Joe Biden...Man Of The People: Don't Be A Smart Ass
— DrewM

I love how Democrats seek to portray themselves as friends of the little guys (or "small people" as the Scandis say) yet they have no trouble to keep their mouths shuts when they don't stick to the script.

Occasionally the mask slips and you see what Democrats really think of the middle class...proles who should shut up and pay up, so they can "spread the wealth around" to the people they really care about.

A small business owner has the audacity to tell Sheriff Joe, he'd like to keep a little more of the money he earns and Biden let's him know what he thinks about that idea.

Just for fun, imagine a Republican officeholder, let alone a sitting VP, told a welfare recipient not to be a smart ass if they asked for me government money. Think that would be something we'd hear a lot about?

On the upside, at least Biden didn't call the guy unpatriotic for wanting to have less of his money confiscated by the government.

Still, someone should tell Joey that lower taxes are a BFD to a lot of people.

Yet again these commies show their eagerness to drain the producers in order to enrich themselves, and to pay off the mud sill of shiftless bums and criminals that makes up their base.

I think we should amend the constitution such that whenever the government passes a tax increase the legislators who passed it, and the executive who signed it, must suffer double the increase.

That said, yeah, this story will get zero play in the media.  I'm sure the NYT and WaPo folks are shaking their heads.  "Why can't Sarah Palin say these kinds of things?  Dammit."

33 Joe Biden displaying his inept douche-ness again for all the world to see.  First confusing the frozen custard shop with an ice cream shop and then pouting and moaning "don't be a smart-ass" after the manager suggests that he should lower taxes.

I guess we should thank Gaia that he didn't call the manager unpatriotic or greedy on the spot, although it probably took Slow Joe a few minutes to think-up the witty "don't be a smart-ass" ripost.  Now if Obama was in that spot, he'd draw back on his many years of class-warfare and either: call the manager racist in code, tell him he was greedy, give him the surreptitious finger, or all three immediately.

49 49 15 If they're really gonna make a switch, that'd involve a lot of moving parts. Hard to get it right. I guess "health reasons" or some ostensibly fire-able offense would have to be the impetus. Then, whichever angle they choose, do they move some time right before the general election or do they shed him before primaries even start? What's the election angle? Do they want the replacement to be there for the debates/campaigns, etc. or as a last-minute "statesman" filling in at a time of need? Who replaces him and how does Joe take it? Obviously, if he's not 100% on board this whole thing collapses. It'd be fascinating to watch, no matter what.

our only recourse was to pepper spray him and call the police. must have been a plant by the rethugs or something. everyone in our circles knows minorities don't have business's they just do crack and get welfare. well it got what it needed a good beating and tasering  at the hands of  OUR UNIONIZED SECURITY FORCES.

As The Hill explains, the bill, sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman, Susan Collins, and Tom Carper, would give the president "emergency authority to shut down private sector or government networks in the event of a cyber attack capable of causing massive damage or loss of life."

The original bill granted the president the authority to "indefinitely" shut down networks, but an amendment to the PCNAA, approved yesterday,

mandates that the president "get Congressional approval after controlling a network for 120 days."

meanwhile in Massachusetts...

while the senate just stripped out the amendment which would prohibit illegals from receiving all state aid, they keep pushing to pass a bill to build a state-owned casino.

They want the casino to raise revenue because they admit we're cash-strapped and running a deficit. But all they do is waste money. This is madness.

106 Yes, it is a BFD. However, not to the people who elected him and really, unlike Republicans (and far too much so for me to think it is coincidental), Democrats ONLY "serve" those who elected them. In truth, this helps Biden with those folks. So, as the msm has shown, it is a nothing, essentially. Now, if it trips 1% or 2% of the independents our way, the same number of "liberals" to independent status, and affirms a similar number of weaker conservatives in their beliefs... Well, it's in the pennies and nickles that wealth, of any nature, is gained, and as always it is one at a time. These things really might be pennies from heaven. But for an msm which doesn't believe in heaven and certainly doesn't want that sort of CHANGE from that "fairy land", there is no hope of coverage. Ha!

How many times was that replayed in the MFM? If anyone thinks the leftard overlords are not getting used to behaving as a protected class, with their own Praetorian Guard, able to rob, rape or stab a peasant at will, you need a cup of strong coffee. Hell, Teddy the Swimmer murdered a woman and served for decades as the "Lion of the Senate." 241 Was $376 the excise tax?

Nope.

Yeah, it's an amusing experience.  My hairdresser, about whom I whined a bit last week (for saying, "Of course you're moving to Utah.  You're so conservative."  when I've never discussed politics with her before) was desperately trying to convince me (herself, really) that it wasn't going to be cheaper to live in Utah.  Now I won't pretend that I've checked all of the items, and I know that gasoline isn't appreciably different (plus we are adding a real heating season), but even a quick glance at housing prices, state/sales/property taxes, and even food prices tells me that it's much cheaper there.  We anticipate spending 1/3rd as much in mortgage costs for a house that will likely be 2 to 3 times larger than our current place.

Now she probably bought her house low as she's been here a long time, but still.  Heck, our friggin' water bills are outrageous!

Hubby is still here.  We head out in a couple of weeks to look for a rental house.  He'll be working there a few weeks over the next couple of months, but probably won't be fully moved in there until late August, at which point I should be there, too (fingers crossed).

I love the weather here in SoCal, but I confess I am really looking forward to fall this year.  And visiting Park City pretty much every weekend.  To eat.  And drink.  ;-)

251 I have to say, though, I am not happy to see what is happening in CA.  I derive no satisfaction from it.  And I don't think Californian's "deserve it".  Yes, many of them are stupid, but the mess in this state is so entrenched that they could all become Reaganites and it would still take several election cycles to fix.

