— Ace At Hot Air, Earl Pomeroy, who really should not be one of North Dakota's Representatives let alone its only Representative, is now running ads touting his votes with Bush.
Which vote, particularly? Oh, voting with Bush to expand Medicare.
Eight Years Of Failed Bush Policies
Kinda beginning to seem not like failed policies at all, huh?

Between Byron Dorgan's "Friends Of Angelo" issue, popular Republican Gov. John Hoeven running for the Senate this year, and the general political climate in this country right now, I don't think this guy could have gotten re-elected no matter what he did these past two years.

I think it was just the relentlessness of a biased news media and entertainment culture. You were just supposed to hate Bush. That's what all good-thinking people did. He was an imbecile, didn't you hear? He lied, didn't you know?
Sure, there were plenty of reasons to be disappointed if you were conservative or certainly if you were liberal, but the crap he got from the rest of the populace was incredible.

Why don't you throw some linkage to Gateway Pundit? He posted this story almost five hours before Hot Air.
Jim Hoft also linked to the same ABC source as Allahpundit, so that's no excuse. You gotta find a 12 step program or something to cure yourself from your internet incest addiction.

NPR's Carrie Johnson has learned that lawyer Nick Marsh took his own life over the weekend. Marsh was one of the lawyers who prosecuted former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens for corruption, a prosecution that failed amidst charges of misconduct. The Attorney General dropped that case, saying there were problems with sharing evidence with the defense.
The judge in the case appointed a special prosecutor to investigate whether the government had broken the law. Separately, the Justice department's Office of Professional Responsibility launched a probe of its own.
The investigation had been going on for more than a year and a report by the Special Prosecutor is expected in a few weeks. Marsh's lawyer, Bob Luskin, says he thought his client would not be charged. But apparently the strain of the investigation was just too much.

I never did better in my income than I did under Bush. I am now broke.. Thanks Obama!
Not sure what 8 years of failed policies mean.... Pretty damn good around America during Bush. 52 months of job growth with Bush.
Cant blame the mortgage mess on Bush.. same stuff went on under Clinton... he started it even. Bush warned congress 17 times about a mess in housing and was ignored or laughed at.

I think you're right in terms of participation by small donors (which has been down in higher ed, for example), but the biggest hit in terms of charitable giving dollars is based on what's happening with the "rich".
Charitable support of higher ed tracks with GDP and the stock market. Gifts for current use (such as those annual gifts a lot of us send our colleges) track to the GDP, while gifts for capital use (such as buildings and endowments) track to the stock market. (Those latter gifts tend to be from the wealthiest donors.)
Giving to higher ed declined from $31.6 B in FY2008 to $27.8 B in FY2009, the biggest type of gift (by purpose) that experienced decline was gifts to endowments (down 25%). Gifts to current use were only down 1%.

Posted by: George W Bush at September 27, 2010 02:08 PM (JNigo)
No, they are the next leaders into wonderful financial instruments like derivatives.
Funny you should mention derivatives, since it's well-known in higher ed circles that it was Harvard's fascination with these instruments that led to the cataclysmic crash of its endowment, resulting in them needing to sell off hard assets to pay the bills.
Harvard, that bastion of conservatives.
You would think that fact alone would keep Obama from choosing Larry Summers to help lead his economic team.
