Jim "buy! buy! buy!" Cramer just became a bear
— Purple Avenger

Is there nothing ObamaCare™ can't do? If it can turn frothing at the mouth uber-bull Jim Cramer instantly into a bear ominously whispering sweet nothings of "double dip" into our ears, we have truly witnessed a miracle. Perhaps Obama really is the messiah who can work miracles?

...I think you have to put the double-dip recession back on the table...
...Those who have read me here and watch "Mad Money" know that I was out there early thinking that 2010 would not produce a double-dip, despite ample commentary that it would. But if health care reform passes, I am going to revise my thinking -- and you know I think it will -- especially because immigrant amnesty will cause the health care system to be overloaded and our taxes to soar...
...the president will get a second wind. That means the whole agenda -- cap-and-trade, Card Check for easier organizing (...) and amnesty for immigrants who are currently not citizens -- will quickly come to pass, perhaps even before the election. To pay for these items I see a dramatic increase in ordinary tax rates and perhaps capital gains and dividend tax rates in 2011 either reaching or exceeding those ordinary income rates as this current version of the Democratic Party believes that only rich people own stocks....

They're emboldened now that they know a cram-down will work.  I think Cramer is right here.  They'll go for it.

8 The tax increase part is virtual certainty.

Next time it will have to be driven down into the lower/mid middle class since there's just not enough "rich" people to support the kind of spending they want even if you confiscated 100% of their wealth and left them all living in boxes under a bridge.

Congress will have no choice in this matter, since they refuse to consider stopping spending as an option.

They'll be compelled to hit everything across the board, excise taxes on tires, sin taxes, I even think they'll start "means testing" Social Security and Medicare as part of the ongoing "soak the rich" plan.  They'll be busting promises all over the place like pinatas.

@5: "They'll rush as much though between now and Nov damn the consequences to their careers or the country."

Their careers will  be fine.  Even if they lose their offices, they still have their Congressional pensions and other benefits.  Then they move on to lobbying, or to new, appointed positions in the new agencies set up to operate all the new bullshit.  The country? Heh, they've been wanting to kill that for decades.

12 I have a feeling this opens the floodgates for their liberal transformative agenda. They know they are going to lose in November so they have to transform America now as quick as they can towards socialism. The Mark Steyn article on the subject had the right idea. Sure they can lose one election but after we turn to socialism its the liberal's country, they might be out of power now and then but the conservatives will just be holding their chair or them.

17 PA, spot on.

I got to thinking earlier about that Gutierrez "bribe"... the one where he was promised that immigration reform would be fasttracked and rammed through.  And we are all talking about how the Dems are going to get destroyed this november.  What happens if they get amnesty through?  Will Hispanics become a given voting block like blacks?  How do you think they will do with an additional 10M voters?

They don't have 60 votes to pass jack shit the rest of the year, that is why they went "all in" on this bill.  They can only do one reconciliation bill per year, and this one is it.  No way they have 60 votes for amnesty or cap and trade.

Remember, the whole reason this health care bill took so long was because cap and trade died in the Senate.  It was supposed to bring in $600 billion a year to pay for health care.  And that was when Ted Kennedy was still voting.

Still, if Cramer's comments start a massive bear run I won't mind a bit.  Even worth losing some of my meager 401(k) to show these Democrats that the taxpayers of this country are not going to stand for this.  We are cashing in our chips and leaving the casino.

Are we headed for Paris, 1789, where a legislator cannot be convinced that his constituents are serious until he's hung from a lamppost?

29 I thought it quiet telling of the final vote and the "Yes We Did" chant. Sadly , a new day has come.  It is no longer an American trait to show honor with a victory, but now the winning political party must humiliate all of those who do not agree with their political points. There was a time when America was ruled by honorable, descent honest people, that today, has changed forever.  Now, serving the people is not enought, they that disagree, must be taught a lesson.  This disrepect can cause rage amoung the American people.  If,  this congress pushes the people too far,  the consequences maybe severe.

36 I don't see how they would have the time for, Cap'n Trade, Card Check, and Amnesty when the States start imploding under the massive wave of unemployment (and no tax revenues) that the Health Control Bill is going to ignite.

I can't imagine how many firms and small concerns have been doing their best to ride out the storm of threatening rhetoric from D.C. since late 2008, hoping against hope that the worst case scenario wouldn't come to pass (it just did) and that they wouldn't have to shed valuable employees because they are just too godamned expensive.

