Newton MA: hey, we want those released Gitmo detainees
— Purple Avenger

Hey, its a MA news kinda day...

Industrial. Strength. Stupid.

...The US bans former detainees from entering the country, but members of Newton's Board of Aldermen want to change that. They're proposing a resolution to Congress to allow cleared detainees into the US...

What could possibly go wrong? I'm sure there are probably dumber things...like keeping a replicator as a pet, or sticking your junk into a garbage disposal.

1 Sounds like something a college student council would do.  Hope Newton is proud.

2 Or lighting a bomb off between your legs that wasn't made correctly!

3 I wonder if the good state of MA is going to offer to rent them a big van and take them shopping at the closest feed & fertilizer store.

4 Geez, these guys angling for "Berkeley of the East" 'honors'?

Or voting Democrat.

7 What's a replicator?

Maybe he meant a velociraptor.

8 Heh. The Rothenberg Political Report finally got around to calling the MA senate race a toss-up. Ya think?

9 Newton is home to a lot of the "Educated Class" that can't afford to live in Cambridge/Somerville or feel a burning desire to fight traffic on I-90 in the morning..  Also, you can have a backyard out there.  It's adjacent to Wellesley and Chestnut Hill (Boston College).  That should help you get a feel for the likely make-up of it's city council.

10 Perfect timing to remind "Massachusettes" voters how stupid and dangerous the Democrats are.

11 Whether you buy into Darwinism or not, one can only hope that the utter lack of a sense of self-preservation displayed by liberals will hasten their extinction.

12 I think Michelle Obastard has been dumping toxic sewage compost into Newton's water supply.

Replicators are just robots who unionized.

They are from StarGate.

14 Oh, please, there are plenty dumber things than inviting terrorists to your town.  Like paying their room and board and explosive bills with welfare ... oh, wait a minute, the gummint would probably do that.  OK, how about catching grizzly bears and releasing them on main street?  See, there IS something dumber!

22 Here's a compromise since they want these guys there. Release them at 30,000 ft above Newton with no chutes.

23 Newton North, apparently now with gilded toilets.

$200 million dollars?

24 I'd rather move the town of Newton to Gitmo.

Posted by: progressoverpeace at January 14, 2010 09:49 AM (A46hP)

25 Release them at 30,000 ft above Newton with no chutes.

As God is my witness, I thought terrorists could fly.

Posted by: Arthur Carlson at January 14, 2010 09:51 AM (debrG)

26 I'm OK with this.

This "Gitmo detainees are harmless lovable fuzzballs wronged by evil Bush" meme isn't going to die until some "educated-class" bleeding head moonbat in a "good neighborhood" loses a head to one of 'em.

And even then, I think it's going to depend on the neighborhood.

27 Remember, Newton is the city that has sent Barney Frank to Washington for the last 100 years. What must these people be like?

Have they confirmed if the terrorists can be registered to vote for Coakley by election day?

33

I know it's just an illustration (and a pretty damn good one), but I gotta object about the junk in the disposal being dumber.  At least that removes your chance of perpetuating your stupidity in offspring, and you're only hurting yourself.  Accepting terrorists kills *other* people.

Posted by: Peter at January 14, 2010 10:07 AM (lAADn)

34 This is all about getting their hands on more federal money to "house" these guys.  If you let them in, you'll get more cash.

38 Geez, that would really ruin a great marathon.  Boston Marathon goes right through Newton.  That's where all the fun hills start.

I'm glad you guys explained what a replicator is.  I was thinking of the machines in Star Trek that make "Earl Grey tea -- hot".

Maybe some crazy ranchers can form a lobby to get the detainees released into their custody.  They could call it the Brotherhood to Acclimate those No longer at Gitmo, or BANG for short.  Rumors that BANG are a most dangerous game style hunting club are unsubstantiated.

Newton.. which lately has become something of a statewide laughing stock for its absurd decision to tear down a multimillion dollar high school building that's only 35 years old...and replace it with the most expensive school ever ever built in these parts.

44

OK, here we go. Shovel ready stimulus.

1. We build a big-ass Berlin Wall style barrier around Newton, Mass.

2.We then release ALL the Gitmo detainees on the moonbat townsfolk.

3. We throw in knives, loaded AK's, and Korans over the wall.

4. UAV feed of resulting chaos put on Fox News, PPV cable, etc.

5. PROFIT!!!!!!!

50 Newton evidently didn't get it's name from Sir Isac.

Didn't a couple of those 9/11 flights originate in MA? Talk about a musket to the junk movement.

51 Newton, its a nice and outrageously overpriced suburb outside of Boston for the (senior) professors and doctors and professional types that don't want to live in the city.

Nope.  They want him living there a free man.
