It is odd. Rock is generally libertarian in its outlook, but most of the rock established is hard left/authoritarian.

The left wants to tell you what you can eat, drink, drive, say, write, sing, etc.

Though the one out is that the left is generally ok with currently illegal drugs and having sex with who you want...at least for now.

I am half way through it and I have cried (bawled really) several times.  When you read it, it actually feels like he is talking to you.  It is an amazing book, really, and I hate memoirs. I think the reason I love it so much is because you KNOW he loved America (even though he made huge mistakes) and he LOVES/RESPECTS our soldiers.  I really, really, REALLY miss having a President that loves America, Her troops, and Her people. 

Almost 2 years under Obama actually makes America feel like a different country.  I actually tell my kids, 'I remember when our leaders loved America.'

If you haven't read his book, do so.  It really is an interesting, easy to read, breathe of fresh American-loving air.

That's not the way I understand it.

He does not go blind because of the sexual abuse heaped on him by Uncle Ernie.

He goes blind when as a child he witnesses his mom and her lover murder his father...WW2 RAF Pilot Captain Walker...when the presumed-dead officer returns home unexpetedly to find Tommy's mom and lover going at it. 

Tommy's Mom and her BF kill Tommy's dad, and in an attempt to cover their tracks, they shout at Tommy that he did not see or hear what happened to his Father and he must never speak about what he knows is the truth.

THEN Tommy goes deaf dumb and blind.

The abuse by Uncle Ernie and Cousin Kevin come after he is already DD&B.

So I'm eating prime rib last night for the first time in a long time and I bite down and hear a crack! immediately followed by excruciating pain in one of my teeth, the kind that produces an instant massive headache up the entire left side of my face.  Today I get to my dentist and it turns out my tooth had indeed cracked, possibly down to the nerve, in which case I'll need a root canal.  The dentist gives me One, Two, Three, FOUR shots of Novocaine before the tooth is numb enough to do anything with, cheerfully telling me, "Boy, is YOUR jaw gonna ache later on!"

That was at 3:00 this afternoon - it's 6:44 here in CT, and that side of my mouth is still numb.  They told me they think there's a good chance the crack didn't reach all the way to the nerve, so the filling they put in may be all I need.  I'll find out once the Novocaine completely wears off and the nerve has a chance to calm down (it was approaching what he called "hot" status, that can't be numbed regardless of how much Novocaine is used).  Jeesh, I hope the next time I drink water I won't want to jump up to the ceiling, like I wanted to when that damned tooth cracked...

BTW, Townsend was never accused of being a "pedophile". They said he accessed a child porn web site. He said it was for project research as he was active in the fighting of internet child porn.

The police searched his computers and home and did not find anything so he was never charged.