Well, all of your employees are fucking expensive as shit now!

To all of you who have part-time status in your current job:

Buh-Bye!

To those of you working 40 hrs per week at an hourly wage:

25% of you will be kept on at your current wage and benefit plan but we'll call you in when we need you, could be 20 hrs per week or 30 but you won't know either way until Tues. of every week. Oh, sometimes we might need you for 50 hours per week and if you're not there for those extra hours...Buh-Bye!

A very lucky 15% of you have now been promoted to management! You know what that means?  You get salary!  Same amount per year pretty much as you were making before but now you are responsible and pretty much on call for 70 hours per week, 24x7.  If you fail to live up to the expectations of your new position of trust and reliability...Buh-Bye!

The rest of you...Buh-Bye!

To those of you in lower to middle management positions:

We appreciate all of the hard work you've done for us through the years and especially if you are a true veteran of this organization we will appreciate the training you will give to all the new up and comers in management and understand the financial constraints our organization is going through while we all adjust to this new transition...It's an exciting new...Buh-Bye!

To those of you in upper management positions:

I dunno 'zactly what happens there but honestly I'm pretty sure it looks something like a night dive I once took off the coast of Cuba and found a nest (60 or so?) of mating nurse sharks just tearing the shit out of a coral reef.  Like, bumping and writhing around so violently as to cause ancient dead coral accretions to collapse.

So, some of you...Buh-Bye!

Thanks for typing up those memos so that the rest of our valued team-members would understand.

'Preciate it.

37 Read this elsewhere, and it's 100% spot on: You're going to get a health insurance plan written by a committee whose Chairman has publicly stated that he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that has literally not read it but yet has made damn certain to exempt themselves from it, to be signed by a president that also has not read it, with funding administered by a treasury secretary who cheated on his ****ing income taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is $14 Trillion in debt to begin with and adding $2 Trillion a year more in red ink per year BEFORE this bill adds even more red ink to it. And it will be delivered to you by a House of "Representatives" that won't even actually vote on it, headed by a Speaker who is on record saying that they'll have to, "pass it to see what's in it."

Time to quote Jimmy Cliff:

And I keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when you're dead you can't
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave

So as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now of what's mine
And then the harder they come the harder they'll fall, one and all
Ooh the harder they come the harder they'll fall, one and all

40 Cramer is dumb. The stock market is the WORST metric to hang one's hat on to gauge success and failure. DJIA is not the economy, it's just 30 or so companies. I actually thought Ocare will gin up healthcare stocks for no other reason that we're forced to buy them. I don't know if any of the DJIA companies is a healthcare company.

And my husband works for the State of New Jersey, and Gov. Christie has already said that the expansion of Medicaid in this bill cannot be paid for by the state, meaning probably layoffs and more furlough days for state employees.  He is non-union and has only been there for 2 years.

Hey rockmom, I feel your pain, really, I do.

But, on the bright side, you might be in a better position than most, if you think about it.

At your current rate you are less expensive than having somebody in-house do what you do for them.  Otherwise why would they have brought you on as a "consultant" in the first place?

If they had brought you on as an official employee 1 month ago, how comfortable would you feel today?

At least as a consultant, if they want to have a conversation about reducing your hours or your rate, you get to make the call as to whether or not the new deal is worth your time.

And it is your fucking call.

You know, or should at least have a good guess as to, how much value your services in general are worth and how much extra value this particular company gets out of you just by your being familiar with their operation.

64 This douchebag really thinks he can sell this turd to America in time to save the Democrats in November.

Heck, he's been on that trip since birth. The Marxist fuck actually believes that he's saved the world and done everyone a solid.  He really thinks that he's got it all figured out and all the bitter, clingy bible & gun toting folks need to STFU and listen to their betters.

Heck, Geraldo and the rest of the worthless, water-carrying media has been going on about Obama's "resurrection" all night and the spin machine is already in high gear, praising these fucks for their "courage" to vote against the will of the people. Be ready for the next several month of them telling us how fortunate we are the Teh Won "saved" us all and about the endless, bounty of gifts we are about to receive!

I cannot sleep.  I feel absolutely ill.  Of course they are going to go for broke on all the other radical crap in their agenda (card check, amnesty, cap and trade, etc).  They are absolutely exhilarated by their evil corrupt "victory", and this now gives them the license to press on.

