Mid-Day Spine Stiffener
— Gabriel Malor

Folks, you are effing pussies. As of this morning, Pelosi had 192 members "definitely voting yes." She was 24 votes shy and there were 28 maybes.

After "yeses" from Boyd, Boccieri, Titus, Perriello and a "no" from DeFazio she's at 195 members voting yes. She's 21 votes shy and there are 24 maybes left. This isn't bad. Guess what, puddin' heads: the race was always going to get tighter before it was finished. Big, giant DUH.

Now, sure, all those maybes are Democrats, which means their natural tendency will be to stick together. Going against that tendency is their individual desires to get reelected and the certain asswhoopin they're going to get in November as a result of voting in favor of this bill.

Pelosi can definitely do this. I'm not saying that we're going to win. But it is far from clear that we're going to lose at this point. She and Hoyer are still racing around trying beg, buy, and steal votes. MoveOn just sent out an "emergency" message trying to gin up support.

A reminder once again, Fox News' "whip count" which supposedly places Pelosi one vote away from 216 has no basis in reality. No other whip counts on either the right or the left have things that close. We don't have it that close because too many members keep saying they are undecided. Fox is making too many unexplained assumptions.

Also, all this "OMG they switched from 'no' to 'yes'" is also unhelpful. Divorce in your mind any member's November "no" vote from anything they are doing now. They're not flipping "no" to "yes." At least, it's not any worse than a "yes" staying "yes." All that matters is the total 216 votes, not where they get them from. It's not like we're going to lose if we don't get a certain amount of "no" votes. What does it matter? Remember, several "yes-in-November" votes have become "no-in-March" votes. Doesn't mean anything except: (1) this is a different bill; and (2) the political environment is vastly changed.

Instant Update: And even as I wrote this, Altmire confirmed that he's voting no. That brings the maybes down to 23. Guess what, three more declare for us and Pelosi cannot reach 216! Smile, it's not over yet.

And be sure and read FDL whip count's latest pre-Altmire update He's also coming up with a three-vote deficit being the margin.

Hi,

Me again, Senator Debbie Stabenow. In this final push for healthcare, I would just like to remind you that we citizens don't currently have any health care. I was out driving the other day and saw a hospital and it was closed.

I also have a strong case of feminine itch and odor, under President Obama's plan, I will be taken care of, and everybody else who has this womanly issue will be taken care of.

President Obama was talking the other day about the wonderful new medical advances he has come up with, like basketball shorts that don't bunch up in the crotch area, skin creme that helps with his ashiness, new nostril suppositories, and a cure for AIDS.

Thank you,
Sen. Debbie Stabenow

A note on DeFazio.  He claims he is voting no because they have enough votes.  Don't believe it, this is part of the bluff.  So I don't consider him a no.  He'll vote yes if they need him.

They had to call in all the progressives and a lot of the "blue dogs" and are saying "we have the votes" without enumerating them.

Byron York at NRO said it best.  They are willing to go to a vote with say 4 votes not locked down and risk losing it just to intimidate the wavering Dems.

Nancy has to have the votes - and a commitment not to sustain a Motion to Recommit w/ Instructions from Boehner for a modest package of reforms. There are a lot of Dems who love to screw Reid by throwing a "Republican" bill back into his lap.

But seriously, it would be nice to know who feels they can't trust a deal from the administration. If the Democrats get their permanent majority, they can keep hooking up their buddies and the devil take the hindmost. Look at that guy Greg Craig, the Clinton confidante who helped Obama defeat Hillary in the primaries. Under the bus! Even Maureen Dowd disapproved of that move. The way the Greg Craig "matter was handled sent a chill through some Obama supporters." This guy's word is worth spit. Keep calling around, and you're going to hit pay dirt. The problem is that with our current demographic situation [sometime in the next two or three years, white babies will become a minority of all children born in the USA], this healthcare debacle is only the first of the endless battles that we will engage in with them.

We might be able to hold out through 2012, or maybe 2016, but the writing is on the wall - eventually there will be too many of them, and demos kratia [the rule of the mob] will overwhelm politeía [the polite society & its Marquis of Queensbury rules].

The Mugabe-ism of Barack Hussein Obama is not an aberration in American politics - it is how American politics will continue to look, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, right up until the point that the whole system implodes and vanishes.

So don't invest too much emotionally in this healthcare mess - this is only giving you a foretaste of what every single day of the remainder of your life is going to be like.

104 There's a real possibility that some already proclaimed yes-es will switch to noes, too, as details of the bill emerge.

The flare-up over Medicare, a dispute that has percolated throughout the yearlong health care debate, was just one in a series of fast-moving developments as the Democrats press toward a decisive vote on the House floor on Sunday. It came as rank-and-file lawmakers pored over the detailed legislative language released on Thursday, and a handful of representatives said their states were being short-changed by new provisions.

110 100,000 calls per hr to House members

Members continued to be inundated with phone calls from constituents and interest groups Friday thanks to an impending vote on health care reform this weekend.

Calls to the House numbered close to 100,000 an hour, creating a bottleneck in a phone system only meant to handle 50,000 calls an hour. The chamber has been similarly overloaded for four consecutive days, beginning on Tuesday when radio host Rush Limbaugh told viewers to call the Capitol switchboard phone number.

The House is still angling for a promise "in writing" from the Senate, agreeing they will take up the reconciliation bill - I think everything is going to hinge on that happening.

It ain't gonna happen, and I hope that these House Dems who are selling their votes for something that is in that reconciliation package and Manager’s Amendment package realize that. If they vote to “pass” this thing with no assurances from the Senate, then this is a done deal, the Senate bill “passes” as is, and everyone goes home.

The House Dems will be left holding the bag on a bunch of worthless deals, and a WHOLE LOT of very angry constituents. If that happens, things are going to get very, very ugly, starting in D.C., continuing on to their states, and ending in each RepresentativesÂ’ home district. The House and the Senate will tear each other to shreds, and BamBam wonÂ’t be able to show his face ANYWHERE NEAR anyone in either branch of the legislature for the next 3 years after a betrayal of this magnitude.

I sure hope they have thought all of this out (my guess is they havenÂ’t), and I sure hope that their votes are worth it in the endÂ….

Yes, but what many people are overlooking is that over 50% of Hispanics identify as Conservatives.  Due to abortions, there are now more Hispanics than African Americans, and that trend is only likely to continue.  Plus, all of the white chicks who are trending liberal are also the ones having abortions.

The numbers for Conservatives are actually on our side for the long run.  We keep replenishing our numbers (and then some), while the Liberals keep killing their future constituencies off before they even have a chance to live.

There's gonna be a big change, all right - more and more Conservatives will come of age over the next couple of decades.  We're going to be just fine....

Obviously, that means most of them are Yes votes.  But only a handful need to be No votes.  Just a few.  And odds are there are a few, and Fox News's analysis is very close to accurate (just wait and see, it will probably only be off by 5 or less).
