I'd propose a modification to the Arizona Law. Instead of throwing the Illegals in jail and dealing with the time and expense of deporting them (legal challenges etc.) Give them, their family and friends free bus tickets to the welcoming, open arms of progressive San Francisco. Get enough takers on this deal and you could more cheaply charter a bus that would drop them off at Gavin Newsome's home. He can serve them lemonade as they arrive!

A few months back, ABC (I think it was ABC) showcased a true story of a family who moved from the US to a beautiful rural area in Mexico.  The husband was kidnapped on his own property and kept in a box , for over a year.  The kidnappers attempted to extort money from the wife.


Eventually the husband was released by the kidnappers.  The Mexican authorities were useless and these kidnappers are still out there, kidnapping people, torturing them with near starvation, loud music etc while they hold them in a tiny box and attempt to extort the family...

Illegals have been deported from PA, the Philly metro. I had a friend who was dating one, he got multiple DUIs and next thing you know he was on a bus to York, that's where the holding facility is. From there they were dispatched back to Mexico.

I don't have numbers on this, but I do know some high-profile DUI deaths occurred in this area which resulted in the crackdown.

26 Yeah, my buddy and his wife thought it would be a really nice thing to do to go down to Mexico as missionaries.  Well, they had to live in a house with bars on everything and he had to escort his wife and kids to an American school every day then pick them up.  Once in the school grounds, they couldn't go anywhere - even the wife.  Could never walk on the streets with his kids (especially the little cute blond daughter). 

They watched as the church "officials" bought Mercedes for themselves and girlfriends with the money he had raised from America.

They didn't last long down there, at all.

I love the guy to death, but his complete selflessness almost got them killed.  And he's very conservative.

31 A close friend of mine's uncle, established businessman and fund raising for a local hospital, disappeared late last year after befriending a traveler that claimed he was in Mexico illegally because he was wanted in Texas by the DEA.  He tried to help this man return to Texas to face the charges.

The guy disappeared and he hasn't been found.  All of his possessions were stolen.  They stole his car, everything in his house, and then his life.

The guy served customers in Cancun.

This is a great place to stay to get away from it all: http://www.redbuckranch.com/.  It's north Scottsdale, so a bit of a haul to action, but really a nice place. 

We've almost moved to AZ a couple of times, but it never quite worked out. 

I must admit though that for artsy and nature vibe, I prefer New Mexico.  AZ is a little over-run by golfers, wrinklies, and college students -- kind of kills the spirit a bit for me.

We visit Florida regularly since my parents have a place there. Sometimes I have people here in the North East say they want to move to Florida. They ask me for advice. I tell them that if they aren't living directly on the beach, fugghedaboutit. Because if you live directly on the beach, you can keep an accurate tally of the boats and rafts landing on said beach in the middle of the night.
 
Anyway, lots and lots of Floridians have found land somewhere's else in America besides Florida. For one reason or the other. Why leave paradise, you ask. Well, the simplest answer is that if you are in paradise, everybody and their
illegitimate children want to come there. Then a lot of paradise starts to look
like Cuba or Puerto Rico or Jamaica or just some craphole of an island the Beach Boys never sang about and you never heard of on the radio.
 
Paradise becomes a place that if you are not constantly well armed....even in a
skimpy bathing suit.....your life could be put into peril at a moment's notice.
 
Anyway, I've got a long time friend who left Miami for Mississippi. She heard
about the Arizona immigration law. She put in her two cents. Asked me to block
out her name cause even in Mississippi she fears for her life from Haitian
and/or Jamaican gangsters. It's tough enough for her to get a job in Mississippi
without the welfare liberals hearing that she made a complaint out loud.

They, the anti-American freeloaders, invited in by the greed for power by the
crumb bumb politicians in 1982 to 1992,  were the recipients of U S Government funding, government civil service jobs, and other freebies including Medical Care and Student Education Grants at the Community Colleges.  BTW once in as a Supervisor, they do NOT hire Americans, neither black or white Americans.  They only hire their own people.

And today, I live as a displaced person in Mississippi.  Barely able to buy
toilet paper and dog food.  So, when I think about all the marketing of the
phoney politicians that flaunted JESUS to get elected, I just about puke.

Just be aware of what is coming your way as long as you support the right-
right- "right" christian coalition, who btw  are NOT Christians. They are not
right. The "Preachers" are the worst, and most of them are not even college

which I am now denied. I enjoy northern Arizona and plan on retiring either there, or hill country in Texas. Have family in both areas already and am looking forward to that immensely.

Sedona is beautiful, and despite it's hippie aura, I'd love to go back some day. Flagstaff is lovely as well.

76 Flagstaff IS beautiful, probably the nicest natural area Arizona boasts, certainly during the summer as winds blow in small showers each afternoon in the cool mountains above the blazing Sonoran Desert (3.5 hour drive). There's an observatory up on San Francisco Peak, and the NAU campus.

But if anyone plans on visiting the Grand Canyon and if cheap flights are a concern, fly Vegas and drive to the West Rim. Prepare for a day's drive to the Canyon from PHX as the Canyon is not on the highway to anywhere, but a road that takes off for another couple of hours to itself from the main highway beyond Flagstaff in order to see the glorious North Rim where there are pines and the CCC constructed visitor center and resort and camp grounds. 

There's a marvelous NATURAL setting "resort" hosted on a nearby Reservation with waterfalls and pools along the Colorado River at the Havasupai Falls.

