— Ace Massa says his alleged groping consisted of "tickling him until he couldn't breathe."
Okay, Beck is now challenging Massa on his story -- so he has either called an audible, or always intended to blindside him, but hid that from him so he'd come on the air.
Now Massa's Giving Us Civics Lessons: He's instructing Beck to stop calling fellow Americans "names," like "socialists."
I have a feeling Beck is about to jump ugly on him.
This guy has not provided any evidence or even specifics about corruption, and mostly just spun his decade-long dick-spree as "tickling" or some holistic form of cancer treatment.
Nope: Beck just re-asks the old questions and allows Massa to say there was nothing sexual in his group tickling activities, or "tickle-bangs."
Oh, there's some "banter" in text messages.
Apologizing to the American People: Beck is now apologizing to his audience for wasting their time, rebuking the evasive, shifty deranged pervert Massa for spending an hour saying nothing except "It's a Naval tradition to have tickle parties" and Rahm hurt his feelings very, very much.
You Know... Beck could have improved his credibility -- and provided entertaining TV -- if he had switched midway through to a hostile interrogation of Massa, instead of allowing him to blather vaguely that he made some "mistakes" which he takes ownership of but which also weren't really mistakes, it's just that people took his tickle-parties the wrong way.

I don't watch his show. I don't have the time to waste. However I don't read malkin or coulter. I feel as though the idea in this country is to get yourself in a good position so you can grow the business and make more and more money. whether you are a republican or a democrat. Beck is doing it. "pay 6 bucks to see him while he is on the radio, using 6 cameras." or "come to this theater to see him give a show" or "buy this book". The guy since he jumped ship at CNN has developed an entire media company, growing by leaps and bounds. That might not be a good thing. Republican or democrat or journalist...these people become almost cult figures, their followers wait on their every breathe and decide what they, the follower should think, based on what the cult leader says. This is how BO got elected. No one in this country, no one thinks things out any more.

Beck fucked this interview up from about five minutes in.
He should have grilled him on switching his party affiliation and every vote he made while in office the moment it became apparent this was going nowhere.
There's a light to be brought to light by simply examining his actions and records and dissecting his votes and motivations.
Inside of three minutes you could force him to answer relevant questions and/or walk out without comments.
Instead, Beck tried to coax something out of him that would take more than a tickle party to get at...Beck got worked, but at least he made the call. It was a waste of time, alright.

No, it was real reporting that uncovered a lot of horrible things. It also led to a lot of horrible fall out but it was a major story whose reverberations are still felt today. Geraldo's been drinking off that for decades but it was legitimate stuff.

That's an odd thing to say, considering in post 149 you say you don't read Coulter or Malkin. If your definition of a "major" story is one that the MSM runs with, then no one on the right ever will, unless they have a TV audience to push the story. But Malkin has been out in front of a lot of stories that would be big is the villain was conservative - e.g. the Kevin Jennings crap, all the faked "hate crimes", the poor family in Maryland that was used as the poster child for S-Chip, that was in fact quite wealthy but also irresponsible. The list goes on and on.

Exactly. Beck should have picked just a few things that he wanted answers to, and worked those. He clearly wanted to know about political arm-twisting, for example. He should have had Jarrett or someone write up questions with him and also be there to exploit any openings Massa gave. Beck just is not trained for that. Wasted opportunity.

It's not a stupid statement at all. Beck provided the guy with a platform for his apology. He allowed the guy to take ownership of the behavior and to talk about his bizarre living situation. He allowed him to show his cancer xray. Those were all sort of favors from Beck. Again I reiterate that Beck did not want anything controversial said on the show. It could be that Beck felt bad for the guy and was willing to give him a platform to say the things he was forced to say to get this out of the spotlight as fast as possible. Maybe this wasn't a Beck political show but a beck, real live human being show.
But heck, I'm sort of happy to know that they aren't as stupid as I thought they were. They are so busy securing money for their campaigns, all day, every day, that they don't have time for silly things like reading bills and doing research in the people's interest. I breathed a sigh of relief learning this. (JK)

I can't bnelieve how many people are saying Massa got the better of this. He looked like the weasel that we already knew he was - he didn't rehabilitate himself or "own" anybody. Beck called him on being a liar and on weaseling out of his promise to give us something of substance. Beck didn't get what he wanted but Massa's in no better shape for it and Beck wasn't kissing his ass.
The idea that this went down like Beck wanted is even more of a stretch. I'm not Beck's biggest fan but this sounds like hating on him more than calling it like you see it. We all watched the same show, ffs.
Props to Curious for basically Geraldo-jacking the thead, BTW. Way to go, contrarian - I bought into it too.
Posted by: societyis2blame at March 09, 2010 03:04 PM (rPDD/)
We did all watch it. If you are a regular Beck watcher, someone who watched him on CNN too, you know Beck is more than just this recent television show. He, is a good person and assumes that others are good people. That always gets him into trouble. Beck kept referring to his conversations with Massa on the phone and during the breaks. It seems to me that massa said one thing when the cameras weren't rolling and another thing when they were rolling. I think Beck ultimately decided to let him get out all his mea culpa stuff and to move on. I don't think Beck was looking for anything in particular. I don't think he promised anything. I think he made it real clear that he was having the guy on and he would see how it went. It is possible that Beck saw the human being there and what a mess the human being was and looked over at the wife and kids and decided not to push the envelope. I think when he analyzes the interview and discusses it with his audience that a lot of good may come from this interview. A friend of mine, in the business has suggested that he do another show for the repeat and examine what went on in the live broadcast, what he was thinking and why. That is a pretty good idea.

