It's A Boy! (tmi3rd)
— Open Blogger

Hi, Morons- many of you kept me company in the wee hours of the morning a couple of nights ago as Mrs. Tmi3rd was in labor. I'm proud to announce that tmi4th was born on April 10 at 5:04 CDT, and Mommy and Little Guy are doing quite well. At birth, he was 9 pounds 10 ounces (the sonograms were estimating 10 pounds 11 ounces) and 21 3/4 inches long (insert obvious length jokes here- Daddy's pretty proud of his little man). Attempted pics below the fold, as well as a somewhat extended thank-you note to the Morons... I first discovered this site back in 2004 sitting at a news desk in Lake Charles, LA, right before I got married. In addition to finding a voice I agreed with, the site made me laugh, and I developed a set of online contacts that slowly turned into an e-mail exchange. I was struck by how smart and funny these people were- Ace's incredible snark-fu, DrewM's wittiness, Purple Avenger's take on things, a strange humpback named LauraW, and a central Texan named Dave, among countless others... and a few years later, a bunch of us got together in Manhattan for what was the first Moron Meetup. Occasional poster "someone" remarked that it took a guy living in Texas to get a bunch of New Yorkers together.

It was wonderful.

A broad group of men and women got together from all over the region and country with one thing in common: the pursuit of liberty. We didn't all agree on everything, we all had different ideas about how things should happen in the world, but amidst the AoSHQ belief in Val-U-Rite vodka, Thai tranny hooker porn, and hobo hunting, I saw America in a way I never had before.

Fast forward to two nights ago, and a nervous dad-to-be couldn't do much but sit in the room with his wife in labor. There were no real worries- I work at this hospital and know the drill, but one is still nervous for the birth of one's first child.

A bunch of Morons in the overnight thread, from all over the country, held my hand and helped keep me calm. Reading your replies to my wife made her laugh, made us laugh, and reminded me very much that the term "Moron Nation" means something.

We are drawn here by our love of life, laughter, and principles of conservative liberty, and somehow it translates into friendship and fellowship in real life. I've had the honor of meeting many of you in real life and am awed by you... you're as wonderful folks in person as you are online.

So here's my tribute to you, Morons... I have faith in raising my child here- in the United States of America- because of you, the people who remind me that I'm not alone in this. Be it politics, be it childbirth, be it hobo hunting... it seems that the Moron Nation is there when I need it to be. Thank you all for everything.

Ladies and gentlemen of the Moron Nation, I present to you tmi4th- the newest member of the Moron Nation and a little guy who will benefit from the wisdom and love that he's encountered from all of you.

2 Congratulations. Welcome to the world of endless diapers (poo can come in that color?), 2 a.m. feedings, projectile vomiting, and never-ending concern. And to the best time of your life. Make sure you take a lot of pictures and notes because that'll prevent you from forgetting to remember.

3 Congratulations!!!

The flag colors in the second pic are very nice, but you'd better graduate him to urban camo soon so he won't miss out on any 'bo scores.

Oh, and it might be a good idea to put "Return of the Jedi" on repeat on the video player in the nursery so he won't freak out meeting Ace.

We'll be expecting a lot out of tmi4th as the years go by. Mostly crap and drool for a while there, but different things later.

5 My wife just had my first 4 months ago (about the same size and weight, too), and he's awesome. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. It looks like this is your first, so I'm not sure if you are aware: you won't get sleep for another 60-90 days, but you probably won't mind. He looks great.

10 And to the rest of the moron nation -- remember, this little lump is going to be the EMT that saves your ass when you flatline on your front porch after breaking your hip falling over the doormat. If you don't think he looks competent for that now, you'd best be thinking of how he might get that way. Soon. Way too soon.

My baby turned 5 today (or yesterday, the 11th, depending on your time zone).

Anyway, all I can tell ya is the time flies by so quickly, treasure every moment.

The best part of the adventure is rediscovering the wonder and awesomeness of the world around you through their eyes.

Congrats, again! (And the pics are awesome)

30 Congrats to the new father and mother!

Someone on that ONT a few nights back mentioned Bill Cosby "Himself".  I actually had that playing on the boombox in the delivery room for child #2.  She was a start to finish labor of 45 minutes (induced).  Would have been quicker but I had to wait on the doctor to come back to the hospital (he had gone to his office next building over) and the nurses were trying to push her in so they wouldn't be Johnny Bench.  Bitches...

And that's just after they informed me that I was too far along for ANY drugs at all.  F'n Bitches...

Kinda made the whole listening to Cosby kinda funny... except for the whole natural childbirth part.

And the car seat on the dryer was our best babysitter. Secure the car seat on top of the dryer, and the warmth and the movement do the rest. You have 45 minutes to clean house, drink a cup of coffee, rest, etc. Well done!!!

Congratulations, tmi3rd! Truly a miracle. My guy is a full fledge teenager now and still the light of my life.

