January 20, 2010
— Ace Here's NY Daily News publisher Mort Zuckerman, a partisan urban liberal Democrat (but not wild-eyedly so), getting it, and, one senses, finally writing about the anger he's been feeling for six months.
This is a sloppily-written piece that reeks of first-draft anger. Basically it's a hate-you letter to Barack Obama.
He's Done Everything WrongObama punted on the economy and reversed the fortunes of the Democrats in 365 days.
He’s misjudged the character of the country in his whole approach. There’s the saying, “It’s the economy, stupid.” He didn’t get it. He was determined somehow or other to adopt a whole new agenda. He didn’t address the main issue.
This health-care plan is going to be a fiscal disaster for the country. Most of the country wanted to deal with costs, not expansion of coverage. This is going to raise costs dramatically.
In the campaign, he said he would change politics as usual. He did change them. ItÂ’s now worse than it was. IÂ’ve now seen the kind of buying off of politicians that IÂ’ve never seen before. ItÂ’s politically corrupt and itÂ’s starting at the top. ItÂ’s revolting.
Five states got deals on health care—one of them was Harry Reid’s. It is disgusting, just disgusting. I’ve never seen anything like it. The unions just got them to drop the tax on Cadillac plans in the health-care bill. It was pure union politics. They just went along with it. It’s a bizarre form of political corruption. It’s bribery. I suppose they could say, that’s the system. He was supposed to change it or try to change it.
....
HeÂ’s lost his audience. He has not rallied public opinion. He has plunged in the polls more than any other political figure since weÂ’ve been using polls. HeÂ’s done everything wrong. Well, not everything, but the major things.
I donÂ’t consider it a triumph. I consider it a disaster.
One business leader said to me, “In the Clinton administration, the policy people were at the center, and the political people were on the sideline. In the Obama administration, the political people are at the center, and the policy people are on the sidelines.”
IÂ’m very disappointed. We endorsed him. I voted for him. I supported him publicly and privately.
...ItÂ’s very sad. ItÂ’s really sad.
He’s improved America’s image in the world. He absolutely did. But you have to translate that into something. Let me tell you what a major leader said to me recently. “We are convinced,” he said, “that he is not strong enough to confront his enemy. We are concerned,” he said “that he is not strong to support his friends.”
The political leadership of the world is very, very dismayed. He better turn it around. The Democrats are going to get killed in this election. Jesus, looks whatÂ’s happening in Massachusetts.
Oh, this just in:

Amazing to see it said so clearly. Obama's hair is going to become a lot whiter during the next few months.
I have read him being pilloried all over, in the leftist blogs, today. They feel betrayed.

Stupid jackass. He thinks Obama has improved our image in the world? Anyone with a brain knows Obama has made us a laughing-stock in the world, which will have the real effect of causing the deaths of millions over the next decade. When America is seen as weak and "nice", the world suffers. When we're seen as strong, and, yes, let's say it, "mean", the world is a much safer place.
Mort, you voted for this empty vessel because you're a fucking fantasist, who believes that fairy tale solutions are possible in politics and foreign policy. We are Morons, but we could see through Obama before he was elected.
Now shut the fuck up and sit down. You're lost your speaking privileges.

OT morons but old guy needs help (senility sets in).
Quick look at my tax return this year shows me getting back $400 less than last year. Isn't this the "supposed" tax break promised by obambi that we all knew would bite us on the backside this year. We got the check late last spring or early summer? Trying to put a fellow worker on some knowledge but, as I said, the mind is the first thing to go. Thanks

Maybe <i>"incandescent with"</i> or <i>"overflowing with"</i>. "reeks" is such a loaded term.
And <i>"first-draft"</i>s are usually the most honest, while the writer has their Irish up and their guardrails down. Let us treasure this first-draft, the profound disillusionment of the true-believer who crafted it, and the implications therein where we see the President losing his Fourth-Estate base.
The Chattering Classes on the coasts are starting to learn that it is they, and not Flyover Country, who are the rubes. And they're angry not just at being fooled, but at being exposed as fools for all to see.

There was enough information about Obama's ideology last year that anyone with any common sense should have run away. To put it another way, when you happen to find roofies, handcuffs, and a camera in the backseat of your date's car, you might want to reconsider your evening plans.

There wasn't a tax cut at all. All they did is not take as much out of your withholding. Now when your taxc bill is due in April, you still owe the same amount as you would have last year; but you haven't had as much withheld, so you will have to pay more to the government. (Or you won't get as much back, if you routinely overpay.) Did that explain it so your friend can understand?

