— Open Blogger No, really, I had a dream this morning where I was part of one of two competing groups trying to set policies and priorities for the US Government. Our solution, which we all thought was fair and clever, was to race four different colored mice around a semi-oval race track. They represented four major areas of spending -- something like defense, discretionary spending, entitlements, and foreign policy -- and the order in which they finished determined the relative priority and spending for each.
I chuckled when I woke up, but then read this article and wondered if my approach might not work better:
In a lame-duck congressional session jam-packed with competing priorities critical to Democrats and their political base, President Barack Obama is putting much of his political muscle into an all-out push to ratify an arms control treaty with Russia that has no significant domestic constituency and has barely been part of the political debate over the past year. Some, particular advocates of causes struggling for oxygen in the dwindling days of the lame-duck Congress such as those seeking repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy banning openly gay members of the military, are asking about the START treaty: What’s the hurry?
Someone many years ago described DC as "forty square miles surrounded by reality." Having lived there myself, I can attest to the accuracy of that quote. ..fritz..

It doesn't require much intelligence to know what needs to be done, but apparently even basic, commonsense action is beyond the ability of those infected with the Washington Disease.
The Democrats are simply Pavlovian -- they salivate when someone waves money (real or imagined) in front of them. What really pisses me off are the Republican goons who can talk a good game, but cave in like a sand wall the instant they actually have to step up to the plate and produce results.
Do we have to endure another two years of high-minded ginks like Boehner and DeMint posturing and pontificating while the Demo-rats keep stealing the cheese?
Yeah, we do.

I never read the book, but I appreciated Douglas Adams' explanation of the number 42. "I may be a sorry case, but I don't write jokes in base 13."
One theory is the saying "All sixes and sevens." When you're learning your multiplication tables, everything up to 6 x 7 = 42 is relatively simple.
Jewish mystics claim God has a 42 letter name that cannot be pronounced. The easier one is the Monogrammata pronounced simply Hey.
According to the Jewish mystics, Hey represents the divine breath or revelation. On the fifth day, the LORD created Light, and this corresponds to the letter Hey. Since the numerical value of Hey is five, this corresponds on a physical level to the five fingers, the five senses, and the five dimensions. On a spiritual level it corresponds to the five levels of soul:
Nefesh - instincts Ruach - emotions Neshamah - mind Chayah - bridge to transcendence Yechidah - oneness
"By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth" (Psalm 33:6). In the Talmud (Menachot 29b) it is said that the "breath of His mouth" refers to the sound of the letter Hey - the outbreathing of Spirit.

You actualy bring up an interesting point.
At EVERY decision point, Obama et al consistantly do the wrong thing... EVERY time it seems.
Now, even someone not knowing what they were doing would randomly get SOME things right... but he seems to always make the choice which hurts America.
Now, random chance in a binaray decision set means you are correct 1/2 of the time...
Ergo, to be wrong all the time? There has to be some underlieing reason... Random stupidity does not explain his pattern of choice.
Evil? Some Philosophy? I don't know... but no one can be this consistantly wrong from pure stupidity.

Obama was sitting around one day, getting high with his fellow travelers, and they all started to wax poetic about how wonderful the world would be if only we could get rid of nuclear weapons. Unlike most people who entertained such stupidity in their early twenties, Obama never grew up, so we have this brilliant diplomatic push instead of substance.

"Jobs Bill?" You going Democrat now?
There is no such thing as a "jobs bill." The only thing the gubmint can do to help create jobs is to take themselves out of the picture as much as possible.
Less regulation, less taxation, less debt. And no more "free trade" agreements with countries that dump their shit on us and restrict the sale of U.S.-made goods.
When government unemployment goes up, real unemployment will decline.

