Lenny Clarke: I Predict a "Good Win"
— Ace

Figured I'd land a short interview. The comedian Lenny Clarke, elder statesman of Boston comedy, has been supporting Brown hard, talking him up on talk radio all over the place.

Thirty second interview. He's been conservative-leaning for ten years, and is supporting Brown partly because he's actually a personal friend, but mostly (I'm guessing here) because Martha Coakley is an entitled bitch. Really, that's my own guess. He said nothing of the sort.

He predicts a "good win" but refuses to jinx it with a number.

5 Go Brown!  Shove it up their 'entitled asses'.

6 Brown needs to use this victory speech (if he wins of course).

I'd elect him king tomorrow.

7 Even Chrissy isn't buying the vote fraud line. No vote fraud happens in Mass if the Dems don't want it to.

8 That Irish bookie who paid off on pro-Brown bets a day early (yesterday) has Brown at 20-1 for President in '12.

Anyone but me want a piece of that action?

10 BTW - I'll buy a bumpersticker from the 1st person who comes out with IWTDMBII next to a AofS logo. Tell the art department to get going on this. I want it on my desk by 8AM tomorrow...

13 Barnacle's right here. In Mass this win is more about the unions bailing on Coakley and the Dems than the tea party.

I gotta say...the high turnout is now making me think 'change' is in the air.

I mean, think about it. High turnout = motivation. What's motivating Massachusetts voters in a special election in the middle of January?

I kinda find it hard to believe an extraordinary number of people are motivated to make sure Republican Scott Brown doesn't win. And they as heck aren't motivated to vote for Martha Coakley, nor for Obama's agenda, nor for ObamaCare.

So for the first time I'm beginning to become slightly optimistic about Scott's chances.

There were quite a few union-tradesmen calling in the shows today saying they're voting for Scott and so are all their union buddies. That's a significant indicator, in my opinion.

18 BTW....to any 2012 Presidential candidates out there....
The Teamsters endorsed Ronald Reagan in 1980.
There is no reason a Republican candidate couldn't use the "Cadillac Tax" to peel off some major union endorsements. Especially with all of them being pissed off at the SEIU.

19 Even with a win tonight the battle will nit be over.  We need to fight the dems and bad repubs forever.

20 Lenny probably supported Brown just because he was a Republican running for Teddy Chivas' seat.

This IS a guy who once ran for mayor of Boston with the campaign slogan "Fuck the Kennedys! Vote for Lenny!"

You Sexy Thing by the Hot Chocolates seems appropriate.

I just had "Today" by Smashing Pumpkins come on the playlist, so that sounds appropriate.

"Today is the greatest... day I've ever known..."

25 Any win == "Good win"; in fact, even a small loss is something of a win.

As far as "...but mostly (I'm guessing here) because Martha Coakley is an entitled bitch," that's an excellent working theory. Let's put that on the list for peer review.

26 Lenny was on sports radio WEEI this morning talking about the Brown win.  Tells a great story on how he came to know Scott many years ago.  Lenny has always struggled with his weight, was in the midst of working out hard and decided to do a sprint triathlon in Sudbury MA (a beautiful person town north of Boston).  Lenny shows up in a ripped t-shirt and beat-up bike.  The "elite" racers are all over him as not being one of them.  A guy comes up to Lenny and thanks him for coming to the race and nevermind about anyone else.  That guy was Scott Brown.  Lenny goes on to say that he kicked a number of those "elite" runners arses in the race due to his great swim.  I have heard many similar Scott Brown stories.