If it's the PHX metropolitan area to visit, near Sky Harbor Airport check out The Buttes: A Marriott Resort in Tempe with a view of Town Lake (Salt River) and fine restaurants (Monty's Steak House is still there by Tempe Beach),  surrounded by AZ State Univ., Papago Park and Indian Ruins, the PHX Zoo, Big Surf, horseback riding and golfing, a walk to Grady Gammage Auditorium, between the PHX Symphony Square and Scottsdale.

77 BTW, It would be foolish for anyone to spend time trespassing/camping along the AZ/UT border on private property ranches where strangers are not welcome.  Illegal aliens in AZ say they're leaving, so should make note as they pick up their bags and move along. I'll believe it when it happens--headlines sell papers and such. It isn't as if the illegal aliens are leaving for Mexico, or the Mexican govt. wants them back; so I'll bet they're on their way to Vegas to pester Reid's constituents instead of broken CA. 116 Serious question here. I've been going to TJ for lazer treatments that my ins doesn't carry, but my doc wants me to get. It's much cheaper to get it there plus I get to visit my son and friends in So Cal.

Before this vote happened I was aware of the travel advisory for American's in Mexico. I kinda shrugged it off as those staying over night and partying in the towns. I don't plan to do that, I always take a taxi to the doctors office and they call one for me to take me back to the border. Even tho this has always 'been' safe, I can tell you it didn't feel that safe. If you need police in Mexico, you have no clue what you will get, some one that helps or some one who will scam you.

I'm scheduled to go next month for some treatments. But I'm thinking it just might not be a good idea what with people getting riled up by their prez down there. It's not on the Az border, but there were already warnings about TJ as well.

My brother-in-law's next door neighbor - the largest newpaper publisher in Juarez - has guard dogs, barbed wire and very large gardeners packing heat.

I work in investments and stocks do not grow and retirements are not paid for and secure unless you have more new tax paying, investing workers enter the labor force than leave it. Otherwise in the near future you have massive pension drawdowns (stock selling) and taxes spread around just a few hard-working investing people. Sound familiar?

Let's keep the focus on Clinton's and other Democrat distortions and omissions without dumping on the legal and desirable immigrants. It's not just the unemployed hispanic that wants to come to the US. It is also the Indian doctor, the British scientist, the Costa Rican entrepreneur and a whole lot of other desirable, productive tax paying people.

I liked your list for the most part but I completely disagree with your anti-immigrant view. Furthermore, aside from the economic rationale I note below which favors legal immigration, Anti-ILLEGAL immigrant is a political winner. Anti-Immigrant is a political loser.

It is a demographic fact (not a liberal fact) that healthy economies have growing populations whether through immigration or having 10 children each. People work and add money to the system, then they retire and take money out of the system (if there is money there), then they die. Without new population growth to fund this whole inter-generational system you don't want to be the last ones in that system because you'll eat dog food for 30 years and then you'll die! The US has a low birthrate so we need legal immigrants. Shrinkage is bad. Ask Ace, Ask George Costanza!

The USA is not crowded...Japan is crowded...and they have exactly the problem we don't want, lot's of old people without enough young workers to invest in the securities that provide for their retirement or to pay the taxes for the country's services and social security burden.

You need to go back and re-read that post.  It is NOT anti-immigration.  It is selective immigration for education and skills vs destitute migrants that will go immediately on the dole. (check the Australian model)

And your view of the economics is not accurate. A slow stable population replacement or small amount of growth is fine to support the economy as long as the nation does not depend on runaway population growth to fund deficit spending.

That is what is wrong with our current model. SS ceased being a "retirement supplement" and became an everything to all without a means to pay for it. We had three (3) huge tax increased designed to pay for the bulge caused by the boomers and the politicians spent 1.25 for every dollar of tax increase.

And I no longer listen to timid Republican calls for what is good "politically" vs what is needed for the country from a conservative standpoint. The "timids" have been wrong for the last 10 years.

I am being a bit flip about the US Marines and bombers. Here's what I mean. Japanese WW2 military and civilian casualties were estimated at  2.7 million out of about 70 million pre WW2 population (just under 4%). I assume as soldiers most of those killed were at prime parenting age eliminating 2 generations and millions of future births. The Japan mainland's major cities were devastated by US bombing devastating the country's economy. Japan's post WW2 focus was rebuilding the economy and not having babies. The ensuing lack of a large baby boom (what I call a population non-bubble) along with the strict limits on any immigration into Japan leaves Japan with a higher average age than all other industrial economies and a higher ratio of elderly (non-producers) to younger (producers). The current stagnant non-growing Japanese economy pays the price of not having as many younger producers and taxpayers as other growth oriented economies to pay for everything.

There are a lot of other issues, including cultural tendencies, savings rates, employment rates, government beauracracy etc. too but Japan's warped population mix of old to new is a major problem.

Understanding that political reality is not being "timid" it is being smart and being smart about the politics is the only way you get good law. I like to believe that conservatives are smarter than both liberals and moderates.

This doctor also works in the US, he speaks perfect english, as well as his staff. I'm only having lazer treatments and he has far superior equipment than some I've seen locally in my area. My doc wasn't using the cold air during lazer, he was still using the cold gel.A huge difference if you've had lazer work.

I found him through a friend of mine who is a nurse, she goes to him as well. I went down with her when she had some treatments to see how comfortable I would be with him. Many doctors have moved down there not to give inferior treatment but to avoid the regulations that were making it almost impossible to practice.  He just built this office and it's very nice and clean and safe.

In Florida in my area you have to be on a waiting list for months for doctors. There just aren't enough to go around and I see doc after doc retiring. It's only going to get worse. So I'm trying to find any alternative I can if need be.
