Thank you Jack M!  An awesome post about an awesome race!  I watched the whole thing this a.m. and will watch it again with my husband tonight.  Ryan Hall, the first American finisher was fourth and set a new American Course record.  I heart Ryan Hall!  Meb Keflezghi (who won the NY Marathon in Nov.) was fifth.  He's an immigrant from Eritrea, came here as a child from a hut with a dirt floor.  His parents instilled in him a great work ethic and when he won NY he said he was living the American dream.  When he was finishing at NY, he had  a singlet on with USA on the front, and he kept pointing to the USA. 

I had a bunch of friends who ran it, 2 of them p.r.'d (which is so hard to do on that course, it's a tough, tough course with some late hills).  The one guy finally got the sub-3 hour marathon monkey off his back, and the one girl ran a 3:07! 

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama decides that all those runners who trained so hard and so long and ran 100 plus mile weeks are hogging all the glory.  I can just see him changing the outcomes of marathons with handicapping systems to make the races "more fair".  People who don't train at all and lounge about eating pizza will be given finisher medals if they walk across the finish line from 100 meters away.  In fact, he'll probably declare the Boston Marathon's qualification standards "unjust" and by executive order declare it open to anyone who can lace up a pair of running shoes.
