I'm just startled to find that when I look at that ad, I find myself growing resentful, not cheering on Castle. And that is our problem. We need Delaware Republicans agreeing that Castle is the electable one and that Delaware can play a pivotal role in this election.
Instead, if my reaction is any guide, the exact opposite reaction is being invoked. The fact that this is a small state, and many people have actually met the officeholders and candidates here may be part of it.

Would you rather have one single Democrat seat stay Democrat...or have Mike Castle as Majority Leader? Because that is what you will basically have if he wins. He'll have blackmail power over the GOP leadership, which is looking for an excuse to go left anyway.
Also, Stephen Bainbridge says Christine O'Donnell shouldn't be elected because she's one of the 75% of Americans who oppose gun control. (Castle, for those of you who didn't know, is an anti-gun leader). Castle really should tell his supporters to shut up, since they're hurting his own cause, but he won't.
Another thing: in 2014, would you rather have a Senate with Chambliss (R-GA), Parnell (R-AK), Pawlenty (R-MN), and Coons (D-DE)? Or one with Barnes (D-GA), Begich (D-AK), Al Franken (D-MN) and Castle (CIABLO-DE)? Make no mistake about it, that is how it will shake out; if Castle is a Senator, the NRSC will drain funds from conservative or even moderate candidates to make sure the CIABLO stays in. It happened with Jeffords in 2000--ask Rod Grams, conservative Republican from MN about that--and it happened in 2006, when Elizabeth Dole's NRSC actually registered Democrats to vote for Lincoln Chafee in the primary.
Finally: do you really think that Stephen Bainbridge and the others who support Castle--allegedly because it is so fucking important to keep Coons out--will support O'Donnell over Coons if she wins? Since it's clear they prefer Coons to O'Donnell, it isn't really that over the top for me to say that I prefer Coons over Castle.

Another DE disadvantage: from time to time the PA state police lurk outside DE liquor stores waiting to bust PA liquor buyers. One lady got a $400 ticket for buying a bottle of wine. One (1) bottle of vino.

Yup, that's the vermin. She was Tom Carper's secretary at the time. And there was supposedly a very difficult time discerning what, or whom T.C. stood for in her diary. Not pretty.
I doubt that Castle would switch parties. I also doubt that his rating will ever again break 50%. There is a good chance that he won't run again in four years.

Further, I'd like to think that one of the first GOP targets after November would be the EPA's CO2-endangerment finding.
If you toss Castle in the primary you toss the seat to the Democrats. Simple as that. Maybe that's worth doing on principle, maybe it's not.
I wish there were a more viable contender here, but at this point O'Donnell has to go in the Alexi Giannoulias/Alvin Greene 'what are they doing here?' bucket.

Support Castle in the general and drop O'Donnell if she goes third party.
Point is, we are not past the primary yet. I do not concede "she can't win". Even if she lost, at least she would educate the voters regarding conservatism and set the table for the next candidate.

Her candidacy is 'troubled', has a clear ten point deficit, and if she is the candidate, this would be an ideal seat for Dems to include in their firewall. And you can count on VP Biteme providing campaign assistance, all on our dime.

Posted by: DrewM. at September 07, 2010 10:41 AM (ycZcD)
On top of that, the previously magenta-ish Kent and Sussex Counties have been getting increasingly bluer due to the large influx of New Jersey and Philly-area Pennsylvania residents moving to the state and bringing their voting habits with them. Delaware has been going steadily from blue-ish purple to navy blue for years. I've noticed the change in Kent County over the past five years, and it seems like things have been getting increasingly more liberal in Kent County (where I currently live). I'd like for Colin Bonini, my state senator and, as far as I can tell, one of the few fiscal hawks in the state legislature, to win Treasurer (the only state-wide seat up for election this year), but I doubt he'll win thanks to liberal New Castle County and the influx of Democratic voters into the southern two counties.
In short, if O'Donnell wins the primary, there's no chance in Hell she'll win. I like her positions, but the image that she's teh krazee, true or not, will be crippling for her in the general, and as far as I've seen, aside from Reagan in '84, Delaware only goes for squish Republicans, not actual conservatives. Regardless of who I vote for in the primary and regardless of who wins (and I'm still not sure), I'll still probably feel like eating a bullet afterwards.
Also, (and Blue Hen can correct me on this, too) what's up with the very conservative candidates in Delaware (I'm thinking of O'Donnell and Mike Protack) thinking they can bypass getting elected on the local level and automatically going for Governor or Senate? What's wrong with building a reputation and credibility with the (frankly head-trauma-stupid) state level Republican Party? I may have answered my own question, but not in a way that I like.
(It's bullshit like this that makes me want to move someplace like South Carolina, and with things like the Nikki Haley/Will Folks episode, that's saying something, though I'm not sure what.)

Lieberman will not run as a Republican except as a ballot line since, as an Indy, he doesn't really have one and the Dems may try to get a better candidate in to challenge him. But the nutroots don't hate him as much as they did (especially with a tight Senate) and he'll get on the D line if he can.
I think Ben Nelson is delusional. He really had no idea how his ObamaCare vote would go over in Nebraska. He thought his changepurse of pork would get him enough good will.