Tomorrow a.m., I am writing letters to almost all the charities I regularly support.  With the exception of just a few (my church, Wounded Warriors, USO, etc.) I am sending them letters that will read something like this:

"Dear______,

In the future, please save yourself the postage and the money and do not call me and do not send me any solicitations for donations requesting money.  I am currently no longer able to support you as all the money I previously set aside to contribute to organizations like yours and others will be used to try and take back my country.  The Democrat party has done egregious harm to this country that I love and is trying to irrevocably change it with its "historic vote for health care" on March 21, 2010.  I will now be donating the money that I had given to your organization and others in the past to political candidates that will try and prevent the continued downward slide of this country into socialism.  I am fairly certain that if we are not able to turn this trainwreck around, your non-profit organization as well as others will suffer even greater financial loss because of policies enacted by the Democrats.  The United States used to be the country that was the most generous in helping other countries through non-profit organizations like yours.  Americans donate to charities annually on a scale not seen in other countries.  Elections have consequences, and I'm sorry that I no longer can support your very commendable organization.  I do appreciate all the good work you've done in the past, but I need to concentrate my resources elsewhere while I still have them.

Sincerely,

X

68 As Congress passed TEFRA and the supplemental FY82 appropriations and as FY83 appropriations worked their way through the process, Congress also had to pass the second reconciliation bill. A second reconciliation? one might ask. Wasn't the whole idea of reconciliation to put everything into one big package? Well, yes, that is what everybody said. In 1981 all the commentators remarked on the brilliant strategy of one big vote, but it required the House leadership's cooperation, which was no longer (in fact, far from) forthcoming. Democratic leaders decided that there was no reason to make life easy for their opponents by creating a package. Instead, they brought up separate reconciliation bills for separate votes.

During the period from 1980-2004, covering budget resolutions for FY1981-FY2005, the Senate completed action on a total of 19 reconciliation acts stemming from reconciliation directives in budget resolutions for 17 different years (see Table 7).
In all but three of these years, the Senate considered a single reconciliation measure in response to the reconciliation directives in the budget resolution. In the three remaining years, the Senate considered two different reconciliation measures each year, resulting in the enactment of five reconciliation acts — one act in 1980 (for FY1981) and two acts each in 1982 and 1997 (for FY1983 and FY199 .

It seems that one reconciliation bill per year is what was intended, but it looks like two reconciliation bills have been passed in some years.

In a sense, stocks can be a hedge like gold ... you at least own "assets" instead of worthless paper.  I figured we'd bounce to DOW 8500 or so, but we've gone to 10,700 ... I'm still waiting to see the double bottom, or at least a move back to 7600.

But it seems more and more like the Obama goal is to destroy capitalism ... they first ran the US supertanker economy aground, now they are shooting torpedoes in it.

I do indeed think that it would do all of us well to "remember the dignity of the House" as displayed on this day.

Guess what the Democrats did today that everybody thought was impossible.

They PROVED without a doubt that not only are entitlements NOT some fucking untouchable 3rd rail but that with enough fucking political will they can be gutted even when the people cry out against it.

Jeebus.

They started out with the worst one.

They just eviscerated any chance of Medicare being there for the current generation, much less any future ones!  The entitlement most beloved of the wealthiest and votiest block of the electorate!  And they didn't even try to help the poor bastards who have no choice but to depend on it.

So.

Now we all know.

It can be done.

The Republicans are the party of taking care of Gramma now, 'cause she's all old and stuff and has no choice, but wants us to never be in such a vulnerable position ourselves vis-a-vis the kind of Democrat hyenas who would gleefully shove us off on to the nearest ice-floe as they just did with Gramma.

There is no way that this winds up a happy fairy tale ending, no matter what.

I'm going to bet though, that the "average" American will pick the hard sock to the jaw of accepting some unhappy truths over the degrading force-feeding of noxious lies.

I don't think so. We are breaking new ground here. I believe anything could happen this November. The commies are counting on the public to forget by Nov but they played this out too long.

People are madder than I have ever seen them before in my lifetime. When I say people, I mean the real everyday people who go to work and try to support their families. I don't mean the welfare queens like Peggy Joseph.  Those scum have no idea what kind of trouble they are in for.

This could be the chance that real conservatives finally take back the House and most of the Senate and set up for 2012 when conservatives get a 60 vote majority in the Senate.

Or they decide that since the commies have gone lawless they will too and commence cram-downs to totally eliminate all the socialist FDR and LBJ programs.

