Something with your morning coffee, a little bit of a stir created by Sheriff Joe this week in Manchester NH, telling the Dem base to stop bitching already.

He said Democrats can win both races if they draw clear distinctions between themselves and their Republican opponents, and he urged Democrats to "remind our base constituency to stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives. This president has done an incredible job. He's kept his promises."

I don't find it all that controversial, he's referring to their legislative accomplishments and not any actually positive results when he says Obama kept all his promises (except things like *cough*Gitmo*cough*). Besides, Obama's got them anyway, if Dems can wake up enough of them to go vote on Nov. 2. So he says go out there and insult them a little, because for the base they just need to avoid a depressed turnout.

Joe's kinda funny in that "crazy uncle who keeps pulling his pants off" sorta way.

MORE of the same from Obama to the base: Your apathy is "inexcusable".

Suck it up, buttercup.

3 Actually, someone in the GOP needs to figure out how to get Mourning in America on every TV in the land on a hourly basis during Prime Time.  Are you better off now then under Dubya!

5 I like how the President  promised to closed Gitmo within 1 year on day 1 of his presidency.  That and the ban on lobbyists in his adminstration. So, yes, he kept his promises, wait, what?

6 Damn, slipped out of the top with 24 points.  This was a wacky weekend for upsets.

I did rise from the cellar in the AoSHQ fantasy league at least. . . .

7 At least he kept his promise to veto the first bill with earmarks sent to his desk and he did, wait, what? Oh yeah, broke that one too.

Slow Joe is following the political advice of John F'ing Kerry - tell the voters they are teh stupid, vote for D!

12 Memo to the White House:  Best possible strategy is to have VP Biden campaign in every state between now and Nov.  Maximum TV exposure.   At every opportunity, remind voters of bail outs, government motors, high taxes, crippling  deficits, Obamacare, communists on the supreme court, and all other Dem successes.  Make sure all understand that voting for dems means more of the same.

What emerges in the magazine story is a stern, lecturing tone from Obama.

That will energize people Obama - lecturing to the voters and your base like a no-accomplishment academic hack chiding his wayward, dullard students.  That'll work, sure.

Obama expresses plenty of disappointment over how Republicans made a tactical decision from the start to oppose him, but also offers some "grudging admiration" for its political effectiveness in keeping the GOP united.

You realize that the role of the opposition in a democracy is to, you know, oppose?  We're not the leftist dictatorship that you and your commie buddies would love to emulate.

22 Does anyone else think it would hilarious if the lame duck session of congress this year kept getting interrupted because security noticed a strange white powder (from an excess of Gold Bond powder etc) and had to clear the building to check it out?

23 The president has been telling Democrats to "wake up" and recognize that he and the Democratic-run Congress have delivered on promises, from a new health care law to tougher rules for Wall Street to more aid for college students.

We promised to drive you off a cliff.. .and we kept our promise!

25 Encourage VPOTUS to speak extemporaneously at every opportunity.

"Now, Joe, listen: you are at your absolute best when you speak from the heart. When you rely on prepared remarks, you come off as stiff and cold, so our advice, really, is to just go out there and wing it. Say what you really mean, and just connect with the voters, you know?"

It's called leadership when you are in the minority in both houses of Congress. But with your extensive executive experience leading a political campaign, you knew that already, didn't you? Idjit.

35 From today's Morning Jolt (NRO email newsletter - DEMAND IT!) Susie at Suburban Guerrilla leaves me chuckling and nodding: "I guess it all depends on what you mean by 'promises.' There was that 'hope and change' implication, kind of like when a married guy tells his mistress, 'Someday, baby, you and me'll be together.' Meaning, 'I'll tell you what you want to hear right now, but only a moron would take me literally.' "So we're officially on notice. The people still without jobs? Quit yer whining. The ones on food stamps? You, too. Your house is being foreclosed on? What a buncha [wimps]. Shut yer piehole! Those of you living in your cars? Be grateful you still have cars! Sleeping on your friend's couch? Beats a cardboard box, don't it? You can't afford to see a doctor? God [darn] it, you'll be able to do that in 2014. You can't wait just four more years? "And they wonder why the base isn't motivated. Let me put it this way. You know how Joe Biden's grandparents came here from Ireland to find a better life? Americans are trying to figure out how to move their families back to Ireland."
