— Dave in Texas Caught this from justkarl last night, where the DCCC is puttin their money where their mouth is.
So look and tell me, who's noticeably absent from the list morons? I mean, it's just an early buy, but like the man said, "follow the money."
I think the man said that. He was smoking and wearing a leisure suit though, and a tie as wide as my ass, so, it could be a dated reference. Maybe we should follow where the insults to the base are gettin tossed out by President Wonderful and Sheriff Joe on the campaign trail?
Keep in mind it's early, they've reserved ad time in other places, but no buys there yet. This is the week to watch.
ALSO: some more encouraging news via commenter CAC, Dan Webster has a 7 point lead over Alan "Sunshine" Grayson in FL-8.

well there's a lot of people not on the list:
nobody in TN where there are a bunch of competitive D districts
nobody in FL
nobody on the west coast
nobody in the upper midwest except for WI-7
nobody in TX at all
only a paltry sum in AR where 3 out of 4 districts are D
wow the D's have really abandoned a ton of districts

I see they are trying to save Kanjorski's seat in PA, he is running against Lou Barletta who has run against him 2 times in a row and lost, but looks to win this time.
You guys may recognize Barletta, he is the mayor of Hazelton PA, the town that instituted all of those anti illegal immigrant laws.
He is a hardass and would be a good pickup.

Will NBC &/or Matt Lauer ask about Obama's destruction of the DC voucher program for poor kids?
Of course not. That would mean actual honest reporting.
And NBC is a political arm of the Democrat party.
Is Matt Lauer an unprofessional stooge and a hack? You betcha.
****Obama did this as political payback to the corrupt Teacher's Union, a wholly owned subsidiary of the corrupt democrat party, the same political party that HATES school choice and LOVES to waste tax payer money on more of the same bad education that the NEA delivers year after year.

The former housekeeper for Meg Whitman -- the Republican candidate for Governor of California -- is about to make "controversial and explosive allegations about her former employer," TMZ has learned.
We're told the housekeeper has lawyered up with none other than Gloria Allred. The housekeeper and Allred will hold a news conference today in Gloria's office at 11 AM PT, "to tell how she suffered as a long-time, Latina household employee in Meg Whitman's home.

I predict that the big name House democrats who lose in Nov will not finish well in the lame duck session. They will vent and vent and vent ... it will be spectacle that will simply reinforce why they got kicked to the curb ... anyone with the slightest hope of running in 2012 will destroy their chances if they pull out the typical liberal talking points ...
Informal voter enforced term limits will save this country ....

Some points for the average joe
I am amazed that we even have a bill for this. NY "firemen" are already covered for illness that is job-related. This is just another money funnel to NYC.
The reason Republicans vote against it is it has been larded up with a Dem wish list of crap that is considered a poison pill to Republicans and the Dems want to bring it to the floor under a provision that allows no amendments to remove those poison pills. i.e. they have invoked a procedure that allows a filibuster in the House and they got one.
So there you have it. The bill is nothing more than a "catchy title" that allows the Dems to make headlines and gee, the MFM is glad to oblige.
Can you say government shutdown-II? Will it work this time?

Meanwhile, the DCCC is beefing up its ad buy in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., which could go to help Reps. Chris Carney (D-Pa.) and Kanjorski. It has already reserved more than $750,000 in the media market but has doubled that to $1.5 million, according to a GOP strategist.
They just started playing the Kanjorski ads heavy. He's in real trouble.
Carney's opponent shot himself in the foot so it looks like the Carney clown will keep his seat.

How the hell did Kasich (man he sucks) lose a 16 point lead over Strickland in only 2 weeks?
Are R votes going to the Libertarian candidate?
Why are all the Dem ads not stating their party? If you don't know the people, you would think that the Dem ads were actually Rep. candidates. Talking about small business, right to bear arms, lower taxes, etc.
Is it like that everywhere or just in Ohio?
Shit really pisses me off.

Yes, voting started yesterday in Ohio and they are already busing people in to vote early. (You can vote in person)
For the Pres. election more than 1/3 of all votes were early/absentee votes. So how can they announce who won without counting that many votes?
I really, really don't understand it. Can someone put me some knowledge? Please?