Anything could happen. I am not even writing off the chance of an Article V convention to do it before 2012.

108 This whole thing illustrates yet again that there is no such thing as a "moderate Dem". Stupak has an ACU rating for 2009/2008 of 16/12.  If that was being measured as a reflection of liberalism it would be 84/88.  Not low enough to hit the magic 80 to signify DINO as we would do for a RINO on the Republican side.  Yes, he is a reliable lefty socialist.

So how did he get the name as a "moderate".  he purported to be anti-abortion because he was "Catholic". Moderate is just another label invented by the news media to reflect someone who supports most of their liberal agenda.  A dem is a moderate if he strays from the pro-abortion side. A Republican is a moderate if he votes with the dems more than 50% of the time.

It's still negative and heading down. If the index has a predictive value (jury is out on that) then it certainly could be predicting a double dip. And, most interestingly, that double dip would be in the official GDP numbers around September/October - just in time for the Nov elections!. If so, the House carnage could be apocalyptic. 70? 80? 90??!? seats switching? Hard to say.

115 103, 105. We definitely are in uncharted territory here. While this seemingly moves the country further left governmentally, the Communist/Alinsky way is to gradually increase the temp of the proverbial frog in the pot of water. With yesterday's vote (the culmination of a bitter 18 months), the Leftists just cranked the burner from a gentle simmer to a rolling boil in a nanosecond. The only way to stop this I think is in the hands of the people. If enough people refuse to obey an illegally crafted, now illegally enacted and fundamentally unconstitutional law, then it crumbles. That means a significant number of us taking the fines and perhaps jail. Even better would be to just not pay any income taxes. Starve the governmental beast of what it feeds on - our money. You'd be surprised at what people can endure before they react, but by then it's too late. The key is doing all this now, but it will take a lot of courage. We are going to be tasting an awful lot of some very bitter tears for the foreseeable future. The x-factor in all this is the internet, talk radio and the exposure of the dinosaur media for the hacks and propagandists that they are. If we were living in the 60's-70's, this could not have been opposed as effectively, as vocally and for as long as it has been. Until Mark Lloyd is able to control us, it's all we have to rally the troops. Uncharted territory indeed. WE HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN TO FIGHT. Courage my friends. Courage.

I agreee.

It's not just that the HCR thing got dragged out too long.

This started with the insane Spendulous Bill early last year, following hard upon the heels of all of the shifty "bailouts" of 2008...

I know I went to my first Tea Party on April 15th of 2009.

As a matter of fact, I gotta tell you, that on the 2nd big Tea Party in my city on the 4th of July, a mention about an amendment to our state constitution preventing the federal government intruding into our health care from one of the "official" speakers on stage got some polite applause, and one hearty WHOOOO!

I know it was only one, 'cause I did it.  And felt sheepish when a bunch of people looked at me like, "whaaaa?".

(Don't ever be the only one to go WHOOO! in a crowd.)

Don't know what the hell happened over the next four weeks but hot damn, people here got all fired up about health care too.

...Hope that some of the people who chatted with me later (after deciding that I was probably a harmless lunatic) passed on some of my concerns about the project of "Universal Healthcare" to some of their friends.

It's not just this.

And even if some people showed up late to the party, a lot of people are putting more thought, time and effort into being American citizens than I would have ever believed.

It's not just this.

Even though this is the worst of it.

People are starting to question everything that they have been told to believe about the way the world works.

They are checking the assumptions handed down to them by experts against reality and finding those assumptions fatally flawed.

Not everyone.

But enough.

120 If amnesty is to be stopped, the right needs to immediately come to terms with the fact any opposition will be deemed "racism."  Then, they need to get over it.  The right needs to tell it like it is:  the purpose of amnesty is to add bodies to the entitlement-recipient rolls, and to give Dems votes.  Pro-amnesty Republicans who talk about "immigrant family values" and "conservatives yearning for entrepreneurial opportunity" and  whatnot should be denounced as delusional.

125 Degan on Imus said that the provision that insures coverage for those with pre existing conditions kicks in for children immediately and for everyone else in 2014.   So what is the point then?

The point probably is for a butt-load of people with crippled children who require $6,000 worth of care per week just to live, to sign up for the private plan that I am currently on for $150 per month and then have me cry to my Representative about the mean nasty insurance company raising my monthly premium to $3000 per month because the insurance company is so heartless and greedy.

Then my Representative will haul those greedy bastards in front of some panel and put them out of business.