Too much redundancy and overarching, generic philosophy of "reform." Sure, Beck noted this and kept interjecting to try and force an answer from Massa while stating "I don't really know this guy or necessarily believe him but you viewers can decide for yourself what's what," but Beck just did not walk the subject through the evidence. At all.
Greta Van Sustern's approach is needed here, and this is where Beck failed. He left too open a canvas for Massa and Massa really didn't know where to start or didn't really want to start because he couldn't provide enough prosecutable evidence of direct corruption other than a "wink and a nod" typical of Congressional whipping. Either way, Beck should have been able to tease that much out of him.
I mean, how about how many times did Emmanuel approach you? What was the specific carrot? What was the specific stick? What technologies did Rahmbo use and are there records of those communications? Was it just Rahmbo, or were there representatives of his involved? How about Obama directly? Or the kitchen cabinet members? Pelosi... how was she involved? How many times? If you can't recall off the top of your head, would you be willing to provide logs to Congressional investigators or the press? Would you testify to forms of intimidation in court should charges of corruption actually transpire? Have you or your family been threatened personally either before the revelations of your "indiscretions" or since coming out against the political machine? If so, how often and in what specific manner? And so on...
As it stands, Beck got nothing new and I'm still somewhat inclined to think that Massa still has information to provide but is either reticent to reveal it or isn't sure how to reveal it or where to begin. Or he's got nuthin' other than the Rahmbo shower scene (which I find wholly credible despite lack of video) and a general beef with machine politics which he should have been prepared for already. I'm not sure Beck gave us anything from that hour.
Again, missed opportunity all around.

that's odd. calling it my "personal problem". Some one suggested that they should have a television program in lieu of Geraldo. My answer is, I believe that they should not have any television program and if anyone deserves to have said television program it would be Monica Crowley. PHD or Lis Wiehl, law professor or even kimberly, the other lawyer or Laura Ingraham. there are many in line at fox before they would even get to malkin and coulter. In all honesty, if you guys are planning to take away Geraldo's show then give Charlie Gasparino a show. Now that would be one interesting program. I don't read malkin or coulter and I ignore Geraldo. I'm new to this internet interaction as this is the first blog I've posted on and I found it by accident. But I did live through the cleansing over at that Hot Air site and the disingenuousness of the cleansing, which I saw through your eyes. No, you are entitled to your opinions and I to mine. Sadly on the internet you don't see a person. You don't know their motivations. You essentially don't know what they know or what they can't say on a public message board. Generally I'm not so dogmatic about stuff, I usually let it go but it is wholly frightening to me to witness how some of these blog posters are like followers having a religious experience. Sometimes I think this stops people from thinking on their own. As far a hot air goes. I didn't even know it existed until it was mentioned here. I did however see people's feeling were hurt when their posts were deleted and their comments attacked. Many came to this blog. When I finally figured out where the green room was and what it was along came the announcement of the blog being bought. it does not take a rhodes scholar to figure out, based on reading this blog, what went on over there. It makes you wonder. Maybe in order to have your blog bought you have to control what people say on it to make it palatable. I'm not sure of any of this stuff but I really did feel bad for the upset posters who came here.

I knew Massa was a sleazeball when I saw a youtube video of him saying he was going to vote for Healthcare knowing his constituents did'nt want it. The reason he voted no on Health care was that there was no public option, and Beck stated that.
That said, I think Beck could have been tougher on him, but Beck also made it very clear,he did not know what Massa was going to say or even if Massa would show up for the show. I think Massa showed himself to be the lying SOS that he is.
I remember Beck giving slome sleazy SEIU lawyer a face full of shit on his show, and I do believe he threw that guy off his set. SoI think what happenend here is Beck was really hoping Massa would give up the goods.
I also think someone got to him,(Massa) and that's why why he clammed up.
I think Michelle Malkin also made a good point when she told Beck she thought Massa would just lay low for a while and then run again. Look at Spitzer, is'nt he talking about doing that?

I want to clarify this cause sometimes what your are thinking in your head doesn't make it to the page. Larry was prepared cause he definitely watched the Beck interview. The comment was more about Larry than about Beck. Didn't want anyone to think that I thought Beck was unprepared.

and when Massa was promoted on FNC the rest of the corrupt gang understood what was going to be said and paid Massa off.
Isn't that a pretty good explanation for this behavior? Beck's hyperbole is annoying, and Massa is just a slimey weasel, but also he knows a lot about the deals going on behind closed doors to secure votes. He was probably offered something.
