Only one thing better than concealed carry.  OPEN carry.  I would love to live in a place where folks walk around with their shootin' irons clearly out on their hip.  I hear that in Arizona it's pretty normal to walk around openly carrying, but I've not been there myself to confirm it.  Here in Michigan it's supposedly legal, but you can rest assured that the cops will harrass you.

At least we have one area where the Left may actually fear to tread for a while.  Perhaps one or two of our rights will endure past the Obastard administration.

Depends on how blue it is.  MI is a blue state, but concealed carry is wildly popular here, and we have a "shall issue" law for pistol permits.  The cops are required to give you a pistol permit if you apply for one, unless you're disqualified for legal reasons.

Speaking of older stories, here's one thats apropos of nothing..maybe.

Narcissism Epidemic Spreads Among College Students (I cringe at "epidemic", but whatever).

Quote from the story:  "Narcissism has increased among Americans over the past 15 years, a joint study from San Diego State University (SDSU) and the University of South Alabama has concluded. The results suggest that the United States is poised to experience social problems as younger narcissists age and move into positions of power."

When I first got out of the Navy and returned to GA it was both open and concealed (w/ permit).  We walked around all the time with open carry even though we had permits. It was hard to conceal a model 19 with a 6" barrel.

We stopped in a bank one afternoon to get some money after spending a few days in the swamp. Both my two brothers and me all had open pistols on while walking in to the bank. We didn't even think about it.

35 13:  the divide isn't between red and blue states on the gun issue.  It's between the most extreme leftist states (less than ten of them) and everybody else.  Basically, the states where gun control might have a chance are CA, NY, MA, CT, RI, MD, IL, and HI.  Everywhere else, gun control is about as popular as pneumonic plague.  Even in those states, it's only a few big cities that support it.  If you were put down in a random spot in California and said you supported gun control, you'd most likely lose your teeth.

I've carried nearly every day of my life for the last 12 years (not a cop).  .40 or .45

Never pulled my weapon one time.  Ever.

Never shown it to anyone.  Ever.

Reached for it twice, mostly just to make sure I had it ready if needed.

It's a nice tool to have, and one that is definitely necessary, but thankfully almost never utilized.

Of course it has made me more careful around firearms, and carelessness is one of the main causes of firearm deaths.  As more people carry, it is axiomatic that firearm deaths will decline.

Also, an armed society is a polite society.

Hi Jaimo....No, I went to Bridgeport.  They only had one guy processing which was part of the problem.  I was the only women in line when I walked in.  Although, one came out of the back after getting her picture taken and I think one walked in after me but she was with a guy so I don't know if one and/or both were getting their permit.

You may want to check your paper work if you took the class last summer.  There is a time limit on how long you have to get your town and then state permit.

One thing you have to consider is that the extreme Left generally identifies with criminals, and often like to imagine themselves as part of the criminal world.  This is one major reason they support gun control:  not because they think it will control crime, but because they know it won't.

This is also why they are trying to free Mumia instead of finding some guy in Kansas who was wrongfully convicted of killing his girlfriend.  They don't want to help defendents prove their case; they want to free real murderers.

Exactly.  Bird of a feather flock together.  That is why we must never disarm.  The Left is always, without exception, a collection of thugs.  This has been true in every nation on earth.  There has never been a left wing that didn't go violent eventually, and they've racked up a hell of a death toll over the last century.  Disarming us is just their way of planning ahead.  An armed public is the one and only reason why we still have elections (albeit nearly illegitimate ones due to leftist tampering).

Actually it needs to start way earlier - age 16 at the oldest.  I assume your post was meant to be trollish snark, but the fact is that this would help things along nicely.  Either the crime would die down, or it would dramatically escalate for a short time and then die down once the head count in the slums was reduced.  Either way, polite society wins.

Dude.  The American people heard the anti-gun case and rejected it.

The American people love guns.

The American people love the NRA.

The American people hate gun-fearing pussies like you.

Deal with it.

On second thought, don't deal with it.  Obama's been smart enough so far not to touch gun control with a ten-foot pole.  Maybe if you and the rest of the anti-gun 20% can get him to change his mind, the GOP can go up to 350 seats in the next Congress.  So please, keep pushing the gun control button and pissing off the pro-gun 75% majority.

(Since I know you're going to quarrel with my math, the other 5% are undecided.  Actually, 20% is probably overstating the anti-gun vote, if anything).

58 I opened carried some in Az in the Tucson area and nobody batted an eye. That was usually on the way 4 wheeling in snake country so I carried my .357 with snake shot. Normally I carried concealed for self defense as it is safer because you don't have to worry about retention as much. When you open carry and should use a retention holster like the cops where now. Also when the bad guys don't know who is armed then anyone can be armed and it results in a force multiplier.

Anywho, since it is so easy to get a CCP in NE. Pa., the open carry crowd is pretty much laughed at, and the headlines they get (not their fault at all) are seen as a bad thing for the "shall issue" movement.

BTW, can we stop calling it "liberal" to support fascist gun control laws?  I realize that "liberal" means the opposite of what it used to, but there is nothing "liberating" about beating up an old woman in Katrina-era New Orleans and taking her guns, leaving her at the mercy of roving criminal gangs.  There is nothing "liberating" about burning down a house with 80 Seventh-Day Adventists, many of them children, because of some technical violation of unconstitutional gun laws.

Also, when you say "liberal" it gives the wrong impression that these people are well-meaning but impractical.  In fact, they are evil, stunted little people, filled with hate for people who have the courage to arm themselves in order to defend their families, and take that responsibility off the back of society--a courage the anti-gun Nazis lack.  There is nothing liberal about these pigs--only evil.

80 We need an open season on those trespassing bastards.

The last time someone pulled a gun on that trash and held them for authorities they got sued and lost their ranch.

But no, the ex-FBI agent on Fox thinks you are a nut case if you say we have lost freedoms here in the U.S.

Just to clarify, CA open carry is only legal as unloaded open carry.

Unless you are a licensed hunter (of course) or fisherman.

87 What?  Unloaded guns are legal to open-carry in CA?  What the hell good are they if they're unloaded?

88 CCP's or any kind of permits for firearms are unconstitutional. Nowhere in the 2nd Amendment does it say you have to have a permit to own or carry a firearm. Gun permits are a legacy of the "Jim Crow" laws of the old south. You can thank the Demoncrats for that.

89 "Liberal" means the opposite of what it used to, but there is nothing "liberating" about beating up an old woman in Katrina-era New Orleans and taking her guns, leaving her at the mercy of roving criminal gangs. Time & Space Business etc