So that I have no insurance at all.

I'm pretty sure that's what the point is.

The Triarii were usually the oldest and very experienced of the Roman army, and their job was to defend against disaster as a last resort, or to shock the enemy with a different look at the right moment. The Triarii were armed with the Roman equivalent of the phalanx style spear, the Hastae. If the heavy infantry were pushed back, the Triarii would charge forward with their spears, hopefully with the effect of shocking the enemy and allowing the Princeps and Hastati time to regroup. They were used as a last resort, and the Latin expression ‘ad triarios redisse’, or it has come to the triarii, became a general phrase meaning that something was in a desperate situation.

Sorry fer the colors. It's cut and paste job. In more modern terms, Ad Triarios Redisse! could translate to "Fire the FPF!"

143 What I'm saying is that they made a hugh deal about stopping insurance companies from baring you for a pre existing condition.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  "An end to "discrimination" against people with pre-existing conditions!"

I too thought that they were talking about everybody, all at once, not just children.

But same difference, really.

Proves to me that 90% of the public doesn't even fucking understand what insurance is.

Even the media people were all like "Well, that's got to be a good thing, right?  Who could possibly want insurance companies to "discriminate" against sick people?"

Me.

I want my insurance company to discriminate against already sick people!

If something really horrible were to happen to me, medically, there is no way I could pay the costs of treatment.

But, if my insurance company weighs the likelihood of something really horrible happening, against the amount of my money it will get to use in investments over time including a possible pay-out, then I'm more than happy to keep giving them my money year after year, even if I never claim $1 in benefits.

I don't want and I don't need free "health care" for every sniffle and hang-nail.

I need to be able to pay a reasonable amount per month into a system that can cover me if things go way south and I get diagnosed with MS or something or an anvil drops on my head.

Oh, and if I get diagnosed with cancer or something before I think to find coverage for myself?

Well then, how is that your fault?

I mean it's sad and all, especially for me, but do you owe me money 'cause am all cancery and sad now?

I don't think so.

But charitable donations would be welcome.

Posted by: CDR M at March 22, 2010 03:48 AM (cvmTR)

155 No it is not all over yet there is still a very small chance that the courts could kill it.

First the States must follow through on that threat to sue. Keep in mind that a lot of them were basing their intent to sue over the "deem to pass BS" that was tabled.

When one or more does sue, what ever federal court they sue in must issue a stay and then agree to hear the case. Agreeing to hear the case involves granting the State "standing".

Keep in mind the rules for standing in a federal court; Injury, causation, and redressability. Given that in previous cases the Supremes have been reluctant to intrude in "legislative" matters one of the more liberal courts in say CA may say that the case does not have redressability in that the supremes can not make the State whole.

And even if it does make it past standing it will ultimately wind up in the Supreme Court where the 4 liberals would vote to uphold a law that made Obama "leader for life" and it would be up to which side of the bed Kennedy got up on.

Yes, it could make it through all that and be rendered moot.

I think an Article V convention would have a better chance of fixing this as well as all the rest of the commie shit as long as the States were able to hammer out a condition that the convention MUST be like the original in which each State only got one vote. That would block the ability of the communists in States like NY and CA from doing mischief.

It did pass in the House, but that was the reconciliation package which now must go to the Senate. The news media is calling that the "fix it" package.  Isn't it amazing that when the Republicans threatened to use it to get some of Bush's judges appointed they called it the "Nuclear Option"?  Now it is a "fix it" package.

Here's the problem with measuring it that way, they don't adjust for inflation and we have been doing nothing if not inflating the money supply in the last year. This is one of the reasons the stock market still looks good and one of the reasons gas prices are holding steady at $3 a gallon. Do you think this doesn't effect the GDP numbers? There isn't going to be a double dip recession because we never recovered from the original one. The Senate-passed health care bill, which the House is expected to “deem” passed on March 21, 2010, omitted protections for military health plans that were included in the House bill.  Specifically, the Senate language does not appear to give the Department of VeteransÂ’ Affairs (VA) health care system specific protection from interference by other government agencies administering the various authorities contained in the massive bill, as it pertains to “minimum essential coverage.”  The minimum essential coverage language in the Senate bill does cover “the veterans health care program under chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code,” but it is unclear whether that covers veteransÂ’ survivors and dependents.

