For a very plausible scenario for how this could work, I highly recommend the book The Last Centurion by John Ringo. Best work of fiction I've read in a long time, due in no small part to the way it shows how the Libs WILL screw us over, and then bring about their own doom in turn. It's the first story to make me hope for a pandemic to really happen.

114 Never really thought Hannity was that clever. He always seems the lesser of the conservative pundits compared with Mark Levin and Rush. I am all for patriotism and I really hate to say this but he is almost hokey about it at times.
Conservatives have a few choices. Not a huge Hannity fan here, but he has a loyal following, and he serves them well. Same can be said for Levin and Rush. Beck too. If they all sounded the same, life would be boring. JMO.

I read Last Centurion first and really liked it so started getting some of his other stuff but...Ghost kinda crossed the line for me anyway...was more pervert as opposed to being tough with the ladies cuz they like it that way kinda thing, ya know? Plus, Hannity makes no bones about his ideology. Up front does not equal bullying. Explicitly and factually, even if redundantly, correcting his opponent is not bullying, either. The Liberals always find the need to hide their ideology -- at least in public. When pitching their beliefs, they couch their progressivism in moderate-speak and shift right. Hannity is transparently partisan and arguably more reflective of the nation's core than his counterparts.
Whether one likes his style or not, Hannity has a strong audience and a good message that resonates. Turns out he has been one of the tips of the spear against the burgeoning federal socialism. That's really all you need to know to gauge the import of the trumped up (at this point) hit pieces coming from an increasingly panicked Left.

Last time I saw Mike? He was divorced (duh) and had a pre-teen son. I took our 5 year-old to the pediatrician to have a final check up and pick up records prior to our move to Chi-Hell-Town. There was Mike and his poor kid sitting in the waiting room. I said, "Hi, Mike." He glared at me and wouldn't speak. His poor son. I've ofter wondered how he turned out.

#178, Ghost was published in 2005, Last Centurion in 2008. You really want to read his two best? A Hymn Before Battle and Gust Front. Both actually pre-9/11. He turned the third of that set, When the Devil Dances in early because he just stopped writing after the attack. He did columns for the New York Daily News instead, some of which are still visible on the old web site.

Ringo writes what he writes. I remember when Ghost came out, I at one point asked John how many pages I needed to skip to get to the violence. Up until the last couple books in the series, that's how I felt.
Read Hymn and Gust Front. They're good, and a lot of fun.

I've read and enjoyed all of Ringo's stuff so far, though I too skip some parts to get to teh killin.
Right now I'm enjoying Tom Kratman. I can't recommend "Caliphate" and "State of Disobedience" highly enough. "State of disobedience" should give you "goose bumps" if you are an American with a pulse.
