NFL Moron Pick Em - Week 1
— Dave in Texas

Got the results early today from our co-commissioners, Ben and CDR M. Here's how bad you people suck:

10 jed
10 mr.wizard
9 trailertrash
9 O-bam FAIL Smart Set
9 conservative in the city
9 Reggie Bush's Birth Cert
9 Iowa Amy
9 MP40
9 sTevo
9 BigBensRapeKit
9 Dr Spank
9 Diego's Dogs
9 Lok'tar Ogar
9 alrightthen

Everybody else, 8 or fewer.

The only thing I have to add is Wade Phillips' opening game team preparation skills are a lot like Meghan McCainÂ’s prose. Confusing, incoherent, and mind-numbingly stupid. Also he has bigger tits.

So you're saying he's a victim of discrimination or something?

humorously enough the NYT has a glowing review of the book.

I think the review Ace linked to yesterday was freaking hilarious. I highly suggest everyone read it.

I think  I read somewhere Alex Barron is the most penalized player in the league in the past few years.

And yet he is starting for Dallas.

This doesn't need to be said, but there's a vast disparity on CNBC morning show between Michele Caruso-Cabrera and Erin Burnett.

There truly are booms and busts.

That's cause we cut Flozell "False Start" Adams.

You gotta have some consistency in the offensive line.  Barron fills an important role, stalling whatever drive we might be ginning up, and giving the rest of the team an extra 55-70 yards to make up each game.

Same.  Shanahan is a great coach, particularly on opening drives and opening day.  Especially after a year lay off with something to prove.

My diversion, these days is to go to Teaparty rallys. Teaparty meetings. I go door to door for Teaparty candidates. I an spending all week doing telephone contact surveys for the GOP. Football has taken on the aura of unimportance.

44 #41 Ehrlich is going to coast to a 75-25 win in Maryland. The only excitement is Delware. Hell maybe even New York. Good to see McMahon now within 6 of Blummenthal- according to Quinnipiac (which leans left about 1-2 points)- thats a 4 point improvement in a little over a month. Delaware goes off the table, we have a shot in Connecticut. Look on the bright side people.

Ehrlich is going to coast to a 75-25 win in Maryland.

That's a relief.  I couldn't find any polls yesterday and I know Palin was doing robocalls for the other guy.

I have an old h.s. friend on the MoCo county council who's up for re-election today.  He's been whining for several weeks about all the effort he's put into campaigning.  I hate to tell him that some of us who work (or worked in my case) in the private sector have performance reviews bi-annually or even monthly.  I think that'd make him melt.

He's an old friend, but a total Progressive asshole so I am hoping he'll be unemployed soon.  Given what I read in the WaPo, he and a couple of others are being held responsible for a 45% budget increase over the past few years.  It'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

Posted by: Y-not at September 14, 2010 05:49 AM (osFsP)

49 Pecos, I hear you on Red Zone ch.  I was stoked when Cox Cable finally added it this year.  I called them everyday until they added it.  Must have channel even though Cox made it a bit pricey at $40 for the season.  Comcast only charged $5 a month for it last year.

Posted by: CDR M at September 14, 2010 05:49 AM (JSetw)

50 #58 The robocalls went out during the Ravens-Jets game. The most conservative parts of maryland are east of the patuxtent river , and north-to-west of frederick. The big regions are Ravens territory (with a pocket of Steelers turds in Washington County) Yeah, big failure on her part. Much like the Jets... I have no problem with Murphy- but Ehrlich beating OMalley would be just fucking awesome after 2006. He has the ground game, widespread supporters and groundtroops to fight MoM. Go Bad Hair Bob!

CDR M, that's right, the Valu Rite Hiccups.  I dominate due to the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing.  Further enhancing my suckitude, I am twelve hours out of sync being in Asia.  I didn't know how to draft, I don't know how to bench people, I only have one QB (named Vince) and I expect to be stomped every week.  I am a suitable target for ridicule.

Some are born mediocre, some achieve mediocrity and some have mediocrity thrust upon them.

54 The most conservative parts of maryland are east of the patuxtent river , and north-to-west of frederick.

Yeah, we looked at a job for Mr. Y-not in "southern MD" (what I used to think was the eastern shore).  It looked almost palatable.  (I grew up in Prince George's and Howard counties.)

I was amazed to find that MD has managed to screw up its budget.  I know they haven't had some of the bad unemployment that the rest of the country has had b/c of the federal jobs.  It takes a special kind of stupid to gut your state with that advantage going for you.

Anyway, we wound up in UT, which is working out well so far.

Posted by: Mr. Dave at September 14, 2010 08:54 AM (pcJe3)

70 Mr. Dave.  You can do trades.  I can't access the league from work (damn government) but it should be as simple as clicking on another teams player and then clicking a button to offer up a trade.  That being said, it has to be approved by the other owner's in the league.  I noticed you had a large number of defenses.  What are you looking to add to your team?

Posted by: CDR M at September 14, 2010 09:08 AM (cqZXM)

71 9 or 10 points is pretty good against the spread especially when you consider there were 3 pushes. I was 9-4-3, that's crack money right there.

72 CDR M. I'd like a QB and a RB.  I'm a UT grad but I didn't mean to get both (and only) Vince and Cedric.

Posted by: Mr. Dave at September 14, 2010 09:19 AM (pcJe3)

73 You should go after Vick if he's still available.  RB is a bit tougher.  My 2nd QB is Ben the Raper so he's no use to you now and I'm keeping Rodgers!  My RB's are average.