I think the people here - in Southern California, anyway - are nice enough (well, away from Hollywood), just very distracted with the burden of living here, which makes them less neighborly, I guess (but still not the worst I've seen).  I think the agribusiness folks, and that included independent farmers, need to become real conservatives and stop propping up illegal immigration.  I interacted with some of them when I working in an ag school and found them really frustrating to deal with - they were basically conservatives who for their own selfish reasons (and short-sightedness) want amnesty.

Anyway, I hope things turn around.

That's one reason media is more expensive there. This was shoved through to satisfy anti-piracy lobbies (?!?) but is real. So I'll make a guess about "eWaste" taxes without even googling it... Clownifornia will start additionally taxing all purchases of electronic devices to "help pay for green disposal of old electronics." And the tax will never go away. And the tax revenue will go to public pensions, not disposal. Am I right? Anyone want to google "California eWaste tax" to verify? (See Gibbs writing a statement w/o help as one of them.)

I wish Jake Tapper would ask Gibbs (Chomp -Chomp-Chuey Chomp) to define a simple term or word from his briefing.  I live for the day he's asked to define something like GDP.

273 The Precedent doesn't quite understand all this:

“Let me get this straight,” Obama later told senior adviser David Axelrod. “A robot knocked off the Top Hat? Come on, guys. Are you kidding me?"

WTF?

Meanwhile, The NYT is framing Jindal as the villain. It's all his fault that nothing is happening, you see.

276 Also, the Precedent is allowed to play golf, but no one else can have a vacation. Double standards are wonderful:

All good gaffes come to an end. As the Barton episode was starting to fade, the president himself looked to fade away into his favorite form of R&R: golf. Some officials cringed, but decided not to take their concerns to the boss. They knew he would take his lumps -– conservative media ridicules him every time he takes a break from work Â— but were largely unfazed. “Presidents are people Â— theyÂ’re not robots or automatons,” one of the aides said. “They need releases, as well. I think youÂ’re really doing the country a disservice if you say to the president, Â… ‘You canÂ’t take any time off to blow some steam off because we donÂ’t like the optics.Â’ That would be counterproductive.”

Posted by: Miss'80sBaby at June 27, 2010 01:03 PM (Yq+qN)

277 So, between Politico & NYT, everything is everybody elses' fault, & we are too stupid to understand that DOTUS is too great for us. We ought to bow in his presence, & thank our overlords for saving us from stupid governors.

279 "Sheets" Byrd is on his deathbed per Drudge

I'm not seeing it.

Guess everyone is linking it, then.

It's the weekend.  There's little enough going on that some of the rest of us can compete with your diligence.

JPost reporting Israeli buildup in Saudi Arabia, zerohedge was reporting buildups in Azerbaijahn and Georgia, but both reports apparently initially come from arab/persian media, so may well be nothing.  Or may be a buttload of disinformation.

'Nice' Politico piece. Although they did get the headline right-- 'Theater of the absurd'.

Yes, it was absurd to think a community agitating street thug could effectively lead the country.

When we boot him in two years will he and Van Jones go on the lecture circuit together? They should pick up Rev. Wright along the way. Completing the trifecta of fuckery.

So I'll make a guess about "eWaste" taxes without even googling it... Clownifornia will start additionally taxing all purchases of electronic devices to "help pay for green disposal of old electronics." And the tax will never go away. And the tax revenue will go to public pensions, not disposal.

They're trying this (in a modified form) in PA. The plan is to force all electronics manufacturers who sell their products in PA to set up an industry funded account for electronics recycling. My county has an annual electronics recycling program that apparently costs us nothing. Maybe it does but the papers don't mention if it's a money loser. You stay in your vehicle while the prison labor collects your electronics -- so the labor is cheap. And there's plenty of gold and stuff in those boxes.

The whole electronics recycling craze got started about a decade ago when some enviro groups spread fear about lead leaching from CRTs in landfills, something I find of doubtful danger. If leaded glass was such an enormous danger the sale of crystal wine glasses would be prohibited. Close on to the lead hysteria there were "studies" hyping heavy metals in computer circuit boards. Whether they posed any serious health risk was never debated -- enviro goups simply claimed they were dangerous and the MFM reported accordingly. There's gold in them there's circuit boards so recycling it is profitable -- especially when politicians subsidize it.

Screw the electronics recycling -- what am I supposed to do with my three dozen propane bottles that nobody will handle? Or my old, rusty 20 lb. tank? Or my 25 year old defunct dehumidifier filled with Freon-12? Or my 10 year old busted air conditioners? Or my old broken fan or lamp, fer chrissakes?

The answer is:

There's no money to be made from them.

So fuck off and die.

310 I think if Obama wants a chance at reelection, he'll have to dump Joe. The two of them already have a proven track record of disaster that the MFM can't keep totally hidden. If Obama chooses a new VP for 2012, the story can be sold as "Now we have the team to do this right." And the MFM will start the same depraved act they ran with in 2008. May I suggest Alvin Greene as his replacement?

117 And all the homeless criminals to like to live beachside for free in shitty old school buses totally support the measure.

A couple of years ago we took a family vacation to Disneyland, first time there for all of us.  To take a break from the magic kingdom, one day we drove down the coast highway to San Diego.  The beach was lovely, and we wanted to stop, but at every single spot along the way where we COULD stop, the parking lots were full of old beater vehicles and people clearly living in and around their cars.

We didn't stop until we got to SD.  Just didn't feel safe, especially with our car full of kids.
