Miss Australia costume for Miss Universe pagent
— Purple Avenger

OK, I'm a sport, I can accept quite a bit when it comes to goofy pageant costumes, but this one is flat out bizarre, and quite a few Aussies think so too it would seem.

What the oddball costume contains, appears to be perfectly acceptable, perhaps even ummm...exceptional.

Pic below the fold.

2 It's either that one or the Lord Humungous costume.

Posted by: EC at August 01, 2010 02:29 PM (iWj1i)

3 It will look even better crumpled up at the foot of my bed...

Posted by: KZnextzone at August 01, 2010 02:29 PM (veaqz)

4 Decadent!  Take some of the extra frills (is that what they are called?) from the bottom and put them on the top.  The costume might look classy then.

5 Its the high healed UGG boots that do her in. But, I'd still hit it.

Posted by: Vic at August 01, 2010 02:33 PM (/jbAw)

6 Can they make one for me in a size 15?

The dress is almost as fashionable as the Michelle Obama bumble bee.  The Wookie should have accessorized the outfit with Deely Bobbers.

8
She looks more like a Mongolian yak herder than a beauty contestant.

Hey PA, when we gonna have another 'tool time' thread?

Isn't this thread tool time?

ie time to spend with your tool?

Posted by: dudeinsantacruz at August 01, 2010 02:37 PM (Ismnj)

10 I'm gonna rip it off of her in about 90 seconds. Is that long enough to notice it's ugly?

Posted by: Little Miss Spellcheck at August 01, 2010 02:38 PM (xqhoO)

11 I like it.  Not something I'd expect to see a gal wearing at the mall, but for a beauty pageant?  It's fine.

12 when we gonna have another 'tool time' thread?

Don't want to steal the ONT thunder this late in the day, but I think up something for a slow day during the week or next weekend.

13
They need to fire up the barbie and use that dress as firewood to cook a little medium rare dingo.

Posted by: Fish at August 01, 2010 02:40 PM (v1gw3)

14 Any guy who notices the dress at all is gay.

Posted by: andycanuck at August 01, 2010 02:45 PM (rfHsm)

15
So you dislike the costume?  How about a Tampon costume?

Posted by: Fish at August 01, 2010 02:47 PM (v1gw3)

16

So you dislike the costume?  How about a Tampon costume?

Why would anyone do that?

Posted by: dudeinsantacruz at August 01, 2010 02:54 PM (Ismnj)

17 Hit it, I would, the costume.

Posted by: yoDa at August 01, 2010 02:54 PM (kViFb)

18 She can wear anything and look great. I say more power to her.

Posted by: zelda starr at August 01, 2010 02:54 PM (wzd5b)

19 All I see is cleavage. Wow-wah-wee-wah.

Posted by: fluke_boy at August 01, 2010 02:58 PM (WuYSD)

20 If she traded in the "flamenco" bottom for something ala Raquel Welch in that caveman flick, you know she's win (if the judges were straight guys that is).

Posted by: unknown jane at August 01, 2010 02:59 PM (5/yRG)

21 Actually, it's so weird, it's kind of charming. Guess it's a case of the woman wearing it that makes it OK.

Posted by: mockmook at August 01, 2010 03:12 PM (5ssRl)

22 Sharp elbows. Still.....screen door, hurricane.....yada, yada, yada.

Posted by: IllTemperedCur at August 01, 2010 03:12 PM (9Lm5R)

23 I think I have a pretty good eye for fashion and I like it.

25 What dress?

Posted by: rdbrewer at August 01, 2010 03:37 PM (phwHZ)

26 Where the heck is the girl in that mound of crap.

Posted by: Comanche Voter at August 01, 2010 03:37 PM (ktYjH)

27 Looks a bit like Winnie (her face).

28

This costume asks a profound question.  That question is "Look up here, fool - do I have a great rack or what?"

