I certainly hope this really awful music post isnt a precursor to a certain mad pony-tailed gentlemans blog and a sign of things to come like Overnight Life Guard Stand.

I remember the time I was furiously reloading my musket, dropped the minie ball down the barrel, shoved down my ramrod, raised the gun, pulled back the hammer just as a Union soldier ran up on me. I pulled the trigger, but no shot, the minie ball just rolled out and fell to the ground. I forgot the gun powder. The Union soldier and I just started laughing. Then I rammed my bayonet in his eye.

Dang Straights, I actually yell at neighborhood kids to get off my lawn. A few days ago, I had to shoot it at a pair of chihuahuas doing the wild thing in front of my porch, till I could get at them with a hose. Chihuahuas can look ridiculous enough, but I swear these two had even dumber looks on their faces than usual.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy came out in late 89. I know this because my youngest was born in 90, and the little shithead kid next door spent all day with his window open, smoking weed and playing it on loop. I hold him partially responsible for the bad habits my son has. Wonder if that could be used as a legal defense? Hmmm.
I just want Auto tune to die a quick, quick death. I guess its ok if you spent all your time in dance clubs, but sober and w/o high heels, that makes me wanna shank someone.

Oh, and did you all know that Sarah Palin and Bristol were on Oprah today? A new show. I haven't watched it yet, it's in the DVR.

Not much experience with music vids, but these are the top five things that just weird-ed me out:
1) The white-suited spiked dancers looked like they were designed from a Silent Hill game.
2) Lady Gaga's eyes are freaking huge.
3) There are several people in the video that have metal "thingies" as if they were once assimilated by the Borg and then rehabilitated.
4) "Vertical stick", "Free-bitch, baby!"?
5) Femi-bot get-up at the end.
And that's just the top five, the whole vid is whack!

This tune is a fav - puts me a an AoSHQ state of mind.
+1000 There ain't a bad song on that whole record. I still have the record in its original cellophane, untouched, never mounted on the turntable (remember those?).

Didn't it though. Men and boys the world over rejoiced during the credits, and I don't think you need me to reference why.

Oh yeah, I remember those days fondly!! So disappointed in the movie. I think it would've been better if they had done like a 80's time piece instead of modernizing it. Music was a big part of the TV show and I cant' really remember anything from the movie. I usually like Micheal Mann movies but that one didn't work out so well.

Wow - a treasure! Glad to see it's in the hands of someone who appreciates it. That was truly the best album Dire Straits ever produced. I feel they are underappreciated.

It was a vibe that could not be recaptured - I think it would have failed even if were set in the same decade.

No, they'll be played by alternative lifestyle types with skin lighteners.

I thought that the Conan remake was going to be more in line with the books, and Jones' Thulsa Doom character wasn't in the books?

WAY under-appreciated, IMO. I rank it as the ultimate recording. Every song has a special meaning to me. Very well produced. And chicks dig it!!

He's not bad... just can't see him as Conan. The Ahnold has ruined me as to how Conan should look: BIG. (Side note, Red Sonja was an awesome movie. Why are they remaking it?)

You should check out his life story if you get a minute. It's really interesting, and a bit tragic. He had a correspondence with Lovecraft when he was starting out, too.

reich - I must admit ignorance of those bands you referenced. Prolly won't be much help. Maybe you could derive some enjoyment from Funker Vogt. A sample of one I like (though the youtube sound is not optimum) is here:
I like a couple of their older albums, like Revivor, and We Came to Kill.

I know autechre, not the other...
I used to have a huge techno collection, so you may already know a lot of this stuff, but have you checked out u-ziq? I usually liked mine with a bit of drum n' bass...David Holmes album 'this film's crap let's slash the seats' was in my player for months. Speedjack, Sabres of Paradise, Underworld (you have to know them)...or sigur ros if you're in a really mellow mood...
I'd have to dig out my collection, I know I'm forgetting a shitload of stuff that I used to listen to all the time.