The final bill would leave it up to a bureaucrat at the Department of the Treasury to determine whether TRICARE meets the minimum standards under the DemocratsÂ’ individual health insurance mandate.  If that bureaucrat decides against TRICARE, service members and their families would have to buy some other health coverage or pay a penalty.

I've predicted (and hoped) that the GOP would take back neither the House or Senate in 2010.  Nudge right up there, but let the Dims still own it all.   It's going to take awhile to straighten out the economy, double dip or not, so let the Dims keep taking the blame, right into 2012.  Then the GOP takes both houses along w/ the WH.

So, I guess, massive tax increases will be the fault of Republicans?.. On a bill they unanimously voted AGAINST?

We need to do more than take back Congress and the WH.

We need politicians who will articulate what is(was) great about this country, to teach the "muddle" what freedom really is, to teach them what harm has fallen them because of the decades of intrusion by the federal government and the decades of failure of defense of our rights by the SCOTUS.

The problem is that when a conservative speaks, other conservatives understand, but the "muddle" really does not. We need to reach them.

And we need to educate them that a Democratic pol. WILL steal their rights, if the pol. thinks it's safe to do so. So people like "my" Steven Lynch voted no *only* because the House calculated that his was one of the most vulnerable seats. They are a voting bloc to steal our freedom. And they are very very reliable in that way.

Christoph, first of all The Atlantic sucks.

Second, Megan McCardle is as obstinate as Camille Paglia. Both of them find fault in Obama but the y always make sure to tell us they hate the Republicans even more.

So Megan McCardlepretty much calls Obama a liar, a fraud, and a buffoon, but at the end of the day, the Republicans are even worse. I don't know if she puts that in there gratuitously for the left wing Atlantic readership or if she really believes it.

Correct. That's why my fear is they are going to drop recon like a hot potato here and then use it for as much of the rest of the agenda as they can. Someone said they are "now" emboldened. Not true. They've been emboldened for a while.

Posted by: The Mega Independent at March 22, 2010 04:29 AM (J3CA3)

201 The final bill would leave it up to a bureaucrat at the Department of the Treasury to determine whether TRICARE meets the minimum standards under the DemocratsÂ’ individual health insurance mandate.  If that bureaucrat decides against TRICARE, service members and their families would have to buy some other health coverage or pay a penalty.

Pffft!

I'm surprised at you spreading worry and uncertainty for no good reason!

Actually, I'm a little bit disappointed in you, as well.

I have no doubt, whatsoever, that once any service member or a member of their family who wishes to continue on TRICARE submits proof of gender reassignment surgery to the IRS that they will be immune from any and all penalties.

US Attorney General Eric Holder took office pledging a sharp shift away from the last administration's policies, but an apparent change of heart in the White House could see the top lawyer leave his job. ...

[A] series of gaffes, fights with both Republicans and Democrats, and apparent disagreements between him and the White House have left Holder looking increasingly embattled.

Good luck with that; the sheep are so fucking lacking in critical thinking skills thanks to our shit education system that they're functionally illiterate.  Case in point:  Three years ago when my family flew to India out of Amsterdam and I sat beside a guy who was traveling to try and get Indian doctors to come work in Amsterdam.  It didn't dawn on my wife and kids, all of whom voted for the jugeared fuck, that the reason it was necessary for him to cajole doctors to relocate was because the state-run system was so shitty that nobody in their right mind would voluntarily do so without massive incentives.

Ok folks, deep breath here.  I know the health care vote was demoralizing to say the least, but we now more than ever we need to keep our wits about us and think clearly.

A few things that we have clearly been shown here is that our enemy has no morals, no scruples, and will stop at nothing to complete their socialist take over of America.

However this isn't a done deal yet.  Constitutional challenges abound in this atroicity they laughing call ObamaCare, and as to new legislation we have one clear advantage, they no longer have a philibuster proof Senate.

So, first and foremost we need to get right back on the phones, fire up our keyboards and fax machines and redouble our assault.  But this time not on the Democrats, but rather on the Republican's.

Let the usual suspects in Washington like Olympia Snow who routinely sell us down the river on stuff like this that were watching, and that it won't just be the Democrats who are going to have it rough in the next election.  The little R by her name is no gaurantee.

If she or any of the rest of these useless RINO's give the Democrats so much as a wink or a smile that we will burn their political houses to the ground and salt the area around it when we're through.  Let Snow, Graham, and the rest of these idiots know that we are watching them like hawks.