The correct answer is "Yes, but as an offical judge I must use the "Charmin" test to make double-sure it is really all you, of course."

Posted by: sherlock at August 01, 2010 03:43 PM (jdXw+)

29 her outfit and earing kinda looks like sweet sexy Hannah Giles in one of those acorn videos.

25  Oh don't bullshit -- men don't have an eye for fashion; they have eyes for hot pieces of you know what.  The girl could be wearing a dress made out of Obumperstickers and you guys would find ways to say "well...it's not THAT bad";  you would be upset...but you would still not be completely repulsed.

Because that's the way men are...God love ya, you horny, horny bastards.

Posted by: unknown jane at August 01, 2010 03:56 PM (5/yRG)

31 That's a Project Runway "hot mess."

Posted by: arhooley at August 01, 2010 04:07 PM (6GjHP)

32 It's unconventional, but it's not that bad. Except for those friggin' boots.

33 The problem is what it's missing... A really Big KNIIIFFFE! And the animal skins of a Koala Bear, Kangaroo, Platypus, Tasmanian Devil, and a Dingo. And a necklace made up of empty Foster beer cans strung together with genuine Australian fishing line. And anything else they dig up from the nearest Australian dump...

Posted by: ray at August 01, 2010 04:21 PM (ykKLX)

34 I actually kind of like it, but then, I am a moronette and I like interesting fabric.  The fabrics in the skirt are Aboriginal designs.

Posted by: Just Another Cat at August 01, 2010 04:43 PM (Psozl)

35 She looks like Olivia Newton John.  Did England make anyone good looking a criminal and ergo send them off to australia.  Cause it seems like all the good looking people are in Australia and all the uglies stayed in Britain.

I like the outfit, it's different, original and if it supposed to be a costume, well it fits the bill.  Plus looks like she wisely designed it to show off her assets and camouflage what she thinks are her liabilities, if she has any.

Posted by: curious at August 01, 2010 05:16 PM (p302b)

36 Ditto!

Who give's a rat's ass what the costume looks like. Those knockers are gorgeous.

37 I can come up with something better for Miss USA

Posted by: Ulises Jorge Bido at August 01, 2010 06:11 PM (StjxX)

38 Put a fricken fruit hat on her and she's Conan Miranda

Posted by: Monger Mark at August 01, 2010 06:23 PM (eCLzF)

39 That is a beautiful outfit. And after she passes out all the complimentary hankies to the adoring crowd, it will be a SPECTACULAR outfit.

What the hell is up with you haters?

Posted by: TheGhostWhoWalks at August 01, 2010 06:42 PM (9tt+Z)

40 I see a beautiful smile and an awesome rack, not necessarily in that order.  The rest of it...oof.

Call it "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oy, oy, oyyy!"

Posted by: Moose4 at August 01, 2010 07:52 PM (ZN+Dd)

41 You can't just blame homosexuals for this ... this level of stupidity requires a committee.

Posted by: Kristopher at August 02, 2010 04:39 AM (kCEOg)

42 That girl is smoking hot, she'd look good in dingo skins.

Posted by: roy_batty at August 02, 2010 04:54 AM (X1CuD)

43

LOL, wut?

Seriously, even I see that as a disaster. Get her ass back out there in the swimsuit round and let's see what she's got under the skirt.

Posted by: SGT Dan at August 02, 2010 05:31 AM (GgXZc)

44

Hey does Michelle Antoinette know someone stole her skirt? or was this found in the back of a clown car?

[she IS a doll though]

Posted by: chuck in st paul at August 02, 2010 05:41 AM (adr25)

45 She's stunning, but why is she dressed as a Hokkaidan Flamenco dancer?

Posted by: Merovign, Strong on His Mountain at August 02, 2010 11:34 AM (bxiXv)

46 Crikey, it's gettin' so a sheila can't step outside without a bloody flash typhoon comin' by... So what did the outfit look like before the storm...?
