— DrewM Mexico's Ambassador to the United States announced today that his government issued a travel advisory to Mexicans saying they should avoid traveling to Arizona. It seems the Mexican government, despite its own stringent immigration laws, thinks expecting Mexicans in the US to follow US law is tantamount to harassment.
This got me thinking that perhaps we should focus on some of the dangers Americans face when traveling to Mexico. According to a warning issued by on April 12th, the US State Department, there are quite a few things much scarier than 'harassment' to worry about.
Recent violent attacks have prompted the U.S. Embassy to urge U.S. citizens to delay unnecessary travel to parts of Durango, Coahuila and Chihuahua states (see details below) and advise U.S. citizens residing or traveling in those areas to exercise extreme caution. Drug cartels and associated criminal elements have retaliated violently against individuals who speak out against them or whom they otherwise view as a threat to their organizations. These attacks include the abduction and murder of two resident U.S. citizens in Chihuahua....Criminals have followed and harassed U.S. citizens traveling in their vehicles in border areas including Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, and Tijuana. Travelers on the highways between Monterrey and other parts of Mexico to the United States (notably through Nuevo Laredo and Matamoros) have been targeted for robbery and violence and have also inadvertently been caught in incidents of gunfire between criminals and Mexican law enforcement. Such incidents are more likely to occur at night but may occur at any time.
...In recent years, dozens of U.S. citizens living in Mexico have been kidnapped and most of their cases remain unsolved. U.S. citizens who believe they are being targeted for kidnapping or other crimes should notify Mexican law enforcement officials and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City or the nearest U.S. consulate as soon as possible. Any U.S. visitor who suspects they are a target should consider returning to the United States immediately. U.S. citizens should be aware that many cases of violent crime are never resolved by Mexican law enforcement, and the U.S. government has no authority to investigate crimes committed in Mexico.
...During demonstrations or law enforcement operations, U.S. citizens are advised to remain in their homes or hotels, avoid large crowds, and avoid the downtown and surrounding areas. Since the timing and routes of scheduled marches and demonstrations are always subject to change, U.S. citizens should monitor local media sources for new developments and exercise extreme caution while within the vicinity of protests.
Wow, sounds like a nice country. If you are thinking of vacationing anytime soon, I'd stay away from a dangerous place like Mexico and consider...Arizona. Sedona is lovely.

I know a woman whose Mexican uncle was kidnapped. The woman's mother (who lives in Mexico) and her family came up with the $20K to ransom him. A month later the gang kidnapped the mother's next door neighbor. The mother thought they were really targeting her and screwed up the address. She fled her home that day and has been hiding in a hotel in Mexico City for 5 months. Mexico is a lawless shit hole.

I spent some quality time in Juarez in October 2007, during which I narrowly escaped severe bodily harm. A few months later all hell broke loose there, courtesy the Sinaloa cartel. A couple of the people I wrote about in that story (members of Los Centauros) were among the 2000 people murdered in Juarez in 2008. Today I wouldn't go 5 blocks into that town.
Ciudad de Juarez fun fact: besides being the murder capital of North America, it is also the home of the world's largest Krispy Kreme restaurant (owned by my acquaintance Jorge Zaragosa).

Therefore, to support amnesty and anything approaching the current immigration system is evidence of one's incorrigible racism toward our Asian and African brothers.
So, again, why does Barack Obama hate Asians and Black people? Why do Mexican politicians in the U.S. hate other Latinos so much? But seriously I heard about a drug rehab place that wanted to open in Rosarito Beach (south of TJ). They were broken into by armed gunmen in the night, they stole computers and equipment. They called the policia and when they showed up...It was the same guys.
I haven't been in Mexico since they made it a requirement to have a passport or passport ID card...
I'll repeat: I can't go to Tijuana for the DAY without a passport.

-military all over the airport with AKs.
-had to prearrange transportation from the airport to the hotel to avoid kidnapping or robbery by fake taxi drivers.
- told not to go out after dark

- of course don't drink the water
Never been back to MX since and never had a desire to go to anywhere in MX, even Cancun. The country is an out of countrol shit hole. All the folks here in SoCal just love the place (even the white folk - makes them feel pseudo rich) - I could care less.

This is a significant reversal by the Mexican government. For the first time in my lifetime, they are telling their citizens NOT to come to the United States.
And the left said Arizona's new law wouldn't work.

I live in Mexico. The Riviera Maya, to be exact. Our biggest threat to security is bicycle theft. Hard to believe that Ace of Spades would jump on the MSM's meme about the dangers of Mexico. You guys have vacations properties in the US, too? Like CBS, ABC and Fox?

I live in Mexico City and I do think there is something to all the crime stories, especially in the north. I can understand wanting to boycott Mexico over illegal immigration.
If AZ sticks to its guns, its really going to get interesting. The real loser is going to be the US government, who will have to face AZ handing over a bunch of illegal immigrants the fed cant and dont want to take.
The next losers will be New Mexico and Texas as illegal crosses look for other venues to cross and CA and other states who will those already in AZ looking for safer havens.
Also, check out Michelle Malkins column today about immigration law in Mexico, which I have to follow. I would love an American to come to Mexico City and just stand there with an American flag and do nothing else. Watch how long he lasts there. Alas, Im too chicken to do it and lose my job

The violence is so bad that many Mexican upper and upper middle class families are buying a fairly significant amount of our residential real estate for safety purposes. Interestingly enough some of these people are moving their business to our side of the border. NAFTA in reverse.
Damn fine neighbors too I must say. Hope they stay.