And hear, hear on the moron tribute. I've been here since just prior to the Obama election, thanks to a posting by Vic recommending the site. I follow daily (too much, really) and post from time to time. I'm not part of the overnite thread gang or one of the prodigious commenters, but I thought Saturday night about AoSHQ.

I had dinner with some good friends, one of whom is a true pretty hard core lefty. As the conversation disintegrated after he had a few too many drinks into what included a series of left wing rants, I couldn't help but think of the community here, and it occurred to me how I'd rather have been sitting around with some morons/moronettes I've never met than being with a friend of over 20 years.

This is kind of an amzing place.

79 Welcome to the world of endless diapers (poo can come in that color?)

After your first you learn poo can come in any color I'm afraid, nuclear green being the worst (don't ask).  And there is a very good reason why the good Lord made babies so darn cute, it's a natural defense mechanism.  If they were just a little less cute they probably wouldn't survive, their parents would get fed up and kill them.

Oh wait... that might be inciting violence.  Damn.. sorry, didn't mean to go all racist homophobe on you folks there.

But with all that, they're amazing and will steal your heart.  I'm not violent, but I'd find a way to wreak everlasting hell on anyone who hurt my little ones.  And putting them to bed (1 year old barbarian lad and 9 year old Gentile Princess) that never disappoints.

Everytime you run into trouble, more exercise then food. Sports are key--early. You can find little sports things as early as age 3. Then they have experience and aren't ever nervous because they know more than everyone else. Don't wait till they are 8+ then they know enough to be nervous and have performance anxiety. The benefits outweigh the trouble and expense. They sleep better, eat better, have something to do so they aren't getting into trouble, grasp practice, hard work and competition. Most atheletes aren't glued to some stupid headbanger music shit or WoW and they are more popular. It also expels the boy energy so that they can sit down and study. That said, don't get too wrapped up in it because none of it matters till high school and probably not then. It's a tool not and end.

Your wife will understand men better too as soon as she sees the soul of her boy. Pure, strong, loving, hungry.

He's gonna be big. My 9+ pound baby is in the 100th % height and 85% weight. Makes you scared for the tiny ones.

It is so amazing to watch them grow from totally helpless infants to curious toddlers to completely infuriating pre-schoolers. I can already see the man inside that my little guy will become. God help us once high school rolls around... and I wouldn't want it any other way.

My biggest was 8 1/2 pounds and I was hurting for a while after (but I'm a smallish woman). Anyway, congratulations! You now know - or will soon learn - exactly how much capacity you have for love. I was floored by it when it hit me. In a couple of months, you'll hardly remember life before your son came along. It simply won't matter. Fun party trick if your wife's breastfeeding: get her to drink a grape soda. Watch the kid's diaper a few hours later. I won't spoil the surprise.

162 Reminds me of the story of two Middle East mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat's milk. The older of the two pulls a bag out of her purse and starts flipping through photos. They start reminiscing.

This is my oldest son, Mujibar. He would have been 24years old now. Yes, I remember him as a baby, says the other mother cheerfully. He's a martyr now though,' the mother confides. Oh, so sad dear, says the other.

And this is my second son, Khalid. He would have been 21 Oh, I remember him, says the other happily, he had such curly hair when he was born. He's a martyr too, says the mother quietly. Oh, dear Allah, says the other.

And this is my third son, my baby, my beautiful Ahmed. He would have been 18, she whispers. Yes, says the friend enthusiastically, I remember when he first started school. He's a martyr also, says the mother, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and, searching for the right words, saysÂ…
They blow up so fast, don't they?

186 Guys, you are the very best. I thought I was touched before, but it's very obvious to me we're going to have to get a screenshot of this post, frame it, and put it up somewhere safe... he can read it in a few years when he has any idea what's being said.

As a quick update- we're moving to Kansas City from Fort Worth in about a month. Mrs. Tmi3rd got hired by the National Weather Service for aviation weather (she's a meteorologist, and I keep meaning to have her weigh in in a post about global warming) after some very kind phone calls and helpful remarks from the folks at Lockheed-Martin.

Mrs. Tmi3rd goes home tomorrow, and I'm going home to do house prep this evening, as well as meet my mother at the house.

Oh yeah- and ExZonie, it was really easy to hide in plain sight for several years just using that as my handle! But since I had to do a Facebook page to keep my opera peeps in the loop (as well as beat them about the head with posts reminding them how misinformed they are by watching MSNBC), I had to use my real name. Between that and having more than a few TV stories from a few years ago out there with my real name on it, I figured, what the hell...

Congratulations!  Our computer was down for the past 2 weeks, so I missed all of this.  You're in Fort Worth?  Where was the little one born?  All 4 of our girls were born at Harris Downtown, near our house.  The hubs works for Lockheed Martin, and is getting ready to celebrate his 26th year of employment out there!

If you guys need anything while you are still in town, shoot me an e-mail at kochs@airmail.net.  I guess I don't know your real-life name....

203 Tmi3rd -

Congratulations to you and the missus from me and mine.  I have fond recollections of meeting and chatting with you at the NY moron meetup.  I am sure your little one will give you a great deal of joy.  All the best.