That if anyone of them so much as puts a toe across the line and votes yes on anything the Democrats want, even if it's "just a procedural vote" or "we just wanted to move the debate foward" or whatever other lame ass excuse they care to use that when they do come up for relection we'll all be donating as much as we can possibly afford to make sure they are soundly defeated in the primary.

Then make damn sure the republican party is aware that if they don't start putting up primary challenges against these worthless RINO's that they can forget about our support entirely.

I agree with Hannity, what we need is a re-energized Republican party, but if we want that first we must insist that these damn leeches be removed once and for all.

So forget about dialing back the pressure, we need to dial it up like never before.  McCain, Snow, Graham, they all need to know that we could care less which issue it is, be it immigration, cap and tax, whatever.. a single yes vote, even on procedure, will cost them their career.  We need to let the republican party know that from now until the next election there is a zero tolerance policy in effect.  All republicans must either stay united against and fight every single item of the Obama agenda or they should lose party support permanently, and if the party lacks the balls to do it then the party isn't our party anymore.

The time for half measures, half truths and more politics as usual is over.  My country, a country that I have bled for and watched good friends die for is under assault, and it's time for the Repulican party to decide once and for all which side of this war their on.

Here, from WaPo is why we need to stay engaged:

President Obama is set to begin an immediate public relations blitz aimed at turning around AmericansÂ’ opinion of the health-care bill.

Planning inside the West Wing for the post-vote period has proceeded quietly, even as the president and his allies on Capitol Hill were fighting for the measureÂ’s passage.

Reshaping the legislationÂ’s image will take place in three phases, White House aides said: the immediate aftermath; the seven months until the November midterm elections; and the several years that follow, during which many provisions in the measure will gradually take effect.

It pisses me off to no end that this turd isn't done yet, that he, the Dems and the effing MSM are going to continue to lie about the crap sandwich they just foisted on all of us.  The fact that his "PR blitz" is going to be using tax funded dollars to promote these fatuous lies is even more rage inducing.  We've got to keep on this situation!  So if you thought you'd already seen enough of our Liar in Chief, you haven't seen anything yet!  I'm sure he'll be breaking out Michelle and the girls to pimp his message.

Ok folks, deep breath here.  I know the health care vote was demoralizing to say the least, but we now more than ever we need to keep our wits about us and think clearly.

How's this for clear. It's over man. It passed, the largest entitlement of my generation passed. We're well on the road to being a European Social Democracy. Just get ready for the Republicans to turn into Tories.

Does that mean I am throwing in the towel? No, but it does mean we are likely fighting a losing battle. Now we're just a rearguard, hoping to hold off any major until November. But the fact remains is we are now fighting a losing war. That doesn't mean we need to stop holding out, it just means that the outcome is likely decided.

Entitlements don't go away, they get bigger. If you know better than me, please cite me a massive entitlement that has disappeared. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, SCHIP, the list goes on.

We will be a social democracy. I know every one, even independents, are pissed about how this went down, but that will pass. It always does. And in times people will learn to love the entitlements, become dependent on them , and fight to keep them around.(See: old people and medicare or social security).

The sad fact is elections have consequences, and the 2008 election had major consequences. Just a few more people show up in Minnesota and the Dems dont have 60 senate votes. Same with Alaska, or several other states.

The best thing we can hope for is to keep the Democrats out of a super majority for the rest of our lives, so at the very least they can't add anything else to this new healthcare entitlement, because what exists is all but permanent.

To use a phrase from one of my favorite authors, America as we know it is gone man, solid gone.

There's an upside tho.  The economy still sucks, there's no jobs, and Obama wants to focus on a passed bill.  More people will be outraged.

This bill is going to kill the economy and jobs even more.  No small busines in its right mind will hire right now, and any business over 50 employees will probably pare down to under 50 so they can avoid the penalty that's incurred if "any of their employees gets federally subsidized health care."  Not to mention how taxes are going to go up on businesses small and big.

There will come a moment - always does - when political rage becomes overt. May not happen in our lifetimes. It sounds bizarre, but its the only way I can put it. Revolutions always trend liberalizing so we need to keep our traditions intact.

Is that teachers that aren't all PC cloned and leftardic alt history alt culture ideologues need to start pushing their way into the Beta Teams that make up the leadership pool of the national teachers' union.

We can't get anywhere sustainable without bringing our education system back into line with reality. A good way to start working that is to get control of that union.

