More on Messaging
— Dave in Texas

Boy this messaging excuse is all over the news isn't it?

In a letter obtained by POLITICO, Reid tells his colleagues that the party needs to "better integrate our legislative- and message-crafting functions into a coordinated nucleus managing policy, press and politics."

I'm a suit, so I think I can throw around that corporate bullshit act as well as anybody, but Reid is showing me some game here.

"I have asked Senator Schumer, whose communications abilities and tactical skills we all greatly respect, to lead this effort as chairman of the new office."

As ace pointed out earlier today, the problem isn't the messaging, it isn't the brand. The message we heard from Democrats was "fuck you", and the response from the voters was "Oh, were you finished? Well, allow us to retort."

We got the message just fine. But for a while they're going to insist the problem they lost big is "bad messaging." And Chuck Schumer's gonna fix it.

This is the stage of grief known as dem.jpgenial.

117 Define the problem:

As a lying traitorous Communist apparatchik piece of shit, I am offended that the United States does not yet have a command economy.

Measure key aspects:

I have rammed through many socialist pieces of legislation, sapping the productivity and self-reliance of the American people, slicing the balls off the American economy, and strangling job creation.

Analyze:

My Kafka-esque Marxist bureaucracy-increasing shithead instincts are unflappable.

Improve:

Small pockets of economic dynamism remain in the United States. Win even greater supermajority in 2010 to snuff these out.

Control:

WTF? You fucking retards didn't vote for economic suicide despite being urged to by Olivia Wilde and assorted Hollywood dipshits!? Someone get ACORN on the horn.

122 Reid tells his colleagues that the party needs to "better integrate our legislative- and message-crafting functions into a coordinated nucleus managing policy, press and politics." I'll swear on a stack of Congressional Records that Reid's message came out of one of those online corporate marketing gibberish generators. Here, I just made some: Democratic Party is the industry leader of global infrastructures. The process management factor can be summed up in one word: e-politics. Imagine a combination of welfare and green tech. Think shovel-ready. Think short-term. But don't think all three at the same time. Imagine a combination of unions and affirmative action. If you seize compellingly, you may have to leverage virtually. The metrics for electoral supervising are more well-understood if they are not voter-defined. What does the term "super-user-centric metrics" really mean? Think bricks-and-clicks. Think infinitely reconfigurable. Think visionary. What does it really mean to strategize "macro-proactively"? We will actualize the power of wireless, collaborative branding to deliver. The capacity to reintermediate mega-mega-virally leads to the capacity to legislate vertically.

126 Yeah, put Shumer out front with "messaging," that's the ticket!

He is such an arrogant and annoying whiner that he will make us nostalgic to listen to Reid again, but America needs him, Pelosi, Obama, and Biden out there.  Get to know him!

Posted by: Adjoran at November 16, 2010 06:00 PM (VfmLu)

127 This is similar to the House Democrats creating the position for Clyburn.  Schumer was the one to likely go after Harry's job had he lost the election.  Wouldn't have shocked me if he had done it anyways.  This is throwing the dog a bone to keep him in line.

Posted by: dyslexic pervert at November 16, 2010 06:26 PM (eQPq+)

131

Reid couldn't have been directing this pack of doubletalk at the common man because Reid thinks most of us aren't smart enough to understand that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" really means "the right of the states to keep militias." Most likely this is an effort by a bullshit artist to wow other bs artists whom he feels superior to.

Posted by: mallfly at November 16, 2010 06:49 PM (W6bJb)

134 They've been saying this since Carter.  "We must not have gotten our message across!"  No, the message comes across loud and clear.

Dems only get elected when they lie, and when the MFM shields them.  Sometimes even the media can't do miracles (John Kerry was not elected president).

"better integrate our legislative- and message-crafting functions into a coordinated nucleus"

Cause what they had before the election was a spastic colon.   Now all the Dems have left in congress is a nucleus of Pelosi puppets.  We'll see if they know coordination from chicken plucking.

Posted by: Speller at November 16, 2010 08:46 PM (J74Py)

140 I heartily approve of making Schumer the face of the Democrats message.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at November 16, 2010 10:27 PM (wUDQ0)

141 It's true...the Dems REALLY think that they just didn't sell their "accomplishments" hard enough. My moonbat brother hit me with that one after the election. I asked him to speak slowly and describe what exactly they accomplished that was beneficial to anyone not in power. A true believer, he told me that the Hellcare bill will be fantastic, the bailouts were needed, Obama is great leader who is frustrated by the fact hat he's just so much smarter than everyone, etc. Let them keep telling themselves that. Also, the letters to the editor at the local fishwraps have been a scream since November 2nd. Comedy gold.

142

"better integrate our legislative-and message-crafting functions into a coordinated nucleus."    hummm.  Lets break this down.

"better integrate"- better mix (that was easy)

"our legislative"- our democrat commie pinko new laws  (such as gut the military, confiscate all 401k's, and raise taxes on anyone with a job..)

"and message-crafting functions"- lying  (gut the military becomes- everyone will love us without a military so no use for one.  Confiscate all 401k's becomes-we merely borrow it and put iou's in a lock box.  Raise taxes on anyone with a job becomes-with exceptions of government workers and unions of course...but we need the extra taxes for the childreeeeen!)

So broken down it comes out: " better mixing our democrat commie pinko new laws by lying."

Great, more of the same.

And Chuck Schumer is a putz.  I loathe him.

143 Better messaging will make the unemployed forget who was in charge.  Try these:

It's all the fault of the evil underwhelming minority of Republicans who refused to go along.

If we only had ACORN on the job, none of this would have happened.

Barney Frank is taking a voluntary shift as a TSA groper.  What more can your government do to you?

146 This is a good thing.

Imagine you are at war, and you have just subjected the enemy to a devastating attack.

Now then, do you want the enemy's response to be incompetent, or do you want them to hit back effectively?

For the Dims to claim that they need new and better lies to hide their bad ideas is only going to fool their own followers.

For the Dims to make this claim only further damages their own brand.  We should help them along with this, but not so much so that they realize their mistake.

Of course even if they did realize that this strategy was wrong, they'd still be up to no good.  Bad people with bad ideas.

Posted by: Lee Reynolds at November 17, 2010 06:27 AM (/gY4D)

147 So the problem with Dems' messaging was that they didn't have one of the most liberal Jewish Senators out there making a case for one of the most leftwing administrations and Congresses? Sounds like a plan.
