Jane Hamsher on the Myths of Pelosi's Historic Bill
— Ace

18 myths demolished, mostly from a lefty point of view, but many of them simply repudiating Obama's claims.

Here's Obama's idea of "bending the cost curve:"

Myth 11: The bill "bends the cost curve" on health care.

Fact: "Bends the cost curve" is a misleading and trivial claim, as the U.S. would still spend far more for care than other advanced countries.

In 2009, health care costs were 17.3% of GDP.

Annual cost of health care in 2019, status quo: $4,670.6 billion (20.8% of GDP)

Annual cost of health care in 2019, Senate bill: $4,693.5 billion (20.9% of GDP)

A tenth of a percent increase over projections of increasing premiums in the status quo.

What - a year wasted, a full transition to socialism and they don't even have any T-shirts?

You call this a success?

8 Jane Hamsher is Reichwing scrunt!

Wait, that's not right.

I'm confused.

Big F*cking Deal.

10 Lefties can do math when it's convenient for their argument.  If they aren't stupid, they are malicious.

Best to remember that.

11 Dennis the Peasant has been linking to Hamsher (and FireDogLake) for some time now on this.  Apparently she is one of the three leftists with principles left in the wild.

Horribly wrong, economy-destroying principles, admittedly, but principles nonetheless.

Posted by: bullfrog at March 23, 2010 11:17 AM (g+3Ca)

12 She knows as well as conservatives do that the debt bomb and tax explosion coming will decimate any chances of a future socialist health care system. The push back, nay, revolt that will ensue will set back liberal goals for decades.

Hamsher is defending her (as we all see it) crazy principles by attacking what she sees as a total bastardization of them.

Yeah.  But ultimately I don't care why she did it, it's a beautiful roasting of ObamaCare, and one that carries Moral Authority with progressives.

15 Myths????

How about lies. Every time one of them opens their mouth they puke out a lie.

Only an idiot would believe anything they say now.

16 Here's the link for folks yesterday who were doubting that the Republicans and The Heritage Foundtion were some of the originators of the single payer mandate. The quote is from Hugh Heweitt's book: http://bit.ly/bR1CsR "What Romney and Heritage discovered is that in fact thousands of these risk-takers end up needing health care, and of the expensive sort. They donÂ’t have insurance, so the state and the medical care providers eat the costs, which means the taxpayers and/or premium payers eventually get the bills. To this group of people who are able to insure themselves but unwilling to do so, the Romney plan gives no choice but lost of encouragement: beginning in January of 2008, they must either insure themselves or be subject to a costly fine. There are provisions the assist in making insurance plans widely known and some common purchasing power deployed as well, but it is primarily a stick that is wielded in their direction."

17 I enjoyed reading some of the comments there. One guy was saying Jane Hampster was a Bush apologist. Leftist are truly deranged. These people aren't democrats or progressives, they are leftists.

Apparently she is one of the three leftists with principles left in the wild.

I always knew that she was hot and I would like to have sex with her.

This confirms nothing but I thought it was relevant in a totally non-sequitar sort of way.

19 And those 17,000 health czars, er, um IRS agent enforcers will add another 10 billion to the 940. HOW DUMB DO THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS THINK WE ARE??

One of the biggest falsehoods in the whole Obamabortion is that all of a sudden people will be getting all of this wonderful health care they are not getting now.

A close friend of mine is a doctor, she works 60 hour weeks trying to take care of the patients she has and does not take new ones. She says there are no doctors to treat these people and there are only enough in the pipline to replace existing doctors who are getting ready for retirement.

The Democrats have done us one favor though, they have given everyone who can't get a doctors appoitment, who's insurance goes up and whose doctor retires someone to blame.

Democrats.

Beclowned yourself again, Junklicker. MASS care is not a Single payer mandate. FAIL, so verily FAIL.

The GOP voted no, and the public knows who voted with their wishes. Come November all the hacky retro-justification for socialism won't save you.

Nervous much?

31 Old Jane did a fairly okay job with this, but she left out one thing in her list of cost-cutting measures this bill fails to address: tort reform.

Posted by: TiredWench at March 23, 2010 12:25 PM (ulSJI)

32 Myth 2: Insurance companies hate this bill.

Fact: This bill is almost identical to the plan written by AHIP, the insurance company trade association, in 2009.
The original Senate Finance Committee bill was authored by a former Wellpoint vice president. Since Congress released the first of its health care bills on October 30, 2009, health care stocks have risen 28.35%.

Of all the offensiveness of last week's drama, what I found truly revolting was the demmunist mantra of "Republicans are against it because they're in the pockets of the Insurance companies!"

And the dummies took the bait. I can not wait to throw this in the face of any demmunist jackass that tries to justify the monstrosity. Guess who wrote the bill, bitches?

Has Chris Matthews heard about this?

Again folks, about the lying thing. When they lie they steal the truth, and clearly try to gain by misinformation. This is plainly fraud, and as citizens we must insist they pay -- immediate loss of position, banned forever. Fair is fair.

By the way, Democrats are hereby known as FISH. No, not because they smell......because they get caught over and over.