Yeah, sure thing, Mort. He's "improved" America's image in the world so much that none of our allies can rely on us anymore and none of our enemies fear doing or saying anything contradicting or threatening us, our allies, or our interests (e.g., Russia, Venezuela, Iran, etc.).
For example, the freakin' French just accused us of occupying Haiti, Sarkozy has personal mocked Obama for his stupidity on nuclear weapons, the UK's Gordon Brown had to put a happy face on Obama's gift of chintzy DVDs that don't work on DVD players in Europe, Obama couldn't close the sale on having the Olympics in Chicago, he failed with his global warming agenda at Copenhagen, and the entire world had to watch him bow to various foreign royalty in Saudi Arabia and Japan and smile lovingly while shaking hands with Hugo Chavez. And that's just a partial list for Obama's first year in office. If any of that has "improved" our image -- unless one's definition of "improved" involves us looking weak and disorganized -- please describe what is considered "harming" our image in the world.
This clown Obama is in way over his head and still doesn't realize it because he's surrounded himself with a bunch of lackeys and butt-kissers. Also, if I have to hear another comment about his "towering intellect," I'm going to vomit. The guy isn't an idiot but "towering intellect"? Puh-lease. The Left, including the media, has tried way too hard to make him the anti-Bush by doing their best to convince everyone that Bush is an idiot (as they've done with the President or VP in every Republican administration since Ford) then using that false premise to position the Democrat candidates (e.g., Obama, Clinton, Kerry, Gore, etc.) as intelligent. It's aggravating.

No one likes a serial whiner. It has been a year now — and Obama still blames George W. Bush ad nauseam. He did it in Massachusetts again — and on the eve of the election, no less. Blaming the past for the mistakes of the present gets old quickly. And when one adds in the constant What’s the Matter With Kansas? brand of condescension about naïve yokels not knowing what’s good for them, it gets even worse.

I hear you. My problem is that people like Zuckerman still don't understand what they've done and they still don't understand what the real motivations of The Precedent are (just to destroy our nation). Until they can, at least, come to view that is somewhat consistent with reality I can't think of any quarter for them. I'd continue to pound people like Zuckerman until they can admit that they voted for someone whose intentions were nothing but destructive and whose candidacy never should have been given more than a tenth of a second of consideration.
For those who have truly come around to realize what they did, I might grant them some slack, but imbeciles like Zuckerman, still claiming that The Precedent wants to do something for the benefit of America, I have no patience and even less tolerance.

They say it because from their point of view, he did. They couldn't stand having the face of America being some dipshit from Texas. They love having The Messiah as the face of America; therefore, he improved America's image.

"The Democrats are going to get killed in this election. Jesus, looks whatÂ’s happening in Massachusetts."
Would he be writing this today if Coakley had won?

Tommorow his tears will dry, and he will be the same person he was yesterday. Leftists are machochistic when it comes to blind naive let-down.
Fortunately for the country, his let-down is Obama, and not the inevitable disaster of HCR.

If on the one hand, the world looks at you like you're a giant cop who doesn't care so much what the world thinks, and on the other, the world looks at you like a hooker who's not sure she should charge because she loves her job so much, it's not difficult to imagine which one the world wants around.
You improve somebody's image of you by being the thing they want, not the thing they need.

Not only did Tina Brown throw Teh Precedent under the bus today, but Warren Buffet is questioning him taxing the financial institutions that paid back their TARP to bail out GM, Fanny and Freddie. It sounds like Warren isn't drinking the Kool-Aid any more. The fissures are appearing, I can't wait til the dam breaks and the Tsunami of anger from our betters, "The Educated Class" drowns Obama. I so hope it happens--it's only been a year, and people are pissed. We still have 3 more years of this crap. I want all those jerks in the MSM, academia, Hollywood, etc. to be forced to eat the crap sandwich they foisted on us. It will be particularly enthralling to watch Oprah choke hers down.

I vote someone from India or Israel.
Ooh, Israel is a great guess, but I'm going with Sarkozy who cannot hide his contempt for our man child Precedent. Remember when the media use to swoon over whatever the French said or thought (when they were obstructing or bashing Bush).

Alinsky would be sending them all to detention.
Alinksy didn't know how to build. Only how to destroy.

Was looking at the column in Daily Beast written by Larry Flynt one comment gave me a pretty good laugh.
" If Obama has lost Larry Flynt, he's lost the ability to pleasure himself"

That was pretty funny. Neil was very nice to him. I liked that Neil said that we all knew that the Indonesian imbecile was going to do these things, though he let Mort slink away from that. I guess "spread the wealth" wasn't clear enough for the edumacated class.
But I liked Mort's energy.

Captain Hate and Sharkman and probably others above have pointed this out from the article but it bears repeating:
"He’s improved America’s image in the world.
He better turn it around."
Read the above and see the obvious conflict. According to Z, the only good thing Obama has done is something he actually hasn't done (at least with world leaders). Ah, the pretzel logic of liberals.
