Something interesting about Frum's actual post there, and about "cocktail party conservatives" in general.

He links to a story about the Aussie's cutting down on welfare funds going buy to liquor. Welfare reform is generally considered a conservative issue, so he gets to say, "Hey, see, I'm a conservative, I'm blogging about reform in welfare. But those crazy radicals that have taken over the GOP...."

Well, congrats Frum, you're against welfare buying booze. You are soooo conservative.

12 Frum has a few more posts there as does noted conservative  Dave Weigel.  Who happened to be a friend of the American slaughtered by Islamo-fascists in Uganda yesterday.

Weigel speaks a great deal about the faith of his lost friend, and by allusion his own.  Sorry for your loss, Dave, but based on your recent performances I have to quote St Francis:

"Preach the gospel constantly and when required use words".

You talk too much, Dave.

Oh no, here he comes.

Wait!  No!  Put me down!

by Dave Weigel

I'm Dave Weigel and a few weeks ago I would have written a different -- longer, probably -- introduction to my guest posts. But I have a happy history with this blog. Back in the summer of 2006 Andrew graciously asked me to help guest blog for him while he took  a week off. This was, to my surprise, a news story. (For some reason people like to write articles about bloggers. It seems rather silly to me. Why not just tweet?)

At the time, I was an assistant editor of Reason magazine. Over the next four years I wrote for a bunch of magazines, joined the Washington Independent as a reporter on what we grandly called "the remaking of the right," joined the Washington Post to cover the same thing, and left the Post after someone maliciously leaked excerpts from e-mails I'd sent to the JournoList e-mail group. As an effort to educate me on how to better handle and cover my subjects, it was a success; as an efforts to boot me out of journalism, it was less successful.

15 Think The Uterine Avenger has conducted a thorough examination of the depths of Frum's conservative soul?

I mean, really, they're not my favorite people, but can you actually see a Maureen Dowd or E.J. Dionne at a Manhattan party, sipping on appletini's Frum just made, and Frum's going: "I'm sorry, I know you'll think me an evil right-winger and all, but I just... cannot.... support... welfare funds going to whiskey."

And a Dowd or Dionne trying to argue that?

23 I looked at Slublog's screen capture.

Why does the drawing of Andi have more hair on top than Andi's picture?

Shouldn't The Atlantic, as a matter of journalistic integrity, have the artwork redone to show Andi's (well-polished?) smooth dome?

wait ......

From maddogg's (nice doggy!) link above to Thomas Sowell at TownHall.com.  Read the whole thing, it's pretty funny stuff:

"Why Republicans join such transparent attempts to rescue the Democrats from the political consequences of their own actions is one of the many unsolved mysteries of human nature in general and the Republican Party in particular." - Thomas Sowell

(I can just hear Sowell laughing as he typed those words.)

I think it is entirely "on topic" with this latest outbreak of putrescence described, that is, Frum showing up at the "Daily Dish".  He wants to pretend to think like a fiscal Republican, but be liked as a "Santa Claus" Democrat.  Sad, pathetic little man.

Did you know he's from Canada?
