— Ace Eh, Eric Boehlert is required to whine about "conservative bias" in a press that's clearly liberal. This in turn requires him to say stupid shit -- even more stupid shit than he says in his free time.
His latest whine is that the media is claiming Democrats are alarmed by Obama's decision to fully support the Hamas-endorsed Victory Mosque. See, he claims that an ABCNews piece contains no direct quotes from Democrats about this.
More annoying though, is Klein's repeated proclamation as fact that Democrats are upset with Obama about the mosque issue (they're "grumbling"; it was "an unwelcome distraction"), even though Klein doesn't bother to quote one Democrat, either on or off the record, in his entire piece expressing that sentiment. Not one.
Democrats can't grouse off the record? Really? About their party's nominal leader?
But as stupid as that all is, if he'd been following this story at all, instead of dodging it as thoughtcrime, then he would have found that Democrats have in fact complained of Obama's decision, by name, and on the record.
And Democrats — at least those who were willing to comment — could barely contain their frustration over Obama’s remarks, saying he had potentially placed every one of their candidates in the middle of the debate by giving GOP candidates a chance to ask them point-blank: Do you agree with Obama on the mosque? That could be particularly damaging to moderate Democrats in conservative-leaning districts, already 2010’s most vulnerable contenders.
“I would prefer the president be a little more of a politician and a little less of a college professor,” former Rep. Martin Frost (D-Texas), who once ran the House Democratic campaign arm, wrote in POLITICO’s Arena. “While a defensible position, it will not play well in the parts of the country where Democrats need the most help.”
But for Eric Boehlert, reporting this stuff as serving Democrats want it reported -- on background -- constitutes "conservative bias" in a press just determined to make bad stuff up about Obama.
George Soros pays him to write idiotic crap like this. At least it's George Soros paying him and not our tax dollars and our Justice Department.

This will be the biggest domestic target for those with Islamophobia.
The first “crazy” to “procure” a plane (or other large movable object) will be heading for Manhattan with one target in mind.
Mayor Bloomberg should consider that NYC will spend more money defending the “Victory Mosque” than it currently does protecting the kleptocrats over at the UN.

It's like they promised a cold fusion car that would revolutionize our country. Finally people believed, they got funding and the car is rolling off the line ... but of course it doesn't work, and people ain't buying the hype anymore. Now, like Lucy, they have some explainin' to do.
It would be comical, except for the tragedy of it.

Moderate Democrats? Rotflmao.. boy, what a joke that is - there is no such thing as a moderate democrat. The only time democrats vote against the party line on anything is when their votes won't really count toward the final outcome. If it matters and the vote is needed they'll vote strict party line every single time without fail, no matter how much of a disaster the bill in question might be.
I'd love to see the MSM stop pushing this myth called the moderate democrat. I believe bigfoot sightings have more credibility overall.

Tattoo, see, this is what the Saudis faced when the application arrived to build a Christian church anywhere in the kingdom. Being a poor country they can't afford the extra expense.

It was bought in 2006 by Sharif El-Gamal, connected through relatives to the Arab League, former waiter and now CEO of SoHo Properties. The land was sold for $4.6 million, and ConEd owns half of it. That's why it's important that a Republican wins the NY state Governor's race.

That's the message the government is reinforcing. "We won't take you people seriously until you start sawing off heads and blowing up buildings." But they will use that as an opportunity to establish martial law, if that ever comes to pass. Because they don't give a fuck about you. They want your money and everything Americans have worked hard to build here throughout the years.

I am having a hard time following this one especially cause there are no links - yes, I know, we don't want to punch down and throw them traffic, but it seems like Boehlert is saying, hey, great journalism, you are saying that Dems are grousing but don't actually quote any Dems grousing.
Which sounds like a valid criticism. But without pointers to the actual articles, hard to tell. Ace, you go on to say that he is saying "background" is not valid for reporting. Which is an entirely different question/answer.

So, make them own this. An overwhelming majority of the country hates this mosque. Any sane person can see what it symbolizes. Every Democrat up for reelection should have to go on the record about the 911 Victory Mosque. It's going to get ugly, too. They have bus campaigns in NY planned, commercials that will show you gruesome footage you never saw before. If you thought the Vietnam war was bad, it will be a barrage of bad PR for the Dems.

Running Man - on my second cup thanks.
Grey box 1 - excerpt from Boehlert criticizing Klein for no quotes. Grey box 2 - an excerpt from an entirely different article - not by Klein - where a named Democrat grouses.
Not included: link to Boehlert's article, or to the original Klein article (not sure which Klein, again, no links to sourcing.)
It may just be that Boehlert's criticism is on target - whenever some journalist writes some "many say" article that means they probably made it up. But hard to tell here. If Klein was writing a column to the choir that already knew all the component parts of the story, that's one thing. But if he (she? What Klein?) was writing straight news (as if) providing some actual evidence of what you are reporting as occurring would be a good thing. Without a link to that article we don't know if Klein was writing that "Many Democrats say on background...." All we know is that Boehlert criticizes Klein for no quotes.
If he is indeed saying that background is invalid that's a new rule that we can hold them to. But not sure that is what he was saying.
Loose shit, all I am saying.