I hope you're right, but the people seem to have pretty hard time making the connections, or even remembering what's gone wrong for more than a few months at a time. And the Reps seldom seem to have a good grasp of how to exploit the lunacy of the Left. But if somebody on our side can figure out how to play the game by the nexy cycle, we might be in good shape again.
I'd love to see the Dems get a good crushing, by Reps who aren't all RINOs. Then maybe something could actually get done for once. Those narrow, so-called "majorities" we had in the recent past were not too useful for getting anything done, because of the various back stabbers in our midst.

So if Steyn Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, or Barney Frank feels the heat, they will starve other campaigns to fund their own, citing such excuses as the psychological importance of retaining their seat or historical significance or some such claptrap. Really though, it is just eating their own in an every-man-for-himself panic.
So, for example every dollar sent to Charles Lollar will tie up many DCCC dollars that might be spent in less visible races, while still helping Charles win.

The Quintiac poll put Kasich up by 16 two weeks ago. FOX poll put Kasich up one (margin of error) yesterday.
Why don't the candidates have to say their party on ads? Plus, the DNC is paying third parties to make the ads so the Dem label shows up no where in the ads anymore. Only 2 commercials have the DNC wording on bottom.

There always will be tightening to some degree as election day gets closer, and at least some of it is legitmate.
I've thought for a while that some pollsters change their models to tighten races "unexpectedly" as voting begins for at least two reasons: 1) Energize the base into voting when they see "momentum"; and, 2) Account for some of the voting fraud ahead of time, so that fraudulent results seem in the realm of possibility.
What is so ironic about the second point is that party internal polling is very accurate, but the Republicans never contest hugely fraudulent results. It was a battle I fought for a long, long time.

Owner of Scott Miracle Gro has ad out for Ted Strickland (Gov. Ohio):
link
The ad: "Listen," a 30-second TV commercial
Producer: Strickland for Governor
Where to see it: Most of Ohio's major media markets, including Columbus
Video: The ad opens with a shot of the Scotts Miracle-Gro sign at the entry to its Marysville plant and then features the company's chief executive, Jim Hagedorn, speaking in his office. The video alternates footage of Gov. Ted Strickland talking with workers in the plant and with Hagedorn speaking in his office. At one point, Strickland, with shirt sleeves rolled up, is talking with three workers, his arm around one of the worker's shoulders. The ad apparently was shot on two occasions, because Strickland starts out in the plant wearing a white shirt and ends up in a blue shirt.
Script: (Hagedorn): "We're an Ohio company and we've been here since 1868. Ted Strickland understands the issues that business people deal with. He's made it easier for us to hire people in Ohio. What the governor was able to do was help us keep our jobs and add our jobs here in this state.
"Why would Jim Hagedorn a Republican support a Democrat? Because he's shown a commitment to our business, he's shown a commitment to growing businesses in the state of Ohio. Ted's found a way to get the job done."
HERE's The kicker:
Hagedorn is a registered voter in New York, not Ohio.Posted by: momma at September 29, 2010 05:48 AM (penCf)

The Tea Kettle (Friedman's pet name for the Tea Party, clever, ain't it?) movement can’t have a positive impact on the country because it has both misdiagnosed America’s main problem and hasn’t even offered a credible solution for the problem it has identified. How can you take a movement seriously that says it wants to cut government spending by billions of dollars but won’t identify the specific defense programs, Social Security, Medicare or other services it’s ready to cut — let alone explain how this will make us more competitive and grow the economy?
If Friedman was paying attention, there has been all sorts of Tea-Party generated ideas on where to cut gov't spending. As for explaining how limited government spending grows the economy, that should be self-evident.
And how can you take seriously a movement that sat largely silent while the Bush administration launched two wars and a new entitlement, Medicare prescription drugs — while cutting taxes — but is now, suddenly, mad as hell about the deficit and won’t take it anymore from President Obama? Say what? Where were you folks for eight years?
There was plenty of bitching about the deficitof the Bush years, again something Friedman would know if he wasn't so busying fapping it to a flow-chart of the Chinese system. And people are definitely paying attention when the deficient goes from 400 billion a year to 1.6 trillion a year!

