It's Spending Freeze Mania!
— Dave in Texas

Obama will freeze salaries of top White House officials.

U.S. President Barack Obama will freeze the salaries of senior White House officials and other top political appointees for savings of $4 million in fiscal 2011, a senior administration official said on Tuesday.

Fiscal responsibility. It's like a fevah, sweeping DC.

The Republicans were terrible because they spent like drunken Sailors, but the Democrats are great because they spend like a drunken Navy.

Obama defended the stimulus pork by explaining that the purpose of the stimulus was to spend money; now he's freezing the budget so as not to spend money.

I'm beginning to think that Obama's not the brilliant tactician I thought he was.

@56 btw, what's with the comments about pudding and dipping around here?i dont get it.  Posted by: davey

@85 When something good happens,  you want to dip your balls in it.  Right?  Well we do.  And what would feel better,  if you were literally going to dip your balls into a substance,  than having pudding as the substance you were going to dip your balls in?  Nothing.  That's what.  So pudding it is.  Let 'em soak.

FYI - Your right ball may swell,  your left ball may diminish in size.  It looks cool.  Kinda like your junk in 3D.

Have you seen Avatar?

So. they dipped their balls in pudding in Avatar?  I still don't get it.  And if that's what it's all about, what's in it for the girls?

Personally, I'll absolutely settle for okay looking.  But the MSM worships her "ladyship" to the point of nausea.  So she's fair game.  Plus, her attitude towards this country is less than admirable.

123 It's the proportion between a dime and half a million bucks.

When Obama spends, he uses a hatchet, a club, a jackhammer, a MOAB.  when he saves, he uses a tiny little nano-scalpel.

And this isn't even a cut.  It's a freeze.  The expense didn't actually go down, it simply didn't go up.

this is the mother of all bullshit-democrat whiney spending cuts.  It's so insulting and ridiculous.  Sarah Palin probably saved more via ebaying Alaskan State crap.

I'm thinking the pudding is symbolic.  Or in the case of the hopelessly single (which fits the profile here) proxy.  The happy couples here don't need pudding.  Except some of us who just like it. It's all relative.

135 Krauthammer covered this tonight.  Last year he spent a fortune on everything.  He raised government salaries across the board.  so now, he is freezing those salaries and that overspending.  So people aren't going to be fooled.  He laready pushed his spending money through freezing it now is meaningless.  He made a lot of good points.

136 You know, God forbid we should freeze federal spending at, like 2006 levels, rather than 2009 levels!  That would be like turning the clock back to the 4th century or something.  Of course, it would save a trillion dollars a year, but what is that to the Vanguard of the Revolution?

Exactly. A freeze is not savings. It's just not an increase. You're still spending the same amount of money, so you're not saving anything at all.

I would like to go on record and say that I am so very pleased that our president is showing his true colors, what with the salary freezes and the conservative fiscals and all that other fun stuff.  I bet he trades his SUV in next week for a Neon, or maybe one of those biodiesel trucks...yeah, a biodiesel truck.  Next month he'll start showing up to town halls in flannel and old Levi's and a DeKalb hat...yeah, a DeKalb hat.  He's going to start showing us that yes indeed presidenting is hard, hard work...and he's just the man for the job, what with his stunning, workhorse like pecs and all...yeah.

Welcome to the world of Democrat budgeting.  When they talk about spending cuts, they normally mean, "We were going to increase spending across the board by 10%.  Instead, we are going to only raise it 5%.  That means we actually cut spending by 5%.  You're welcome, American taxpayer."