299 Anyway, I apologize to anyone if they think my personal experience with Catholicism and its doctrines, which caused me to leave the religion as a child, means I dislike you if you're a Catholic.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, among the women whom I'm romantically involved with at present, the one I'm most involved with is a practicing Catholic.

I appreciate that Catholics are often my ally on the issue of opposing abortion. I certainly agree with them on that subject. And Catholic college babes are just hot. (Who came up with Catholic school uniforms anyway? A really masculine yet chaste heterosexual priest? I dunno. All I can say is, "Good job, man!")

Anyway, moving on.

I often admire Catholics for their committment to life. I often disdain the ones who justify abortion, but claim to be Catholic. It isn't because they're Catholic. It's because they are and/or enable killing kids.

And I'm simply not in a mood to put things nicely or circumspectly today... as is my usual practice.

no, just the contridictions.  The political ideology of reform jews conflicts not only with the bible, but with some of their stated interests like the support of Israel.  I never understood how these reform jews could support anything israel did, i mean if israel started skinning Pali babies and eating the flesh, the reform jews would be 100 percent behind them, but  in the same token they were against ANYTHING america did to defend itself or its interests. It would leave me spellbound to hear someone be such a friggin hawk when it came to Israel, but at the same time such a dove when it came to America.  I just didn't understand it, and left.

Also their economic ideas are insane. Clearly none of them paid attention to what happened when those ideas were put into place by jews in russia in the 1920s(Sure not all soviets were jews, but let's be serious, they were vastly over represented in the leadership when compared to their actualy percentage of the overall population).

I could not understand how the old testy(as i call it) could say you should give a tithe to the poor(which was really cutting off the corners of your crops back then) and turn that into "you should give your money to the government and let them redistribute it to the poor." I had always thought charity involved free will.

Mainly that is what switched me,.

Well, what's your explanation for why so many women compared to men lean left and support abortion, for example, and Obama, and his health care scheme, etc?

Liberlism relies on the politics of emotion.  They use emotive arguments and statements to illicit a specific, condition response of compassion.

Ask any liberal why they support something and every single time they start talking emotion.  That's why all the facts, figures and truth in the world won't sway them from their position.

For most liberals their political beliefs are very much intertwined with their own self image.  They believe their political support for liberalism shows the world that they are good, caring, decent people.  And conversely the further down that road they go the more firmly convinced they become that those who disagree with their ideas therefore must be evil, narrowminded, hateful people.

Take a look at the abortion debate, for example.  They are told over and over again about a "woman's right to choose" and boy doesn't that sound good?  I mean who could possibly be against somebody being granted self-determination or privacy?  But they never stop to consider that there is more than one life at stake here, more than one human being that this "choice" affects.  It doesn't enter their minds that one persons right to choose doesn't supercede another persons right to live because they have it in their minds that there is only one person involved.

Again, they buy into the emotive argument that made them feel good about themselves and about how enlightened they were, and they can't now reverse themselves and acknolwedge that they were wrong because if they do, that means that their a bad person.

That's why liberals defend their ideology with such fervor even when you can prove to them with all the facts in the universe that they are completely and totally wrong.  Because if they ever do admit they are wrong, they are admitting to themselves that they are a bad person.

It isn't about being "compassionate", it's about feeling like your compassionate and thus a good person.  It isn't about results, it's about how it makes them feel for supporting the "right" causes.  In the end, it's a selfish, short sighted view that harms and even kills millions (don't believe me, check out what a lack of DDT in africa has caused) but that doesn't matter as long as these pimplesticks feel good about themselves.

Sad, but true.

324 Time to prove entitlements can be rolled back. But maybe wait a bit...for the voters to savor what happens when they vote in the irresponsible party. I think a simple lowering of the subsidies to 150-200% of poverty would work. Get rid of medicaid at the same time and hand out healthcare vouchers to those folks - we already pay for them anyways. Increase age for medicare. Get rid of the taxes on medical devices (seriously, taxing innnovation, how dumb.) I'd also include a "global price" requirement where Pharma is required to reveal the prices charge to France, UK, etc. Those should be the baseline we pay for - now, Pharma should realize they need to raise rates for the socialists in Europe and Canada - and lower ours...not allow them to free ride.

325 Stock market will do fine. Its the risk of employment being reduced as firms hire less, fire more, outsource more. Plus cap and trade...

Yea, unemployed people always buy the same amount of products and services from companies that employed ones do.

Go with that.  Bet your money on it.
