— DrewM The Libertarian path seems to be a dead end but it looks like she's not giving up yet.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski is strongly considering a mounting a November write-in campaign to keep her seat and could make an announcement as soon as tomorrow, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.Running as a write-in candidate appears to be Murkowski’s last remaining option. The Senate Republican Conference Vice Chairwoman met with Libertarian Party nominee David Haase on Tuesday to discuss taking his spot on the ballot, but according to a party spokesman, even if Haase dropped out, the party’s executive board — which last week voted against allowing Murkowski on the ballot — does not appear amenable to changing its decision.
Should Murkowski pull the trigger on a write-in campaign, GOP sources say she would face opposition from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The NRSC endorsed Joe Miller immediately after Murkowski conceded the primary, and the GOP committee intends to stick with the Fairbanks attorney and provide him with the full weight of its backing.
She keeps saying she's not a quitter but that's not the issue. You lost idiot. It's not quitting if you go home once the game is over.
Looks like Joe Miller is going to need some help.
Somehow the write in campaign is even more offensive than a switch to a 3rd party. As far as I can find, only Strom Thurmond ever actually won a write in campaign for the Senate.
This is just a woman who is terribly afraid of losing a title she thinks she is entitled to by birth. We really need to flush out the people in office who are so insane to think the republic will fall without their presence on the payroll.

Murkowski told the Fairbanks Daily-News Miner on Tuesday that all options remained on the table.
“I’m no quitter,” she said. “I’m weighing all my options and seeing what’s available.”
I don't think being a "quitter" and losing a primary election mean the same thing. Someone may want to share that with the Senator ASAP.

"Not a quitter". Ummm... one of the premises of a Democracy is that when you get voted out, you are forced to quit. Otherwise, it isn't a Democracy. Your job, or lack thereof, is completely at the whim of the people you represent.

There are three Republicans vying for the nomination. The so-called conventional wisdom here is that the Dems have a lock on gaining it. They are running a jerk named John Carney, who was Lt. Governor when Ruthann 'no-neck Minner was Governor. The state party seems to be favoring Michele Rollins. I suspect that this is because she can self-finance (she's the siwod of a local real estate developer). Thus, there will be someone on the ballot, and the party doesn't have to break a sweat. There's been an insidious practice here of not seriously contesting the other party's main candidates.

Lisa Murkowski, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Robert Bennett, Chris Cannon, Steve Mascaro (a member of the state house here in Utah): all of whom were dubbed RINOs by their opponents; all of whom were vigorously defended by the Left, the mainstream media, and the GOP establishment as the sort of loyal, thoughtful Republicans the GOP needs; all of whom displayed poor sportsmanship when losing or threatened with losing a party primary - by switching sides, going independent, threatening to run as write-ins, wavering in their endorsement of the party’s nominee, or – in Mascaro’s case – actually endorsing the Democratic Party’s nominee.
Every single one of them was happy to play on party loyalties for years, when it benefitted themselves. Every single one of them would have expected to receive their primary opponent’s endorsement had they won – which they would have received in every case, without hesitation.
Just once IÂ’d like to see the ousted Republican play good sportsman. It might cause me to think I was wrong about them. Instead their behavior just proves the RINO label was accurate.

Reid: Not My Fault
"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, facing a tough re-election bid in one of the states hardest hit by the recession, said today that the economic downturn was not his fault.
"I had nothing to do with the massive foreclosures here," Reid said.
Reid contended in today's interview that "it would take a real stretch" in order to think that he caused the country's economic problems. Instead, Reid argued, he worked against many of the policies enacted during the administration of George W. Bush that were to blame for the economic crisis."

When you consider what's happenning in Colorado now, (winner of the primary is being cajoled to step aside so as to let another take his place and hopefully convince a third person to drop an independent bid) I'm starting to wonder if she isn't still thinking that the NRSC is going to come and rescue her. According to the quotes, they won't. But then, we just heard that Barbour is cutting Meas off.

Speaking of someone who won't go away:
HAVANA - Fidel Castro told a visiting American journalist that Cuba's communist economic model doesn't work, a rare comment on domestic affairs from a man who has conspicuously steered clear of local issues since stepping down four years ago.
Jeffrey Goldberg, a national correspondent for The Atlantic magazine, asked if Cuba's economic system was still worth exporting to other countries, and Castro replied: "The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore" Goldberg wrote Wednesday in a post on his Atlantic blog.
This will be devastating news for Barry, his administration, most universities, a lot of Hollywood douchebags and a lot of the western press. Oliver Stone is probably wondering who got to the Fidel and the big conspiracy behind this.

