Gitmo for the sake of Gitmo isn't the point, the point is we cannot effectively combat terrorism when we tie our hands to score crappy political points. Obama and the Democrats will simply not be able to convince anyone their moral "superiority" is unassailable when we are burying the victims of the next attack.

Incidentally (or maybe not so incidental), there is a pretty big emotional "punch" involved with targeting Times Square.
Most of us do not dismiss these other attacks (I sure as hell don't, I live near Hood and we felt it here, badly). Whether we like it or not, this latest thing is just frankly going to snap more attention from the rest of the country.
I think the Christmas bomber got close to that.
Anyway, point being I don't think Obama has a choice now, he's going to have to step it up or give up on 2012.

I don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist, but I have it on good authority that Obama called a couple of friends he made back in the day when he was rooming with a couple of Pakistani's while he was attending Columbia U. and skipped out for a semester to visit Pakistan and had them try (since they failed) to blow up Times Square to divert attention from the disaster he has created in the Gulf.

That's the genius of this show. They make you constantly see both sides and think about the other shoe. The mental picture I got from reading about what we did to KSM was probably more hardcore than what happened to Dana Walsh. If he broke in 2 minutes, then DB Sweeney was doing it wrong.