I watched a documentary on the Barnes collection of post-impressionist art last night, and it was an interesting look at the modern Democratic party. The collector, Albert C. Barnes, was a Gatsby-like figure. He came from nowhere and amassed a fortune by inventing a VD vaccine administered as eye drops to infants. Then he traveled to Europe and collected Cezannes, Picassos, Van Goghs, Seurats, etc. and he had an amazing eye. Nobody knew what those paintings would be worth one day, and he liked in Philadelphia, what he once called an "intellectual slum." Barnes was rightfully proud of his collection, and he showed it off to the public, only to universal critical panning.
This outrage embittered Barnes toward the East Coast art world and society for life. He particularly loathed Walter Annenberg, owner of the Philadelphia Enquirer and son of a bootlegger / racketeer who paid off politicians to give his son a phony ambassadorship, so he could swan around like some English lord. Annenberg made it his mission in life to destroy the Barnes collection, because it was such a painful reminder of his own intellectual and aesthetic shortcomings. This went for much of high society in Philadelphia, who were outraged that Barnes ran a school instead of a museum and later left his estate to Black state school Lincoln College.
Once Lincoln got on the board of directors, you had some characters with a limited imagination but a burning desire to ingratiate themselves into polite society who sold both their school (despite protests from the NAACP) and the Barnes Foundation down the river. They helped the Pew Foundation make their name, becoming a mutibillion dollar public charity by acquiring the Barnes collection and being able to claim that on their taxes, and helped Annenberg achieve his lifelong dream of shredding the Barnes will. By the way, when Annenberg died, after all his talk of making art accessible and his love for his Philadelphia, donated his entire collection to MoMA with the stipulation that it can never be sold, loaned or otherwise broken up. But there are some interesting cameos by Gov. Ed Rendell and DA Mike Kelly.
Anyway, Barnes was an admirer of FDR, and so maybe he ultimately could appreciate how they destroyed his legacy. They stacked the board just like FDR did the Supreme Court. Gotta love transformation, and the taxpayers there are so happy to pay for it.

5. Congress creating law to over ride Obama's drilling stop.

Let's see, in DC-Speak, shoveling money into the black hole of entitlements are "investments", and not taking more from productive taxpayers is a "handout"
The lefties love to trot out the myth that Clinton's corporate tax hikes in 1993 resulted in the 90s boom and the surplus. History re-writing is good work if you can get it. There was sluggish growth and a deficit until 1996, when the GOP Congress steered Clinton to the center with a revision back down of the corporate tax rate and reductions in the growth of entitlement spending. The surplus as it was recorded was the result of massive inflows on capital gains taxes from the dot-com boom. Add to that the inflow resulting from the Social Security fund forking over cash in exchange for T-Bills.

Hmmm... I just had a thought...
One of our major problems is the way Federal Courts are interpreting the Consittution, especialy the Commerce Clause, and the 10th...
Now, what would happen if the States, passed bills saying that the ONLY Fed Court with the power to over ride their State Supreme Court, could be the US Federal Supreme Court?
It seems that Constitutionaly, that would fly...
Then, on things like Gun Control, you run it through you State Courts to get the correct interpretation (like with the Sharia law thing going on now)... which would FORCE the Supremes to hear the case, and over ride the State Supreme Court...

If any state has a secret Chinese missile base within its borders, CT would seem likely.
In my many years living in SoCal, I saw countless missile-launch plumes (from Vandenberg) and even more contrails. The one that's causing controversy looked like a missile launch to me, and every "explanation" of why it was a commercial aircraft/weather balloon/optical illusion strikes me as pretty convoluted.
So far as I know, no one who actually has any direct experience with missile launches has stood up and asserted that this wasn't a missile.

You: Now give me two dollars
Lefty: Why?
You: I want to buy a beer for my buddy
Lefty: Why don't you buy it for him, he's your buddy
You: He doesn't have enough, and you do
Lefty: OK, here's two more dollars
You: Now, give me five dollars
Lefty: Can't you just take three dollars like you did before?
You: Sorry, I can't afford to pay you two dollars

That was Obama's claim to fame getting him elected to Illinois Senate, the Altgeld Gardens "pinstripe fraud" -- legal crime via attorneys involved directing affairs, taking all the appropriated tax funds to rejuvenate the worst of the worst slums in Chicago (of course for the elderly) AND STRIPPING THE PROPERTY ITSELF of all valuable copper piping, wiring, etc. leaving the slum worse by far than before "helping" his corrupt system friends who made out like the pirating organized criminals that they are.

