Jerry Brown, I'm Back
— Dave in Texas

And he wants to be California's governor again.

"You learn a lot running a business. But you don't learn anything about working in government," she said.

Brown says that in the past 27 years he's learned to be more patient, less impulsive.

"I was pretty colorful! Pretty interesting! So next time I may not be as colorful, but I'll still be interesting," he said.

He won't be as colorful, or as interesting. Still, Linda Rondstadt, back in the day.

It ain't on my resume but it's noteworthy all the same.

3 I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president...

Carter Power will soon go away
I will be Fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school!

[Chorus:]
California Uber Alles
California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face

Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay!

[Chorus]

Now it is 1984
Knock-knock at your front door
It's the suede/denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece

Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower.

DIE on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown
When you mess with President Brown

He was ahead of his time on environmental issues, pushing solar power. He also wanted a space satellite for California's emergency communications, earning him the nickname "Governor Moonbeam." The state eventually adopted his idea.

"I was out there riding point, ahead of the consensus," Brown said. "And that always engenders a certain amount of ridicule or criticism."

This man was on the Cutting Edge of Stupid!!!

California needs him!!!

It really isn't the public officials.  It's that the public wants officials who will implement the bad policies that the public believes in.

From there it's just a matter of electing to office the candidates that best articulate the stupid policies that Californians want in an exciting way.

Californians don't make a connection between the trouble they are in and the policies, if they even recognize they are even in trouble.

Do people who live in houses on stilts on the edge of cliffs surrounded by tinder dry brush comprehend the word "trouble".

All he talks about is that if he is governor he will raise taxes and release half the prison population. Bastard.

he wasnt the fraud-
he wouldnt let them use songs HE WROTE for a Levi's ad.

They sued him and won, but in doing so they proved his whole point that they had sunk from their anti-corporate motif in the 1980s.

94 FTR, according to Wiki Brown attended a Jesuit seminary but left and then married in 1990 in a ceremony by Barbara Boxer and then in the Catholic Church.  So he isn't a Jesuit and he is married.  they didn't mention kids or grand kids.

The Levi's add was his excuse, but that doesn't explain why he didn't pay them the past royalties.

96 Funny the past royalties issue did not come out UNTIL the Levis thing.

No issues in the 1980s, no assistance to defend Jello during the Frankenchrist controversy, etc.

I don't care for Jello's politics at all, but he did more for the band, raised more of the capital, and suffered the HARDEST when that 1985 PMRC crap came out. East Bay Ray and the rest got slaps, while Biafra I believe was actually jailed.

So I think that makes up for all of that.

Not to mention the regrouped band sucks total ass.

I got so upset I had to go get a sixer of PBR tallboys.

Seriously, I will go completely cash-basis and the hell with the taxes if Cali gets trillions (and you know that's what it would take) in stolen bailout cash.  They wouldn't change a thing and keep right on doing what they're doing.

110 We're still paying for the insane policies Brown championed the last time he held the Governor's office. The highest rated AM drive time show in SoCal has been crucifying Brown over this stuff and that is before the opposing campaigns weigh in.

He would be a stunning disaster, or rather continue to be a stunning disaster but I don't think he has a chance.

Posted by: epobirs at March 02, 2010 07:46 PM (EU0Eg)

111 About a year ago I saw Brown on a Bart train - alone/no staff (he is Cali's AG - shouldn't there be a flunky or two?). Likely going from SFO/airport to his home in Oakland - probably a 30-40 min. trip. Nobody bothered him on the train, though he was buried in work of some sort so he wasn't open to conversation. Growing up in Mass I'm familiar with limousine liberals. Cali's loaded with them too. So I give the guy credit. On the other hand, after Prop 8/gay marriage went against the left he sued to have it overturned. He claimed that EVERY ONE of his staff lawyers said they had to sue. So that makes him deeply OF the left, if not a full blown leftie (anymore). I think the guy is simply driven to serve, motivated by chasing his Dad's achievments. Pat Brown, JB's dad, is legendary - he presided as governer during the glory years of California. So in a sense it's a huge opportunity to leave his own mark on the state. Meg Whitman (from memory/paraphrase) in a commercial: 'We have to say what we mean and mean what we say'. Can Brown be worse than that? Have we not learned a lesson about nonsense slogans over the past year? If Poizner doesn't win the primary it's going to be McCain/Obama all over again - voting with a vomit bag.

112 One of the first things this turd did was cut nearly all the funding for graduate assistantships in the state university system and raise tuition.

I had no use for him in 1975 and I have a long memory.  Non-crazy Californians ( we are legion ) have very long memories.  He cut worthwhile spending and raised spending on Crap.

as a non-sexual who doesn't seem to care about money, he is pretty much scandal-proof.  How many Democrats can say that??

115 Yeah, it was sure "colorful" and interesting when Gov. Moonbeam signed into law the fair share fees act which guaranteed unions, and thereby Dems, could collect union dues from non-members. The unions just funneled it right back to the Dem party for campaigns.

@117 Yeah well none of that matters now since all nice union workplace employees are required to 'sign up' with the union and pay 'dues' aka tribute to the dems.  Its sick, and its so corrupt it sickens me to the core.  Anyone who's been working there less than 15 years probably has no chance of any pension whatsoever but the drones pay the dues anyway. (they like paying the monthly pension of their fatass boss)

BTW, formerly state run utility's are so corrupt, sick, twisted and vomit inducing I wonder why there hasn't been a physical uprising yet.  They tell the drones at the bottom all about collective bargening while making corrupt deals with the state.  Using new hires to balance the books (with a high turnover of new hires paying entrance fees)..  oops did I say that? Sorry

Imagine being forced to join a union?  Thats so fascist it makes me ill.  SIEG HEIL!!! CALIFORNIA UBER ALLES!!!!

If California state rules are what Obama has in store for the rest of the country, we're in deep trouble.

120 Moonbeam -

Lifelong republican, lived in Oakland, CA for 15 years - Jerry Brown was the best thing to happen to Oakland - he actually applied "pragmatism" to the problems, amazingly within a couple of months of being elected
- panhandlers disappeared
- announcements that major chain stores were considering returning to the downtown
- empty & abandoned warehouses were bulldozer or convert to upscale apartments/condos (with minimal "affordable housing" set asides)
- the police cracked down on crime
- the trash on the streets was cleaned up
- graffiti went away

I never thought moonbeam would work out, but honestly, he has his act together. Kinda struggling now, Fiorina is an *sshole (had friends who worked at HP), but has "R" behind her name.....

Amazingly, there could actually be an election here in Californistan where regardless of the who wins, I'll be satisfied. (Normally it is the opposite, not unlike when McCain was running for Pres.)