She may not be lying, however the imagination may be a little "active."
Isn't anyone troubled by her financial disclosure where she only claims $5800.00 earned income per annum? How does she support herself on that amount? When pressed, she said she makes more but doesn't have to reveal that information. Which conservative principle is it that allows candidates to hide income from taxpayers who will be paying their salary? Also, I was under the impression that conservatives like to hire legislators who have some solid real life experience under their belt. You know, running a business, or working somewhere for an extended period of time. Being a military guy/gal, or a professional sports figure a la Steve Largent or Jim Bunning. I didn't insinuate. I stated that one or more of the blogs-HotAir, RedState, or Ace, might have been paid (and the others followed) because they all at the same time came out with different rationales for trashing O'Donnell. It appeared that the Castle operation team released different dirty laundry to the various blogs, who unloaded on O'Donnell.
It was extremely puzzling due to the support of all the blogs of Bennett in Utah and Miller in AK. It was like-what is up with this?
Ace has a great cite and let's everyone fill it with absurdities and paranoid thoughts. Since you left my posts, obviously it appears no one was paid here (although my opinion means beans-now and before).

The fact that Castle shows no interest in clearing himself of the charges indicates either that they are true, or else that he is so calloused that it doesn't bother him as long as it benefits him.
Personally, if I were running against O'Donnell and someone were threatening her, I would feel like a eunuch if I didn't help her find the culprit. A man should not tolerate the abuse of a woman, even if she is his political opponent.

"Damn that Christine O'Donnell for not being a war hero or a professional athlete!!! Especially in an age of easy sex changes."
That's nice, but you haven't addressed her reluctance to reveal the source of her income. If she is chosen in the primary, won't she have to make her federal tax returns public?

I seem to remember people going ape shit crazy when the Repubs went all in for a particular candidate in the AK primary, but it's okay when we find out they're doing the same thing in DE. Personally, we need a Republican to win this primary, but the State GOP needs to quit trying to crucify a fellow Republican. And DC Repubs need to stay the hell out, too. But, that's not happening. They are advising Castle to go dirty early & often. They, along with the state GOP, are putting out all the negative info on O'Donnell, and I think it's disgusting.
If Castle can't win on his own bonafides, wtf good is he? You want to know what's actually happening? The more bloggers, state GOP, and DC GOP pull this dirty BS to trash a fellow Republican, the more you're pissing people off. If anyone thinks that's going to get the outcomes you want, then you're effin stupid. What you're doing is pushing people to stand up for O'Donnel, and pushing votes her way.
It's an effin primary. It needs to play out with DE voters. The Republican establishment needs to butt the hell out. All they're proving is that their promises to stay out of primaries is not worth crap. I guess their promises still don't mean shit.

It worked for VP Biteme.I don't believe that he ever practiced law here. And he won the Senate in 1972. He was in the New Castle County Council for about one year prior to that. It can happen here.

There is nothing to support O'Donnell being "great." There isn't even anything to support her being good. At this point all the evidence points to her being incompetent and a bit of a flake. But she's the most conservative candidate in the primary so we're supposed to want her to be one of our leaders?
She's dumb, she's shady, and she can't win. But other than that, she deserves our full support.

That would not help at all. Perhaps if we split the State along the lines of Interstate 5. West of the interstate would be one State, East would be another. But the best that would get us is a draw.

I am very glad to say that this isn't how our legal system works. if she has evidence, especially as to the source of the harrassment, then she should present it. Castle should not have to prove that he did not do it.
The fact that she hasn't reported anything indicates that either this is a fabrication, or she's seeing weird, intermittant things that won't add up to anything, or at worse make her look bad. Also note that protection from abuse orders in this state are belatedly given, acted upon, and the people and those around them often wind up dead(ex: Shooting near Red Lion, DE several years ago).

I guess that I should read the comments more often instead of writing about them!!
It was just odd that all three blogs came out with hit pieces (on different subject matter/angles) at the same time. It appeared some collusion was going on (which is different from money changing hands).

Ex. Freakin'. Zactly.
A week ago, I was more inclined to settle for Castle. It wasn't until I saw Professor Bainbridge's hate screed against O'Donnell (that included a sideswipe at gun owners, which really pissed me off) that I firmly decided for O'Donnell. OK, I don't live in DE, but many GOP primary voters there have clearly seen the same things I have.
Can you say "Senator Coons"? Because, thanks to the anti-O'Donnell hate, that seems increasingly likely, no matter who wins the primary.
Posted by: Ken at September 07, 2010 11:10 AM (ftfkn)
O'Donnell doesn't seem like a serious candidate.
I'm all for the Tea Party candidates, but it appears she's a loon.
More to the point, an unelectable loon.
Castle's a purple candidate in a blue state. We got Miller, Rand, and Angle. Let's not overreach.

