Is This Something? Mash-Up: AC/DC vs. Ghostbusters
— Ace

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" + "Ghostbusters" = "Thunder Busters."

I like it, but it mainly just makes me want to listen to Thunderstruck.

"Thunderstruck" is now used in 10% of all movie trailers, and it is my belief they need to get this up to 25%.

Thanks to RDBrewer's twitter feed.

2 That is a very well done mash-up. I never would have guessed it would sync that well, and still wind up sounding recognizably a lot like ... either one.

8 I guess that's a thing.

Say, speaking of mash-ups, how about this mash-up of modern Italy and 15th-century Pakistan? Not as much a feel-good experience as the other, though.

Pakistani woman killed in Italy over arranged marriage

A Pakistani woman has died in Italy after her husband beat her with a brick for opposing the arranged marriage of her daughter, triggering a wave of outrage among Italian politicians on Monday.

The daughter, 20-year-old Nosheen Butt, was admitted to hospital with a cranial traumatism and a broken arm after her 19-year-old brother beat her with a stick in the courtyard of their building in Novi, near the north Italy city of Modena.

According to Modena prosecutors' initial findings, the father Ahmad Khan Butt, a 53-year-old construction worker, threw his wife to the ground and beat her with a brick while the brother Umair attacked his sister.

"The victim did not want her daughter to have an unhappy relationship like the one that had been forced on her," said deputy Modena prosecutor Lucia Musti, who is in charge of the investigation.

"The mother and the daughter were on the same side and this could be called a 'cultural' homicide because in addition to domestic violence there is the issue of the traditions that may have motivated the crime," Ms Musti said.

18 Ray Parker ripped off "Soul Finger" by the Bar-Kays for that Ghostbusters riff anyway. Actually, it's modern day folklore that he ripped of "I want a new drug" by Huey Lewis & the News, which is the song the movie's creators originally wanted in the first place.

56 I know the people here are worried over a potential tightening in the generic ballot. You should check out the polls just released at Gallup. For the RV poll, the Republicans open up a 3% point lead in the generic ballot. But that is not the good news. In the Likely Voter polls, the Republicans have either a 13% lead or an 18% lead, depending on turnout. No, those numbers are not a typo. Gallup just released the numbers.

This happens a lot with pro golfers (and amateur). Your swing is so far off that your right hand comes off the club not long after impact. And being that he hit a photographer, this was obviously a very errant shot.

I tried looking for either a video of this particular shot or even another bad shot of Tiger's where this happens on youtube, but there is nothing to be found. Anyone know where to find video of this shot?

The appalling honor killings outside of Arabia, as if those inside weren't horrible enough, must end. They wouldn't occur with such ease if at least the Muslim women made their personal allies outside of their religious circle.

Btw, the phrase "Muslims as 15th century throwbacks" is nearly a millennium off, far too generous a contrast, since Muhammad's influence began with his 6th century life (b.570, Mecca) and 7th century Muslim conquests (military success being due to a Persian convert, Salman the Persian). By the time Muhammad died in 632, the Arabian Peninsula had already converted as he had successfully united all of the Arabian tribes into a single religious polity, and absolutely butchered any of any tribe or race that defied his mandate to convert.

AC/DC has earned their phenomenal success based upon two things: an uncanny ability to craft ingenious riffs that are deceptively simple, and an unparalleled pure guitar sound that has not been duplicated.

Both are the work of Malcolm Young. For my money, this is best exemplified by the first 30 seconds of this, played very loud.

Angus is great, but Malcolm is the guts of that band.
