Why is it when a Democrat picks a nominee, there is never a concern that the nominee might become a rightie, however when a republican names someone to the court, there is always a 25 percent chance that person becomes a lefty.

Actually, in hindsight that was probably George Bush's greatest accomplishment, getting two guaranteed conservatives on the court whose loyalty isn't in question.