I've heard that there are only 3 possible pick-ups for the Dems and they are all likely pick-ups: Djou, Cao and Castle's seat.
It's been a while since I was in Newark, DE but if I remember, Delaware (at least where the population is concentrated in the Philly suburb of New Castle County) has no TV stations, one news radio station and a newspaper nobody reads.
Essentially, Delaware politics is buried in the evening newscasts among the human interest stories.
So, it's really hard to break into Delaware politics because ads are prohibitively expensive in the Philly market for such a small state. Hence, it's all name recognition.
I also think it's a perfect example of media bias. It's one of the fiscally smartest states in the union and has worked very hard on taxes and regulations to get business in the state. Yet Democrats continue to get elected. Essentially, they get the free media and Republicans can't buy rebuttals. At least, that's my opinion.

She actually came out and said that one of the reasons she was considering this stupid fight she's causing, now, was because she didn't think either of the primary winners had the right vision for Alaska, and she was worried about her state & her children's future in the state. The only thing this witch is worried about is herself, and she's pissed off that Sarah had something to do with her loss. I've never heard one way or the other. I mean, I have a pretty good feeling that, say, Kurt Warner could be recruited as a Republican if he were interested in politics, but I have no sense of Gannon. You do have to remember that UD football isn't something people pay a ton of attention to and he wouldn't be a hero the way Tom Osborne is in Nebraska. He'd be a celebrity from Delaware and that would be a way to get free media.
The advantage to Delaware is that you don't have to be telegenic. Any celebrity with name recognition and a good staff is enough to make you competitive there.

He also had a couple good years with the Chiefs before they stupidly let him go to the Raiders, where he really kicked ass.

there has to be something in the water in the Senate lunchroom.
Judging from Specter and Murkowski, I'm thinking heroin, or something equally addictive.
Come to think about it, she does kind of look like a junkie...

It's in the navy bean soup. Everyone knows that. The Viet Cong couldn't turn John McCain against his principles with physical torture, but that Senate navy bean soup had him going "Maverick" right quick.

I would much rather we lost a worthless RINO like Castle in Delaware than somebody like Miller in AK.
Ace and Allahpundit had me convinced she was a disaster and had no chance to win. They're probably right.
But, you know what? Fuck Mike Castle with a red hot poker. If establishment RINO scum like Charlie OompaLoompa and Senator Veruca Salt are going to pull this spoiler shit, Castle will probably switch parties about two seconds after he takes his hand off the Bible. Why the hell should we have any faith in any of these fuckers?
We couldn't primary Arlen Specter in '04, because OH MY FUCKIN GOD HE MIGHT SWITCH PARTIES/ WE CAN'T RISK LOSING THIS SEAT!!11!!!111!!! Well we didn't primary that worthless sack of shit, and he switched parties and we lost the seat anyway.
Remember all the handwringing about how the Tea Party was going to go third party and spoil an election whenever things didn't go their way? None of them have. They either endorse the winner of the primary or fade away quietly. But the establishment RINO scum who were worried about it at the time now seem to have no reservations whatsoever about doing it themselves when things don't go their way.
So fuck it. I don't give a fuck if we lose the Delaware seat. I'm sending money to O'Donnell. And if she beats Castle, these establishment RINO cocksuckers only have themselves to thank.

#156 I still don't like him.He showed his true colors when it came time for voting on the Democrats bills.Im sure he was looking for some of that stimulus money to come his way.Since they refuse to address the states budget on their own such as tackling the state worker unions. And cutting social programs. He just proved to me that he will sell the people of Delaware down the river to save his political career.

Remember who Veruca Salt has for a campaign manager. Palin fired him for gross incompetence. He showed up to work with his shirt buttoned one button off, with one end of his shirt hanging out of his open fly, and he was more interested in playing games on his Blackberry than working.

I dunno. When I went there, there were more small shops, and a cool old theater (the State) which Newark muscled out to placate a developer who would be the answer to their prayers (Bob Teeven). He wound up going to jail on Federal charges of defrauding the government. Some of the newer shops are nice.
The Trabant center was built on the 'blue' parking lot I used to use and the old Daugherty center, which was a converted church. They bulldozed the church and left the facade; ugly.