Thanks, I hadn't heard what was going on with ConEd, though I assumed they would be amiable. A governor would use eminent domain to turn the building into a 9-11 memorial.
That means that the Governor's office would claim in court that the building deserves this designation. The building's owner would be paid the fair market value for the building.
Because of all the controversy and public opinion on this matter, a judge might deem it worthy of the Governor's opinion on the building's improper use and proper proposed designation.

The Democrats who voted against the HealthScam were given a pass by Pelousy, who knew that it would mean political suicide in their particular districts. She concentrated her efforts on persuading Dems who were not in such vulnerable positions, such as Stupid and Kucinich. And every one of those so-called moderate or conservative Dems could have voted for someone other than Pelousy for speaker when the Dems first took Congress. Did she ever have to fend off any serious challenge from the "conservative" wing of the party?

Or the building could simply be certified as an historical landmark, in which case no one would really ever be able to build on the site, again. New York has a long history of pulling this crap for construction projects they don't like. It would be nice if they could use this power for good ... just once.
But, I still wish Robert Moses were alive. He'd let them build the mosque and tear it down and run a highway through it (the only 1 block highway in the world!).
But, that's not the New York City we have today. After all, those idiots voted Bloomberg in for a third term. You just don't much dumber than that.

Or the building could simply be certified as an historical landmark, in which case no one would really ever be able to build on the site, again.
The landmarks commission ruled unanimously, and I don't think that decision can be appealed, though I believe there is a lawsuit that they made their ruling arbitrarily and irresponsibly. There is a good case why the building should be landmarked, so I would the plaintiffs have a good case.
And I miss Robert Moses. He was a tough old bird, but he was a visionary. I was just at Central Park to see Al Pacino in The Merchant of Venice. The line started two days before the show, and people who came out of A Winter's Tale to line up at 11:30pm the night before didn't even get vouchers. Joseph Papp went to court with Robert Moses over whether the tickets should be free or not, but Moses understood that in NYC, it's only a matter of time before someone starts running a scam. In this case, you have shantytown's that set up and where vagrants would typically be chased from the park, now they're avid theatre-goers quietly scalping tickets.

You do realize that Bohlert was talking specifically about the ABC story, and then you linked to a Politico story right?
If you guys are so concerned about where the Twin Towers once stood as being hallowed ground; how come you want anything built there? If it is so hallowed, why don't we just build a memorial park there, and make it hallowed ground with, again, maybe some green space, memorials to all of those who died there that day (minus the terrorists of course), and so on? Instead, we're just going to have another skyscraper.
Don't forget, the "mosque" isn't actually a mosque, and it's not at Ground Zero either.

Actually, wouldn't it be the 9/11 Debris Field Community Center?
Speaking of community centers, IIRC, there was an Islamist attack on a Jewish community center in Argentina in the 90s, and have been other attacks on Jewish community centers in the US. I wonder if the attackers viewed the community centers as equivalent of military targets, and if so, where would they have gotten that idea?

Yeah, another name for the general area is "Soho." The MFM might have heard of it. I think the Democrats are going all in. Now that Obama has gone on the record, there's not much else they can do. But they will get their asses whipped in the midterms. Bloomberg is going to stump for Sestak, btw.
But I agree with Proggie. Eminent domain gets abused so much in this city, it would be nice if it were for a worthwhile cause. It's not beyond the realm of possibility, either. Hizzonder whining that it would be a sad day if the mosque got shouted down says to me they're on the ropes and they know they'll lose.
But you should see how many of these cast iron buildings in Soho are "AIR" or artist in residence landmark buildings. There's something shady in how the procedure went through.

Let's just drop the talk of the mosque for now ok? You're like so totally right on that!
You do realize that the terrorists took the towers down in the name of Islam right? You know that was the second attempt at taking the towers down in the name of Islam right? Does it not strike you as poor "outreach" to build a big Islamic center in the place where some major debris from the weapons of the terrorists fell? You know that Hamas, a group noted for its Islamic outreach, like really really really wants it to be built right?
I'll stop there for now, cause I'm sure you won't ever be back.

It is @ Ground Zero in the same way Avery Fisher Hall is @ Lincoln Center. I love all the shit for brain tourists who suddenly have an opinion on NYC real estate, as if a passing acquaintance somehow makes you an expert. In this city, everything is location. "Two blocks from the express train" is a selling point. "At Ground Zero" is exactly what it fucking says. And if it is an Islamic cultural center with a PRAYER SPACE that's a MOSQUE.