Kratos, as Ace said earlier.
It's funny how the left, like Tom MaoZe Friedman think the only way to cut spending is by cutting the third rail spending entirely. Social Security and Medicare can be reformed, they don't have to be completely abandoned.
Also, these are the same people who accepted "Hope and Change" as a credible answer to all the ills facing america in 2008.
Now slogans and broad based ideas are unacceptable.

Like beauty pageants, cheerleading, accounts for many academic scholarships given to women. If they made it not a sport now then it won't be covered under the law that says you need to have equal male/female teams with equal funding. Hence many schools will drop cheerleading and the girls will be short changed. It's anti woman.

I wondered how she was being classified as a RINO with no record.
Personally I use ACU ratings as a general criteria and modify that with standing on a few key issues like adherence to the Constitution, gun control, health care bill, amnesty, and crap and tax.
An ACU rating of < 80 in the past 6 years gets you RINO, however just above 80 and support for commies on those issues above also gets you RINO.
Less than 50 gets you DIABLO status.

Vic, she isn't a private figure suddenly stepping into the spotlight and giving her first press release, but I get y'alls point that she hasn't voted on anything. I've been sufficiently chastised. BTW, my original point was that she would be more moderate and less conservative in any other given time and would be an 'R' word.

Fuck that shit, he's been an absolute disaster for the state as far as the economy. His ad campaign has been a major clusterfuck, spending all his time trying to tie Kasich to Wall Street and then coming on to say that he's in favor of Ohioans. Oh really? Then he had some ad about some green company in the Cleveland area that I haven't even heard of; lying out his ass about how many jobs that fucking scam shop will produce.
You're right that Taft was a fucking goof; hell, we haven't had a decent governor since Rhodes. Strickland's like a Celeste that can keep his wang in his pants and doesn't have a lesbian wife,

Boxer: fucking awful.
Fiorina: better than fucking awful. don't know how much, don't care.
If those were my choices I know what I'd do.
Completely agree. Didn't mean to cause a ruckus this morning.

LOL, Kommie Karl Kameron just called Fiorinna a "hard conservative Tea Party candidate".
This guy is a real piece of work.

Just wanted to comment on the tightening of Ohio Polls. I'm not sure I by it. For one, Rass came out today at +8 R, which is up 1 from earlier this month. Second, the polls showing Kasich only up + 1 are first time polls, and while I haven't been able to find Party ID breakdowns for the Foxnews, Reuters, or UoC polls, I did find one for the CBS poll.
The CBS poll has a party breakdown of 33D/28R/39I. Which is absurd. Ohio's PartyID breakdown in 08 exit polls was 39D/31R/30I, 40D/37R/23I in 06, and 35D/40R/25I in 04. So in esscense, CBS/NYT is predicting that republican turnout will be the worst it has been since 04 compared to D and I's, despite republican's being the most enthusiastic to vote. They game it by bumping up the Indy vote % to a unprecedented level, and despite the fact that Kasich is up 30pts with indys, it's not the 90% support he gets from R's. I'm willing to bet the other polls with this type of results are similar wishcasting / oversampling.

Thanks for the explanation. I was really confused.

Which is a problem we really need to address. If the R brand is to mean anything we should be pushing for several important reforms.
1. Remove as many RINOs as possible because they dilute the brand and hurt all Rs. Even if it means we lose a couple of marginal seats. Does having the Maine Sisters vote for the leadership position outweigh the damage they do to all other R's from more average voters buying the Glenn Beck "there isn't a difference between the parties" bull?
2. To accomplish #1 we have to push for closed primaries. For example, in 2012 every open primary state is going to be overrun with Ds picking the best RINO for us. Operation Chaos in reverse.
3. We need to insist on party loyalty. By law, contract and custom we need to insist that candidates who run on our label support the nominee and not bail when they lose. We need to encourage voters to do the same although of course we can only use custom to enforce it.
