— DrewM Welcome to a repeat of last weekend....
Jets v. Bengals/Eagles v. Cowboys.
My fearless predictions (not against any spread): Just like last weekend Jets and Cowboys win. Bet accordingly (in other words, the opposite).
Bonus prediction, what little attention the MSM pays to Harry "Light Skin" Reid will be spun into, Harry would love to see the blackest man imaginable who speaks in nothing but Ebonics elected President but you racists won't allow it so Reid supported the "light skin" non "Negro dialect" speaking Obama.
And you're a racist for mentioning it but that goes without saying.

The question remains: Instead of shelling out dough for season tickets (and in some cases a seat license as well), why not just put the money toward a killer TV and watch your team from home? Is it really better to watch a Pats game from the third deck, a million miles from the field, than it is sitting on your sofa in front of a 50-inch plasma with HD? You can even invite your friends, or rotate houses every week. Is it really that much of a dropoff?
(The short answer: No. The long answer: No, but by remaining at home, if you're a family guy who frequently thinks about things like, "I'm trapped, why did I do this to myself?" and "Instead of getting married and having four kids, I wish I had just driven my car off a bridge at 115 mph," you might need those 10 getaways per year to recharge your batteries, have a few too many cold ones, smoke a few cigarettes that your wife would have never let you smoke, and maybe even hit on a heavyset girl wearing a Mark Sanchez jersey whose eyes are two different sizes. Or as married Jets fans call it, "me time.")

Has there ever been a time when 3 out of the 4 games being played on Wild Card Weekend were re-matches of week 17?
Wild weekend, indeed. They should call it deja vu weekend.

Eagles 27 Cowboys 24
Wade Phillips' playoff career wins = 0

Not only are the Jets and Cowboys gonna lose today, they're both gonna get stomped. Both the Eagles and Bengals are superior teams to their opponents. It won't even be close. Mark me words.
Wade Phillips will finally be fired. And he'll be fired tonight.

The big joke here in Bengaldom (a region known for its cynicism) is how it would be to be a fly on the wall when the Jets were reviewing last week's game film.
"So when he falls down, we blitz, right?"
They got absolutely no intel from that last engagement. Bengals will smoke them at home.

Bengals, okay. But Eagles? Where? QBs - close to even, RBs - close to even, TE - close to even, WR - close to even, CBs close, but safeties - Cowboys better, OL - Cowboys better by injury, DL - Cowboys. LBs - don't know Special teams - Eagles on kickoffs, but Cowboys lead in touchbacks. I don't see an superior team in the Eagles when positions compared.

oops, you know what? I take that back. Cowboys' Defense was much better than the Eagles' D this season.
Posted by: Sam Wyche at January 09, 2010 12:21 PM (jVldi)
Well, I respect your opinion, but I don't see it. Their safeties aren't good enough to be a great defense, imo, and I don't think they are better then a D that blanked two division foes back to back. Coaching is a wash. Reid is good, but flawed, and if is close at the end may mismanage time. Garrett is good but flawed (he's kind of hit/miss I think, either kills it or fails) and Wade is good, good D coach.

I think they have the best offensive player on the field, but the sum of the parts is less. If they can get big plays from their superstar, that might trump whatever plays Austin and co make.

But still, tell the truth, on a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you for a Cowboys win?
Posted by: also bla bla bla at January 09, 2010 12:25 PM (jVldi)
I read where 72% when a team has the opportunity to win 3-0 in the NFL, they do. My no 3-0 experience is that in college basketball can't win home/home/tourney.
Posted by: Amused Observer at January 09, 2010 12:26 PM (Uy/AI)

okay, so you think the Cowboys should win but have about a 55% chance of winning. That sounds about right. Except I'd go 50/50.
Posted by: also bla bla bla at January 09, 2010 12:29 PM (jVldi)
I just see the Eagles coming out to a quick 14-0 lead in the 1st and the Cowboys never being able to catch up.
Posted by: also bla bla bla at January 09, 2010 12:30 PM (jVldi)
That's what i was going to say, i'd actually put it 45/55, just because i think the Iggles are gonna come out lookin for revenge. Combine that with Romo/Phillips/Garret's obvious lack of big game skills and it doesn't look good for the Boys.
Posted by: koopy at January 09, 2010 12:32 PM (XllG0)
But, but, but, don't forget McNabb only plays the first half of games, then goes to sleep in the 3Q and for most of the 4Q.
Posted by: also bla bla bla at January 09, 2010 12:33 PM (jVldi)
And these days, I don't think the homefield is worth too much, but for a team that likes to run no-huddle offense, you want that at home so the crowd cooperates. That I think will play a factor in the Philly offense tonight in a negative sense.

Was it his fault they got Jay Cutler? And whatever happened to Rex Grossman?
Posted by: also bla bla bla at January 09, 2010 12:36 PM (jVldi)
Where is that from? Romo's postseason numbers aren't bad, just encapsulated in one bad FG hold. Garret, last year took a step back, but this year has taken a big step forward. His game plan last week (a big game) or the Saints (a big game) I thought was well done. Phillips D is going to play well because they have the personnel that allows them to get pressure and still play good coverage.