I beg to differ. Look again at all the reasons people are saying the we should vote for Castle. he leads Coons by 12 at present. If Dems put money and VP Biteme behind Coons, and O'Donnell strips away some Rs and Is, then this becomes a horserace instead of a lock. We are continually hearing how blue a state this is. A unified Dem party versus a R party at war with itself? WHich way would Castle run? To the right? Or to the left, in keeping with Delaware, but confirming all the complaints from the Rs.
That is, if she doesn't self-destruct. She has to know that daring to run against Castle makes this her last race as a Republican here. They destroyed Janet Reznicki for less. She could ruin things, or make them far tighter. But doind so would be wrong.

Similarly, if Congress fails to appropriate tax funds to provide the budgets necessary for the new ObamaCare bureaucracy, it wouldn't get started even should Obama remain in office the duration of his term.
Halt the taxes now that are set to go into immediate effect, years before service is set in action.

O'Donnell: Hot Nut or Steely Conservative?
Posted by: toby928 scoffer at September 07, 2010 11:24 AM (evdj2)
Yes, that is the burning question of the day for sure.
Isn't this a little like asking if it's better to get shot with a .38 or a .357?
Parsing Castle's voting record made sense when he looked like a lock. He doesn't any more. He's below 50% against Coons and he's a liberal and an incumbent running in a year that is going to be very bad for both. Coons can run as an outsider and to the right of Castle on some issues. At best Castle vs. Coons is a tossup at this point.

Yes, Castle 48% - Coons 37%. 48 is below 50 the last time I checked. That is the second consecutive poll that has Castle below 50%. I wasn't suggesting Coons got 50% or was leading.
Posted by: Rocks at September 07, 2010 11:38 AM (ivAmM)
You are forgetting Ben Nelson. Who will be voting R half the time no matter who is controlling Congress along with every other Dem in a vulnerable seat for 2012.
Posted by: Rocks at September 07, 2010 11:57 AM (ivAmM)
They're certainly wrong in places like AK and UT. They may be right in NV. They're certainly correct in DE.
If control of the Senate were impossible or a lock then I would support the conservative against the RINO. But that's not the situation we're in. If we have control of both houses we gain the ability to dictate the agenda. Control of the Senate means that Obama no longer has a rubber-stamp in appointments. All of this is far more important that ideological purity.

In Nassau county New York one of my friends, a registered republican, voted for Tom Suozzi because 1. he knew him from HS 2, He was a decent mayor of his little long island town 3. He had renovated the country seat and taken back the deserted buildings and gotten rid of expensive leases to rent county office space 4. My friend was tired of voting republican and always having the losing candidate.... My friend knew that suozzi planned to raise property taxes, implement an energy tax, the first ever and install cameras at almost every intersection. My friend, still voted for him knowing all of this and because his opponent Mangano had very little mailing and few commercials and he really knew very little about the republican. So, despite the fact that he was registered as a republican, he voted for the dem.
The republican won by a very teeny tiny margin and my friend was guilty and sorry for his vote.
The moral of the story is that you should vote for the person you believe will best serve your and your neighbors' interests and will serve the people and not worry about serving themselves, ignoring the people and getting rich themselves.
Suozzi was last seen in church, his body language definitely asking "is my political career over? (after all, before this loss they were talking about him for governor)
This is all second hand from my friend but he has told me the story three times cause it bothers him that much.
This may be a time in our country's history where it is more important to vote what your gut is telling you and not over analyze.

Getting the repub majority to stop the nutjob in the WH is more important.
There are fed. judges at stakes.
And this woman is no Karen Handel or Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin. I heard her on Hannity's show today, she is a light weight who will be defeated by huge margins.
Get the most conservative repub that can be elected. And that would be Mike Castle.

If the republicans keep voting for people who don't' really represent republican interests, before you know it, they will end up with a very powerful RINO Senate.

There were intimations made on several talk radio programs today that perhaps the republican establishment had sweetened the deal with some of the conservative blogs to make the conservative bloggers come over to their side of the ol fence. Now, of course we know they weren't talking about this blog at all but I bet you guys who read all the conservative blogs would know which ones were being mentioned. Down with Castle! We must stop Obama's socialist agenda by letting the Dems destory our economy and security for another few years! Sure the country could be irreparably damaged, but that's actually a good thing, because everyone will know it was their fault!
Besides, we're all big-picture people here, right? Who cares about jobs and shit while we still have real problems to deal with, like the Department of Education?
Posted by: True Conservative Hero at September 07, 2010 08:48 PM (DsHk0)
If voters fill up the Senate with republicans that look like lib/dem plants then eventually that will hurt the country too.
Americans have plenty of RINO's to point to....among them McShame and Lind say. You don't need to encourage them anymore. Let people use their brains, their hearts and their gut feelings and it might actually surprise you.
People are going to start vetting republicans by how conservative they are, watch and see.

Via Riehl on Castle:
"He is a forty year career politician who happens to call himself a Republican, as once did Charlie Crist, Arlen Specter and Jim Jeffords. Mr. Castle is a habitual tax raiser. He is unwaveringly pro abortion and he has earned an F- rating from The NRA. He voted for TARP, Porkulus, the auto and banking industry takeovers, Cash for Clunkers as well as Cap and Trade. Most recently, he co-sponsored the disclose act which is nothing more than an assault on the first amendment designed to muzzle his political opposition."
Morons is an over-the-top euphemism for your imbecility, Gabe, Drew and not least Ace.