Ironically, these collectors get massive tax breaks because their art becomes more "accessible" to the public when it is placed in a museum. Then it may be displayed as often as Haley's comet, and the public will spend $20 admission and load up on souvenirs in the gift shop. But most people don't care what the show is. They really come to look at currency. It's just another kind of money.

how many of you would have believed it 5 years ago, heck some probably don't even believe it right now, that every major financial institution would be insolvent? How many would believe AIG's stock would be trading from 60+ to almost going on the pink sheets at around a buck? how many would believe a company like bear stearns would go under after being in business for 100 years. how many would believe the government would have a 180B credit facility to AIG, how many would have believed that the fed would loan trilions to foreign banks and domestic corporations due to the freezing up of capital? how many would believe gold would be at 1,400 and silver nearly 30 an ounce.
you see, many things within the context of "normalcy" don't make sense.

Even veteran rocket types confuse jet airliner contrails for missile launches. At least they admit it, unlike some clangingly obtuse fuckknobs who are presented with mountains of evidence that a jet passes over that same area every day creating the same contrail as the "missile launch", and then insist it's a sooper-sekrit rocket no one will admit to but which for some reason was done in full view of LA, yet none of the five million inhabitants there saw it, except this one news crew in a helicopter which was in such a position as to mistake an aircraft contrail for a missile launch.
Posted by: Waterhouse at December 04, 2010 08:49 AM (oRFiV)
Not true. While in both cases the MFM stay clearly behind both of them the public no longer believes the MFM. The MFM shot their wad in the 2008 election.
This can be seen in Obama's dropping polls. You can take those polls because they are ran by the MFM and drop them by 10 points. if the 2012 election were held today Obama would get the hardcore yellow dog Democrats and nothing else.
Assuming the Republicans do not nominate another RINO idiot who's delight has been to stick his thumb in the base's eye, OBama would lose nearly every State in the union. He would win those States which are under the sole control of those same yellow dogs only.
All this shit has stuck to him and it is not just about the economy as the MFM wants you to believe.

I do, as well as every TV news show. They repeated the Dem talking points endlessly.
They still repeat the big lie that it was the Republicans and Newt who "shutdown the government" even after the memo was leaked that showed Clinton and the Dems had it all planned out BEFORE the budget had even been written.
They still repeat the big lie that it was Clinton "veering to the center" that got welfare reformed. Even after the record shows clearly he vetoed it twice before being forced to sign it the third time.

Obama couldn't dance Gollywogg's Cakewalk to either entertain, or to save a soul or simply a buck that stopped at his desk. True to MSM form, Newsweek monumentalizes this fraud into all the fabricated PC grandeur, from Obama stepping on everyone's food during the Cakewalk because it's beneath his EO dignity to be a responsible chief executive, into managing the universe as "The Lord who dances on the dais".

For many years, I have thought the best way to do things would be to attach another page to the 1040, allowing each taxpayer to apportion his/her taxes to various programs. Hey, it's my money and why the hell shouldn't I say what they spend it on? That would be real democracy in action and, win-win, the people who don't pay any taxes would not have a say.

old news, but Susan Collins has announced she will vote to end DADT...
once all the Bush tax cuts have been made permanent first.
I think the RINOs now realized their power lies in actually standing firm to get what the party wants first, and with the clock ticking it buys them political cover when they make shit votes next year.
It is funny to watch the Democrats twist in the wind- you can really tell they don't have the typical NE Republican votes for what they want and it is freaking them out (ex- Bob Menendez yesterday)
