Woot! New thread,
So did anyone else watch the Hilary Rosen interview on CNN? She claimed it wasn't a "personal attack" against Ann Romney. I'm confused, if it wasn't a personal attack, and it wasn't an attack against stay at home moms what was it? Random blather? In any case, they immediately launched into the "he's rich, you can't elect him" speal after that.

TNT, a cable television channel whose slogan is “We Know Drama,” added a little — actually a lot — of drama to an unassuming town square in Belgium as part of an advertisement. It’s an understatement to say spectators were surprised.
It all started with this: a big red button in the middle of the square with the instruction “push to add drama.”

She tripped all over that. Got turned around when the Blitz asked her about critiquing Moochelle. Said it was OK when she was talking about politics, but not about the family. Except what she did was about the family! Paradox!

Mandatory sacrifice is the only one that the state recognizes. That voluntary stuff you do for your family, neighbors, and church is not "real" charity because you have some level of control. "True" charity occurs only when a faceless unaccountable bureaucrat can direct the results.

sure, but how will you pay for it?
after you take all the money from the rich what then?
will then doctors, nurses, all the people from the doctor to the janitor, to those that turn on the lights to light the facility? be expected to work for free?
how will those doctors afford the gas to get to your body?
think about it. just as a nanny to takw care of the kids you can't stay home with are expecting money to feed their children, so do others that provide services to you.

Well, naturally. Giving something up for the benefit of a loved isn't a sacrifice, you see. In order to be a sacrifice, you have to give something up in exchange for something you don't care about.

So, while it's possible he wrote those things (he's been known to be vile in the past after all), it's also possible the letter is simply "disgruntled ex-employee." I choose to reserve judgement.

Short answer: No.
Money buys you a better house, car, food, education, and just about everything else. Why should health care be different?
I wouldn't suggest that people be left to die if they're too poor for insurance or expensive health care, but neither should they expect the same level of care as someone paying more for it.

OT but it's about that lying weasel Buffet (he of the "Buffet Tax" increase named just for him doncha know).
In today's Crains Chgo Business:
"(Crain's) — Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has launched a new venture to finance low-income housing projects, starting with a nearly $29 million center for seniors on Medicaid in the south suburbs....Affordable Housing is a subsidiary of Mr. Buffett's holding company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which had total revenue of $143.7 billion in 2011....
... the new Berkshire venture is expected to invest in projects by buying up federal tax credits.... The buyers...use the tax credits to lower their tax bills."
Commenters on the story in Crains note that the "affordable housing" aspect is just PR window dressing for these projects. The entire point is to mine the tax code and reduce Berkshire's tax burden.
Sorry for no link but the blog doesn't like me when I do that. It's in today's Crains.

As far to what degree the Devil is chained today, Thomas Carlyle put it best -
All the Millenniums I ever heard of heretofore were to be preceded by a "chaining of the Devil for a thousand years," — laying him up, tied neck and heels, and put beyond stirring, as the preliminary. You too have been taking preliminary steps, with more and more ardour, for a thirty years back; but they seem to be all in the opposite direction: a cutting asunder of straps and ties, wherever you might find them; pretty indiscriminate of choice in the matter: a general repeal of old regulations, fetters, and restrictions (restrictions on the Devil originally, I believe, for most part, but now fallen slack and ineffectual), which had become unpleasant to many of you, — with loud shouting from the multitude, as strap after strap was cut, "Glory, glory, another strap is gone!"— this, I think, has mainly been the sublime legislative industry of Parliament since it became "Reform Parliament;" victoriously successful, and thought sublime and beneficent by some.
So that now hardly any limb of the Devil has a thrum, or tatter of rope or leather left upon it...
